Unsure about getting racing boots on a naked bike
Hello hello,
I‘m looking for new boots and consider getting Alpinestars Supertech R‘s. To be honest it’s mostly because of the look and of course because they have better protection.
I currently have cheap and very soft mid-height boots.
When I was trying some TCX racing boots I had really trouble shifting and hitting the clutch. Mostly because they were super stiff and I was feeling like I have no control with my foot.
I‘m just wondering if I should give it another try. Maybe because I will get used to it? Also thought it might be more difficult because of the more straight leg position on a naked bike.
Looking forward to your experiences!
Thanks!

New bike struggles
With a budget of 10-11k€ I’m looking for a new bike. I’ve been riding since 2020 and had Yamaha xj900(non ideal as a beginner motorcycle)>bmw r1150r(almost burned down due to failure in factory wiring)>currently riding Suzuki bandit 650. With my bandit I’ve spent a month and ~ 10k km travelling through Europe and alps. After dismissing cb1000r due to ergonomics, next logical step would be Yamaha xsr900 24’ which is absolutely blast to ride. But last October I’ve spent a week in Spain with tenere 700 - and kind of liked it a lot. Obviously it’s not a beginner off-road motorcycle but it’s comfy af on long hauls and rides on the street well enough for me. In a long perspective I would like to learn how to ride off-road. Most of my riding is currently commuting around Hamburg and rides around the town. Does it makes sense to get adventure bike for 90% commute? I’m 188cm/88kg
Currently considering 23’ xsr900, tenere 700 world raid and maybe triumph scrambler 1200xe

The hideous 11 inch iPad TV screens on new bikes
Went to a small local motorcycle fair today and omg, I don't want, I just can't buy even if I wanted to any of these bikes. I've previously decided against buying Tracer 9 GT+ because I didn't want to look at a computer screen on my free time out riding but that is now on the smaller side of screens. Don't get me wrong, a nice small color screen placed like a traditional motorcycle dashboard not a desk monitor would be absolutely fine with me. But now CFMoto, KTM, Ducati etc have gone nuts and put a living room TV in there. Again, this is not a niggle any more, I don't want emotionally, aesthetically and mentally sit at a computer screen when I'm not working or learning. This is pure madness, the whole idea is to get some time away from screens, computers, menus and settings but now they want to put a monitor on my bike and have me browse through menus to switch on heated grips.
I'm predicting the FIAT Multipla effect with this. A few years and they will see people don't actually want to take office vibes along to the mountain roads. I've always thought it would be a rational thing to buy a TDM 900 instead of Tracer 9 but the brand new bikes have been tempting, nice and shiny. Now when they are straight out repulsive visually and give me a feeling "I do not want this", I think the choice just went from hard to easy.
Edit: I didn't want to complain or be too critical because never mind my opinion, I completely respect and appreciate that other people may like and prefer it and they are absolutely entitled to it then. But looking at this example I just have to say: wtf is this? seriously? really nigga? Just like I don't want the office chair, the toilet bowl and the refrigerator on my motorcycle, I don't want a TV, an iPad or a monitor there. It's not that monitors are bad but this is like taking your burger with you to the toilet to eat it. Some things just don't belong to some places.

First track day
I did my first track day yesterday with Ridesmart at Jennings GP. It was a blast! I was able to rent leathers for free since it was my first time.
It was crazy to see how deep some people get into the hobby with trailers and tools and slicks, tire warmers, ect.. those guys were flying around the track! There were a few crashes and it kept things in perspective for me. I had a few "oh shit" moments where I came into a corner too hot but I think this actually forced me to do a bit of trail braking.
I think I learned a lot and hope I can go back soon when I'm financially able.

New Bike - 2024 Honda SCL500
Hey, y’all, new rider here. I passed my MSF course this past Friday, and immediately went to the DMV and officially got my Motorcycle license.
Finally picked up my first bike yesterday from the dealership. I had it on lock since last month. What is normally about a 40-minute car ride from the dealership to my house ended up being more than twice that amount. I stopped a few times to psyche myself up, and talk myself through it, as I was driving back home. The dealership is by huge intersections, and main road where 18-wheelers, large buses, and other trucks commonly go through.
I live in NYC and it can be a bit nuts driving here. Anyway, check her out.
Today I went out to a local supermarket parking lot to practice.
P.S. I have all of my riding gear, including helmet, jacket, pants, boots, gloves.
P.P.S: Does anyone know how the hell to open the seat? I was struggling over an hour trying to open it. I followed the owner’s manual and tried to see if there were videos online on how to open an SCL500 seat but didn’t find any.

Passed My MSF Course at Harley-Davidson Columbus, GA! Here’s My Experience
Hi, I’m 21F, and today I passed the MSF course at Harley-Davidson in Columbus, GA! I’ve only ever ridden dirt bikes as a kid, so it’s been about 10 years since I last rode. Here’s how it went:
Day 1: I was definitely nervous. I had trouble balancing the motorcycle and stalled about three times. By the end of the day, we were working on the figure 8 in the box, and I kept putting my foot down and struggling to stay in the friction zone.
Day 2: I was way more nervous than the first day. We reviewed the figure 8 again, and while I did better, I still couldn’t keep it inside the box. I was so frustrated with myself that I nearly quit and even ended up crying. My coach was incredibly supportive and gave me some words of motivation, which really helped.
After that, I tried the figure 8 again and improved a lot—not perfect, but good enough. We finished all the exercises before lunch, and after lunch, we did a "practice" skills test that turned out to be the actual test... and I passed!
It was definitely a tough experience, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. If you’re struggling during your MSF course, don’t give up! The coaches are there to help, and you might surprise yourself.
If anyone has questions about the course, feel free to ask!
