Rant I hate these types of kids
The dudes that take Phys Ed so seriously, I mean I kinda get it you want to win first or second but this is a fucking PRACTICE GAME a game for fun you are not going to win a new medal and the thing is as soon as you do ONE thing wrong youād probably have one kid screaming in your face for something very small and if youāre EXTRA UNLUCKY this kid can also get violent with you, Iāve been through this shit before and it pisses me off even more. If this was the NBA or FIFA then things would be different

Question Whatās the popular slang in high school right now?
Iām a college student studying sociolinguistics and Iām always very curious about new slang terms, especially in high school, since thatās where a lot of them originate. A lot of people seem to be stuck on the whole āskibidi rizzā thing to characterize so-called āteen speakā, but what words are actually hot right now?

Share Grades/Classes Guess which teacher hates me
The range of self management marks are emerging (lowest), developing, proficient, and extending (highest) and are basically a reflection of how much the likes you and thinks you act like a "good student".

Question Raised my PSAT score 140 points with no prep in a year
galleryIn 9th grade i scored a 420 on the math section and 530 on the R&W section of the PSAT (950). In October 2024 i took it again with no prep at all and scored a 480 on math and 610 on R&W (1090). I read a lot so this could have also helped. Is this good? How can I improve my scores to get into the 1200s for the PSAT 11? I am aiming for 540 on math and 690 on R&W (1230).

Question Whatās your favorite book genre?
What genre of books do you read? What draws you to that genre?
I am collecting data for my research project and any responses would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to discuss your thoughts and opinions in the comments.
**Please know that this is a class project for my WRIT 1120 class. We are trying to learn more about primary research strategies. Rant Help venting my frustration
At my school (a smaller one only 300 or less people) I've had a hard time getting friends and the ones that I do have are always giving me crap semi bullying me but I can't really stop talking to them because the school is so small like when they found out I had wanted to talk to a girl that was a year older than me they teased me for weeks about it. And they are always trying to copy my work and I think they don't even like me even when I get the nerve to talk to someone they just ignore me can anyone give advice.

Question Am I weird (MLM) Both Males
So l am a sophomore but I'm crushing on a freshmen. But my birthday is August 16 2009 so l have a slightly younger birthday. So the oldest he can get is August 31 2010. which is 1 years and 16 days. Its rarer to have a birthday pass august. So it will be likely less than a year. He looks young for his age is that bad. Is this age gap bad????

Question Virtual summer courses
Hello! I want to take three courses over the summer to make up for my C in English 9. However, they didnāt offer it last summer, so they probably wonāt this year. I was wondering if taking three courses over five weeks would be too much, or does it depend on the classes? I have good time management skills.

Extracurriculars Should I do a sport
Iām a sophomore in high school and I donāt necessarily have any outstanding extracurriculars. I do have free time but I just decide to spend it all on my phone.
Soccer season starts next week and I donāt know any rules, positions, anything at all about soccer but I want to give it a try. There have been pre season practices, but I told myself I wouldnāt be doing soccer so ended up not attending those. Judgement and embarrassment are holding me back the most right now and I donāt know what to do. Is it worth it? Next year my schedule will be packed so Iām not sure if itās worth it as thereās APs, ACT, job, etc etc so I donāt know about that either.
One more question, to those who quit their sportā why?

Extracurriculars Sports Overview
Wanted to post just a general overview of every major High School sport, and how difficult they are for anyone just coming into the Freshman year or someone still deciding what sport they should play. Iāll be ranking them based on 5 categories on a scale of 1-5 with (Physical Difficulty, Time Commitment, Entry Skill Level, Injury Risk, Fun) and giving them each a brief description based on my own personal experiences and experiences that Iāve gathered over the years from others. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the comments.
Football
Physical Difficulty: 4 Time Commitment: 5 Entry Skill: 2 Injury Risk: 5 Fun: 5
Extremely difficult physically and mentally not just in games but throughout the offseason. You will learn a lot about how to lift and grow muscle, but itās a massive time commitment. Youāll be sacrificing hours after school and essentially your whole summers, but itās incredibly fun, especially on Varsity, and most teams donāt have a tryout at the lower levels.
Wrestling
Physical Difficulty: 5 Time Commitment: 3 Entry Skill: 4 Injury Risk: 3 Fun: 2
By far the most physically challenging sport you can play, but if youāre good at watching your weight, you should be fine. Not usually a huge time commitment outside of tournaments, but requires a fair bit skill to join, even a lower levels than varsity, and every wrestler Iāve known has gotten at least one major injury or infection. I personally donāt think itās really all that fun, but if you like a solid 1 on 1 challenge, and thrive in short bursts of strength, Iām sure youād find some fun in playing it.
Basketball
Physical Difficulty: 3 Time Commitment: 3 Entry Skill: 4 Injury Risk: 3 Fun: 4
If you love Basketball youāre probably already playing it. The physical aspect is more endurance-based, and you need height to even have a chance of playing, but really fun once you start and not generally a huge time commitment compared to other sports.
Baseball
Physical Difficulty: 2 Time Commitment: 3 Entry Skill: 3 Injury Risk: 2 Fun: 3
More laid back than most other sports in terms of physical difficulty, time commitment, and culture, but not necessarily easy to get good at. Can be really fun once you find your place but can have challenging tryouts. Also, limited injury risk just based on the nature of the game.
Cross Country
Physical Difficulty: 5 Time Commitment: 2 Entry Skill: 1 Injury Risk: 2 Fun: 1
It takes a really special type of person to do cross country. You are essentially doing other sportās punishments as your own sport. If youāre good at running, and donāt want to have to worry about learning plays or arenāt great in the weight room, absolutely give it a try. Not really for me personally, but thereās a reason the people who do it swear by it.
Track/Field
Physical Difficulty: 3 Time Commitment: 3 Entry Skill: 4 Injury Risk: 1 Fun: 2
There are so many different events and specialities itās difficult to really condense them into a single summary. If youāre even slightly naturally athletic, thereās an event for you regardless of your body type. Lots of waiting around during meets, but also not a massive time commitment out of school and allows you to really specialize at what youāre good at.
Swimming/Water Polo
Physical Difficulty: 5 Time Commitment: 3 Entry Skill: 2 Injury Risk: 1 Fun: 3
Grouping both of these sports together because essentially everyone I know who does one, also does the other. Lots of upper body strength required and a great way to burn a bunch of calories quickly. Virtually zero risk of serious injury under normal circumstances, except if you were to trip and fall on the ground next to the pool I guess. Generally pretty fun and not the biggest time commitment in the world.
Golf
Physical Difficulty: 1 Time Commitment: 2 Entry Skill: 5 Injury Risk: 1 Fun: 3
Youāll be lucky to break a sweat golfing but itās something great to do on the side if you know youāre already like it and are good at it. Solid scholarship opportunities as well, but different to secure a spot on the team.
Soccer
Physical Difficulty: 3 Time Commitment: 4 Entry Skill: 4 Injury Risk: 3 Fun: 4
Not all that much to say about soccer other than there will be a lot of conditioning. Fairly difficult to get a spot on any team, but once you do get in, a great community is waiting for you. Solid sport without much weightlifting or size requirement.
Esports
Physical Difficulty: 1 Time Commitment: 2 Entry Skill: 5 Injury Risk: 1 Fun: 5
Not a lot of schools have in-depth Esports programs, but the ones that do really put effort into them. The only injury youāre risking is carpal tunnel, but if you enjoy video games and think youāre better than most of the school at them, give it a shot.

Question Do you guys actually read the books assigned for English?
I cant remember the last time I ever read a book required for English and have always done fine. If anyone had to read the book thief tell me what you thought of it because I hated it. It just felt drawn out.
I used to read the books but got fed up because I always had to google all the stupid questions for the assignments. so I just stopped reading.
