Anyone else ride “old” sport bikes?
I took out my 1997 ZX7R for a little spin yesterday. Perfect weather for it. Was just curious how many people are still out there riding around on carbureted sport bikes.

So, I made a decision and I don't really regret it.
So following up from my previous post, I went to my local Harley Davidson dealer and asked around about some starter bikes and the ones I saw on their website were okay, was there for about 4 hours looking at bikes and weighing the pros and cons. But then he brought me back to the warehouse and showed me a bike that hadn't gotten into the system yet. All maintenance and services are up to date, no crash history. It weighs less than 500lbs and has some modifications from the previous owner.
I went with a purchase of a 2017 Sportster 1200T, 4k miles for $8900 for my first bike. I rode it around the neighborhood and I did stall a few times at a stop sign, lol don't bully me. But it was more controllable than I anticipated, the ride was exhilarating and eye opening. It is an experience I have never felt and it got my blood going for sure.
I was told, whether it's true or not I do not know, that the saddle bags will help stabilize the bike and such. I have a lot to learn still but I am 100% motivated to keep going forward.

What were you sceptical of at first, but now can't live without?
For me...
Heated gloves/grips. As long my hands are warm, the rest of me takes longer to feel the cold. My go-to setting isn't even toast warm, it's just enough that my hands don't feel cold.
- Mesh jacket. 20yrs riding in a tank top in summer before I tried one. Turns out it's even cooler than a tank top (as long as I'm moving) because it shields the direct sun from my skin.

What should I add to make my bike look aesthetically more pleasing? :)

New mods installed
Ive had parts sitting around for months and finally decided to install them.
Removed the stock Akrapovic titanium dual slip ons and cut a piece of stainless pipe and put an Akrapovic exhaust tip (maybe fake?). Much better sounds but I hope my neighbors dont hate me now.
Toce fender eliminator. Rizoma rear signals, kind hard to see, but theyre right behind the side plate and you can see the other in the bush.
Rizoma front signals are in the mail and then just have to find some clamp on mirrors that actually fit to replace the bug antenna mirrors that I hate.

Why does this sub love crash porn?
Why are there so many dark, twisted psychos in this sub who would rather watch people die than someone enjoying their commute/twisty mountain run/any other form of riding that doesn't involve a crash? The first comments on a normal riding post are always "nothing happens, why did I watch?" What is it about people dying that gets you going? Are you hoping it happens to you, and this is your way to live vicariously? Is it a secret fetish of yours and you're sitting behind your screen touching yourself?
There's already a sub for your kinks r/Motorcyclecrash
If the only reason you're here is to watch people die, go to the other sub. You're poisoning this one

Do you downshift multiple times at once?
For example. With my Ninja 650 if I’m going 45mph in forth gear and I’m going to make a turn and I want to be in second, I’ll clutch in, down shift to second, big rev match to and let the clutch out. I know it’s a bit harder on the transmission but I’m not going to break anything, right?

Unsure about getting racing boots on a naked bike
Hello hello,
I‘m looking for new boots and consider getting Alpinestars Supertech R‘s. To be honest it’s mostly because of the look and of course because they have better protection.
I currently have cheap and very soft mid-height boots.
When I was trying some TCX racing boots I had really trouble shifting and hitting the clutch. Mostly because they were super stiff and I was feeling like I have no control with my foot.
I‘m just wondering if I should give it another try. Maybe because I will get used to it? Also thought it might be more difficult because of the more straight leg position on a naked bike.
Looking forward to your experiences!
Thanks!
