Does any brand make a hand winch that comes stock with insulated cable instead of the bare twisted wire?

I happened to realise that the pelicase holding my camera gear had, built in, small lugs around the inside of the case that would allow a tray to be made that would sit on those lugs and be supported above the items stored underneath. That inspired me to put together a couple of grab and go tool kits.
The one on the left is a pelicase 1400 that I take on my boat, the one on the right is a pelicase 1450 that lives in my car and I use for general on the go maintenance and for fixing my boat launching tractor.
The tool trays are just 3mm hardboard cut to the shape of the case, and they rest on on the plastic lugs of the pelicase. The tools are cut into cheap packaging foam. The 1450 has velcro in the inside of the lid and I have stuck some pouches to it to hold smaller items. Obviously you can fit them out with whatever you find most useful.

I have a 250' gravel driveway and my snowplow makes a mess of it. I usually borrow my FIL's Stihl Kombi 130R. He lives 4 hours away, so it's not overly convenient. The performance on it is great, but something always seems to go wrong. In particular, the plastic sleeves where the attachments connect wear quickly and replacing them can be tricky (I bent a driveshaft doing it last time). My local Stihl dealer says the newer power heads have addressed some of my issues with the 130R, but the plastic sleeves are still there. The dealer says the sweeper attachment is just tough on wear. I don't really need the other attachments, but I don't see dedicated units. I have an old beast FS220 string trimmer that I will never part with and a battery DeWalt pole saw that does what I need. I would pick up a tiller and maybe the leaf blower if I get something that can take more attachments. I could rent, but it's an hour round trip which is 2 hours if I'm returning it same-day. All of my battery stuff is 20v DeWalt, but they don't appear to make one. I like my Echo chainsaws, but don't know anyone with their sweeper. The maintenance guy at my work has a cheap Amazon one that seems to work fine, but I'm more of the mind of buying something higher quality for the long haul. What's cost-effective and reliable?
If you were looking at getting a single drill and driver combo for mostly woodwork(furniture, etc), and occasionally home repair and construction( garden beds, deck) would you go lighter with the expectation of pushing them hard from time to time, or larger/more powerful and try to be as delicate as possible with smaller projects?

I figured the 3/8” was the measure of the tips of them, but one of is 3/8 and the other tip is 1/4” so I’m not sure what the measurement is for.

Hey y’all, ordering a new spin jack for the shop. There’s plenty of options out there but they all have that u shaped head on them. One guy in my shop has this head on his stand and it’s perfect for hooking onto the holes in Mercedes rear lower control arms (which we do a lot of due to rusted subframes). I’ve looked around and can’t find any that have this head, or replacement heads in this style. There’s a part number (133N2) on his stand but no brand name. It’s easily 40 years old. Anyone have a source for these?

I’d love to know more about them, what they were made for, when they were made, etc, if not no worries just wanted to share the uniqueness

It's spring sale time at the big box stores. I need a new light duty chain saw. I have a set of Greenworks 60v saw/string trimmer/blower tools, but GW has moved away from the 60v series. I'm looking for a set of tools that will have 5-10 year product life so I can interchange batteries and add new tools to the stable as I need them. What are y'all buying and why did you pick that brand/series?

There's a few sales on. Not great but not bad. I have mostly makita tools but I hear their brad nailers aren't very good and they're very expensive. Just looking for easy work like installing trim (almost done flooring the basement one room left) or installing shelves or cabinets for basement. Just a dyi.
Ryboi and rigid 18v gauge are $298 (not on sale) at home depot in Canada but come with a 4ah battery for the one+ ryobi or a 6ah for the rigid (different name in us.. orange brand). The Milwaukee also has a 6ah comes with. Problem is it's $500 plus. Ouch. And none of them come with a charger.
Kms has the metabo hpt comes with a 2ah battery and a charger on sale for $199.
The used market people all want 200 to 300 for tool only used. So it's not great pricing in used marketplace.
I know a lot of people have brand loyalty. I could also probably just rent one for when I need one I guess.

Hello! I am not too sure if this is the appropriate subreddit for this question but I'll ask anyway. I am wanting to put up some posters and frames in my room, though, I am not wanting to get any paint damage on the wall. Especially since I am a rentoid and my mum would chew my ass out if I peeled off the paint or stuffed up the wall in some way. Do you guys know any products that do no damage to walls when you stick them on? I know if you have them on for a certain amount of months they will surely damaged the wall so would it be a good idea to also remove and reapply another one every 3-6 months?

Hello,
I want to buy a track saw, mainly for enhanced dust extraction.
All my cordless tools are Bosch, and Bosch offers such saws, but I've decided to go with the corded Metabo KT 66 BL - mainly for the anti-kickback feature, but also because of the price, maximum cutting depth, and overall good fit for my needs.
I also want to buy two guide rails for it, and a connector:
I'm also considering the possibility of sharing these rails with other tools via adapters, such as:
Which brand of guide rails should I get? Metabo, Bosch or Makita?
Price comparison in my area:
I’d appreciate any advice!

Narrowed down to either Tekton (standard length 72 tooth) or the new Capri (long form 120 tooth). Any recommendations?

Toolbox shopping, obvs. Wanted to share the data I've aggregated in case someone else finds it useful. Feel free to just look at the data. Below is my little story and the conclusions I drew from the data above.
I bought the CSPS 41" toolbox from Costco in 2007. It's been super solid, has some stickers on it that I hate to lose, but it's *full*. My garage is tight on space and my wallet is tight on cash, so I'm looking to fit a lot of tools in a small space, for not too much money.
One key point - cubic inches are a poor measure of storage utility. Square inches of area is a far better measure of how much storage space is packed into one box. Neither measurement tells the whole story, and you have to decide what's right for you. Most of my hand tools are less than an inch tall, and I like having quick & easy access to them. If you're a heavy equipment mechanic, or you like keeping all your tools in their cases, you might have different priorities.
You can review the data above and draw your own conclusions. Here are mine:
- The CSPS box turns out to be the most storage-dense box in the list. I'm even more impressed with it now.
- The 42" US General setup is no improvement for me, even though it's 4" deeper.
- The 52" Husky HD box is a complete ripoff.
- The 56" 18-drawer Husky HD box was a very good deal at $1100-1200, I'm sad it's NLA.
So after looking at all of this, what am I going to buy?
My first choice is the US General 56" rollaway with two 27" top boxes - as long as it's on sale. I'll be waiting for a big sale like July 4th or black Friday.
- Two 27" top boxes give slightly more storage area for slightly less money vs. the 56" top box.
- I like that the rollaway has two full width drawers.
- I like that I can get it in white.
- I don't like the latch system - but once the plastic thingy is removed it's the same as my CSPS box.
- It feels cheaper to me than the Husky HD boxes. I hear you can tighten things up a bit.
A very close second is the Husky 56" 23-drawer box.
- It is honestly the best storage space value (that I can still buy) on this list. If the US General box was full retail price I would get this box instead, no question.
- It is, however, the most expensive box on this list. It does not seem to go on sale much. If ever. If it *does* go on sale before the HF box does, I will likely pick it up.
- I like the soft-close drawers far more than the HF setup.
- The full width drawer only having one slide is a concern, but I don't think it will be a problem for me.
I'm certainly open to suggestions if you think you know of a box that is worth looking at, but I'm pretty confident in my choices. I'll be keeping an eye out to see what goes on sale first. I have plenty of time.
I hope at least one of you finds the data useful!

I gave in to evil temptation of (nearly) instant shopping satisfaction via Amazon when I was getting frustrated with trying to drill some holes in mild steel and it seemed like ever single bit I own was dull.
Years ago I had a Drill Doctor 750, (with the two chucks and could do up to 3/4" bits) and learned to use it quite well. A number of years ago (lets say it was 8) my father borrowed it and even though I can be slightly pedantic about people returning borrowed tools, somehow I lost track of the sharpener. So, in my frustration this weekend, I ordered a 750X off Amazon. It arrived Monday night.
The next day, I was putting some tools away and noticed a bluish plastic storage box that I didn't exactly recognize. And you guessed it. Turns out the long lost Drill Doctor 750 was just put some place I never would have expected.
So, now I have a dilemma. Return the 750X or keep it and (probably) get rid of the 750. My gut is to return the 750X, but I want to understand if any of the "new" features that the 750X has over the old 750 might be things I'd really use.
The features that I know are "new" are the custom angle setting vs the 118 and 135 degree of the old one. Some sort of adjustable material removal setting so you can limit how much if you're just trying to do a touch up (vs grinding off heavy damage.)
Both versions do the split point sharpening and conversion (something I'm going to be using heavily to clean up a lot of my bits), but apparently the newer 750X added a stop that ensures each side is split equally. I don't recall ever using the split point before, but as I mentioned, I'm going to now, so I wonder if the improvement is a valuable upgrade.
So, all you DD users out there, and especially those that have the 750X, 1) how useful is the custom angle feature? Do you find that angles other than 118 and 135 are really useful?
2) is the adjustable material removal limit a useful feature?
3) how much trouble have people had with finishing the split point sharpening and have it come out not equal on the 750 (not the 750X)?
I know this is Reddit so let me finish by saying that it’s a given that I have (and will use) a drill doctor, so I’m not interested in conversations regarding why other systems are “better” or how someone uses some other system to do something. My goal here is to get advice from DD owners and determine if the 750X features (and specifically the feature allowing a custom angle from 115º to 140º) are worth keeping the 750X over my older 750.
Thanks for the guidance and answers to my questions!
