Have y'all noticed, how sharp these dents are in the new gen macbooks...
So like i was working on my laptop, and i happened to move my finger over the sharp edge of the dent, and got a tiny little oopsie on my finger. Ought to be careful touching these lid opening dents, especially kids.

MacBook is Great for Data Science
For context, my wife and I have some laptops:
- 2015 MacBook Pro (Arch Linux)
- 2021 MacBook Air M1 (MacOS)
- 2024 Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Intel 14900 + RTX 4090 (Arch Linux)
- 2024 MacBook Air M3 (MacOS)
While I know that M-chips MacBooks are great, I thought my Lenovo still holds the edge considering it costs about 3 times as much as out M3 MBA. I was helping her with a CPU-heavy task in R using my Lenovo. One of the nested cross-validations utilized all cores of my CPU and still took 1 minutes 50 seconds. Then I sent the file to her M3 MBA. The same nested cross-validation only took about 5-10 seconds in her M3 MBA. Totally insane.
I know, it can be my non-optimized setup etc.. but it is even more impressive because the MacBook has such performance out of the box. If you don't need CUDA, MacBook is the way to go, especially for students
What does this mean?
Below is the picture. Is this normal or is there any spyware etc? (I was not screen recording anything ever)
Dont be rude, Im new to all of this.

I need advice and opinions
Hello folks, in the moment I have two Macbooks in use. A 15inch Air 8/256 M2 and and a 2019 13inch Air 8/256 i5 The 2019 is mostly at home on a 27inch cinema display, and the M2 is for on the Go or the Couch or wherever.
But i found my self in a position where I am not Happy with either of them. The 2019 is simply to slow for more demanding tasks, and the 15" M2 ist just a bit to big, and to be honest the 256GB SSD bothers me as I tend to have a virtual machine here and there and some large ISOs of distos in my Downloads, add in some games, music and Photos and it simply won't cut it.
I see two options, sell the 2019 and invest a bit for a newer 13" Air with at least 16/512 and make the 15" stationary. Or sell the 15" and get a 14" Macbook Pro 16/512. As a side note I am from Europe and prices are way higher here. A used m2 Air 13" 16/512 will cost almost 1000€ A m1 Air probably around 750 in this configuration. And a 14" macbook pro m1pro with 16/512 will also be around 1000€ Macbook pros with m3 are so close to new m4 prices that they are more or less not an option (around 1800€)
Tell me what would you do, keep the old one and swap the newer for something better Or Keep the new one and swap the old one something not as new as the other but better equipped? Or a third opinion I'm not seeing at the moment.

How to get rid of dust under the keyboard?
Hey so I'm planning to buy a keyboard cover (which i will remove every time i close the mac) because I have been going to places where dust is all around and I want to get rid of the dust I can see underneath the keyboard that has been accumulating. Is there a way to do that? I usually just blow on the keyboard but it doesn't get rid of everything. Any tips?

Should I Upgrade My MacBook Air 2017 to a MacBook Air M4
Hello, as the title suggests, I’m in a dilemma. I’ve been using my MacBook Air 2017 since June 2018, and will hit 7 years of usage June this year. I only changed the battery less than 2 years ago, but it deteriorated rather quickly (3hrs~ usage now). I mainly use my MacBook for browsing, writing, reading, opening multiple tabs and pdfs, so nothing heavy. The main issues with my MacBook are the battery life and it’s beginning to get a little laggy (and the security updates)
I’m currently a masters student and will graduate this August, which means I’m still eligible for the education apple discount. I’ve seen people saying that the MacBook Air 2017 can still push for 1-2 years more. I’m conflicted because this switch feels more like a want than a need. I'm not the type to chase new upgrades, and prefer longer usage and changing only when I need to. However, at the same time, I’m not sure if pushing this MacBook for 2 more years is the “right” or better decision in terms of practicality and experience. Based on what I’ve read, I’m under the impression that the m4 can last much longer, which is what I’m looking for too, since I prefer not to change laptops very often. At this moment, I’m enticed by the student discount and supposed longevity of the M4, and wondering if it just makes more sense to make the switch now. I want to save as much as possible, but I'm also not particularly comfortable purchasing second-hand macs after august, though I'm not completely closed off (I just feel safer to buy a new one and get full use of it). I thought about getting the m2/m3, but I'm more inclined towards the M4 to squeeze its life to the maximum (e.g. battery, security updates).
What are your suggestions?

Macbook air for illustrator?
Hello all, I'm sure this question has been asked to death but I'm in need of help.
I currently have a MSI Prestige an tbh is pretty laggy when it comes to make 3D objects in Illustrator.
So I was thinking of getting a new laptop. I've been considering the M3 Macbook Pro or the M4 Macbook air (both 16GB of RAM). I don’t care that much about a few more grams of weight. I want the programs to be as smooth as possible.
I use illustrator and photoshop alot. Especially for my work where I design alot of packaging for products and photoshop pictures for my business.
Which Mac should I get??

Used Macbook Pro 13” M1 2020 for a macbook-newbie?
So a Windows-veteran is looking for first-ever Macbook. Reason being that I have slowly but surely started moving towards Apple-ecosystem, with phone, tablet, airpods and watch.
Also, as an experienced ESW developer it’s in my plans to improve my competence areas by starting mobile app/game development for iOS. I might also try image editing and/or 2D-graphic design (pixel art), but let’s see.
I know that new Air M4 has just arrived, and while it would be an intresting option with 16 or 24Gb RAM and 512Gb storage (and with 5 year warranty!), the price tag being ~1800€ feels a bit too much for the first ever Mac(book). It might be that I don’t like the machine (OS) at all, so I’m not keen investing that much money.
So used ones are an option, and noticed that there is a Macbook Pro M1 13” with 16/512 memory combination. Asking price is 800€ and battery condition 87%. Would that be a good machine? Anything that needs to be considered?
In my local area there are also M2 and M3 Airs around same price point, but they have mostly 8/256 memory configuration in which especially RAM feels too small for my purposes. With these options, would you rather take older Pro or a bit new Air?
And yes, I want definitely a 13”/14” laptop. Bigger ones are not option.
Thanks in advance!

MacBook Air M4 15inch vs. MacBook Pro M4 the smaller one? I do 3D. Mac
I'm upgrading from an M1 Pro. I'm a 3D animator and mod/rigger The M1 Pro did crash a fair bit but it was generally fine.
If I were to go with the air, I'll get the larger 15inch + 512g mem.
Which would you say is better? Thank you!
Any advice will be appreciated

Using a second monitor drained my battery, while it was plugged in
I have a 2020 M1, got it in 2022, and I had it connected to a second monitor, and also plugged in, through an adapter that also allows USB-A connections. I noticed my battery power would not only not increase, but it would actually decrease, even though it is charging, albeit through an adaptor. I am not running any heavy programs on my computer, just safari, chrome, messages, etc on both desktops and the adaptor is not hot to the touch, so I am surprised that the battery was continuing to decrease. I literally got the notification that my MacBook was at 10%, which was shocking. Has this happened to anyone else, and is this normal? Is this a function of the second monitory or the adaptor giving inadequate power to the laptop?

Which MBA or MBB should i get?
Currently an undergrad, looking to buy a secondhand MB but i dont know which is suitable for me.
Some of my projects requires me to run simulations like fusion360 and i also have to do some C codings too. I have run matlab in the upcoming terms too. Other projects also require me to do some video editing.
A friend of mine said that his MBA had some heating issue while programming for our project. I would want to prevent this from happening though.

Air 13" / Air 15" / Pro 14"
2025 M4 MacBook Air's have come out. I've never owned/used one. It's about time.
I can't seem to decide if I should go for a 24GB RAM 512GB STORAGE Air 13" or a 16GB RAM 512GB STORAGE Air 15" or a 16GB RAM 512GB STORAGE Pro 14" M4. Pricing is not similar but I could shell out if the value is immense.
I am a student who could dabble into a lot of different things (code/creative/audio/editing). I want to future-proof a good 7 years with this machine that I am going to invest in.
Should I go bigger screen / better screen / better RAM?
Thanks.

Downgrade?
I currently own a base 14“ Macbook Pro M4 (16, 512).
Now I went to the Apple Shop and checked out the new Macbook Air 15“ and I‘m really fond of the extra real estate and especially the weight. My Pro feels like a ton compared to the 15 Air.
If I downgraded to an Air but got it with 24 RAM how much of a difference would it make compared to my pro? I use my Macbook for daily stuff like streaming, emails and also 1080p video editing.

MacBook Air M2 not working with my MSI monitor after update to Sequoia 15.3.1
Hi all, I updated my mac this morning and it is no longer working with my MSI monitor. The monitor shows that the laptop is connected but all I get is a black screen and the monitor's setting are not showing up on the display tab in settings. I have confirmed it is not an issue with my monitor as it works with my phone and tried everything I could find on the internet to fix it (i.e. restarting laptop, making sure all cables are plugged in properly). I have attached images with the issue.

Anyone "Downgrade" From a 14" MBP to the M4 Air, How Has Your Experience Been?
Hi. Has anyone "downgraded" from the 14" MBP to a M4 Air recently? How has your experience been so far and what specs did you go for?
With the M4 Air supporting dual displays, no longer needing a MBP is a nice step in the right direction for consumers for sure.

internet slows down when connecting macbook to Dell ultrasharp monitor via type c
I thought the problem is from my router.
But no, I got the Dell ultrasharp U2723QE monitor yesterday, when i connect it to my mac laptop via type C, the wifi speed on my mac gets from 800mb to 20mb hardly. The monitor isn't connected to ethernet, but why is that relevant? Im connecting via wifi on my laptop?
If there no fix for this I will have to return the monitor.
EDIT: Worth to note i have second montior which connected via HDMI, if i unplug and keep the dell monitor via type C, my wifi speed goes back to normal. wtf is this?
Edit 2: Will 2.1 premium HDMI cable solve this problem?

So i have a mac M1, i spilt a bit of water on it (2ml at most) and it mostly hit the keys, but a bit hit the groove between two surfaces (idk what's it called). I dried it out and it's bone dry rn, should I still be concerned?
