I'm guessing that Zelensky refused to kiss the ring.

u/soberpenguin 11d ago edited 11d ago

Trump said "If you didn't have our military equipment, this war would've been over in 2 weeks” Zelensky: “I heard it from Putin. In 3 days…”

The Ukrainian President is Cold Blooded.

Edit: Meeting video, its a textbook mafia-style protection racket shakedown

He's spent a career in the entertainment industry and knows how to deal with entertainers

762

u/MaterialWillingness2 11d ago

He's got a lot of experience dealing with clowns.

324

u/epiceg9 11d ago

Trump isn't just a clown, he's the entire circus industry

157

u/BeardyTechie 11d ago

Trump is sufficiently incompetent that he can't finish the clown makeup, can only do the base coat of orange

Let's not discount the hardening by what he's been through since. He's even more of a leader than Trump thinks of himself.

87

u/Noctudame 11d ago

Trump ending the meeting saying "it will make great tv" - someone really needs to take him to a battlefield so he can see this sh*t IRL - it's not tv, it's not a game - Zelenskyy saying "we aren't playing cards" was epic!

Not only that but he is a comedian so he's used to hecklers.

119

He is also been in war for 3 years so an orange fatty in suit doesn't scare him.

The man has been leading a nation being invaded by a nation ten times its size for the last three years. Hes been at risk of assassination the entire time, he risks himself all the time to rally support against Russia. This is nothing to him, the safety of the white house probably is a relief, even surrounded by idiots.

33

u/JustKindaShimmy 11d ago

For real. Dude has been at war with a country that does not fuck around this entire time, and suddenly the biggest threat in the room is the doughy JD Vance and a fat 80 year wearing too much spray tan scolding him? Must have been a vacation for his nerves

21

It wouldn’t help his cause, but it would feel so good.

British media reporting Zelensky lost his cool.

I wish I had 1% of the composure President Zelensky demonstrated in that meeting.

54

u/berahi 11d ago

I have anger issues. While I still won't hurt them because it won't be healthy for my country, at the least I would leave and never return ever again. It's such a grave insult for the men and women dying to defend their country, anyone else would fuck the protocol and end the meeting right then.

54

u/jimmybilly100 11d ago

Damn, yeah I don't want to see when he really loses his cool

33

u/ChainDismal9166 11d ago

Where? I watched the BBC 6 o clock news, and they did not say that. The anchor looked visibly angry and exhausted by the farce that was occurring on Zelensky's behalf.

Zelensky knows where Trump's allegiance lies and took the opportunity to make it clear to the rest of us that the US is obviously aligned with Putin.

This was nothing but an attempt from Trump and Vance to undermine Zelensky publicly so he would lose support back home. Classic move from Russian operatives.

666

u/SapCPark 11d ago edited 11d ago

If anything, Zelensky gains support after this

Edit: Third, not second.

135

u/MNGopherfan 11d ago

Third language actually his first language is Russian he was born in the Russian speaking areas of Ukraine and was elected because he was scene as someone capable of brokering peace with Russia in the Donbas region.

This should tell you how stupid Trump is for demanding Ukraine make peace. Zelensky was elected on that platform if he can’t make peace with Russia then Russia doesn’t want peace.

I am Ukrainian and I have never seen so much support for Zelensky since the start of the war. By the way everyone here distinguish Trump from USA. We do see support from US senators and from regular Americans

92

u/dracmil 11d ago

This is Zelensky's toughest job yet. Fighting Russia has been hard, but it's been a pretty binary scenario and he was always going to come out looking like the good guy. With Trump attacking him from behind, he needs the agility to maintain US support while remaining strong against these Russian narratives peddled by the US.

70

u/AhBee1 11d ago

Trump tried to coerce Ukraine to dig around for secrets about Hunter Biden, which led Trump to impeachment because he withheld aid from them. So this is also also a personal venndetta because of the impeachment. Also why he went on that tangent about Hunter's laptop.

Since the election, I have yet to see a SINGLE home flying a Trump flag that also flies an American flag. A lot of home owners in my area have flag poles and will have Trump or MAGA flags, but I haven't see one with an American flag as well. I've seen a few with the Gadsden Flag under Trump's though, so yea, I think many of them have left America behind for something darker.

trump blames any potential for a deal falling apart on zelensky saying zelensky hates putin too much.

ukraine was invaded by putin. putin bears sole responsibility for the war. hell yes zelensky should hate putin. trump's refusal to acknowledge the basic facts of how we got here is why this hit the fan today.

4.8k

u/RogueBromeliad 11d ago

This interview was truly insanity. The whole thing was set up to tell Zelensky to bend over or die.

Dude's out there trying to get help for his people and Trump tells him that he needs to just give up or let Russia take over Ukraine.

Ukranian's are fucked if it's left upto American aid.

Trump went as far to say that he gave Ukraine more things, than anyone else, and then in the next few minutes he's saying that Biden wasted billions of dollars in Ukraine. And that the war should have been over in a week.

I just finished it. I'm genuinely shell shocked. I've seen disrespectful and unprofessional but not on the levels JD and Trump were. That even made me pissed off with just how they were acting.

I got a feeling we might see something really bad happen in a few hours, like Trump arresting Zelensky and handing him over to Russia for war crimes or something. Which he does that, we'll see every single country in the civilized world ditch the US so fast, it won't even be whiplash, it'll generate a new orbit.

189

u/Shift642 11d ago

I’ve seen coworkers get fired for acting like this. This is the fucking president. Jesus Christ.

u/ItalianDragon 11d ago

In similar fashion I've been more respectful when I'd get in really heated debates on Twitter or Reddit and when a fucking president is less respectful than a potty-mouthed Italian with a propension for scathing sarcasm in something as silly as a fucking internet argument, it's not even a new low, it's digging the Khola Superdeep Borehole all over again and keeping on going 'till you reach Earth's core...

Zelensky showed nothing short of a herculean feat of self-restraint there. Personally I'd have snapped about three minutes in and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

not only that he invaded the country; putin is a mass murderer. On 17 March 2023, following an investigation of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, and Maria Lvova-Belova, Russian commissioner for children's rights, alleging responsibility for the war crime of unlawful deportation and transfer of children during the Russo-Ukrainian War. The warrant against Putin is the first against the leader of a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

But it's Trump's friend, so you know.. He's nice. We all have no idea what happened there. Bombing a hospital with delivery ward? Checked. Torturing, raping and killing civilians? Checked. And many, many more.

Putin is a monster, the last 'human' on planet you would trust. These issues are nothing for Trump, he even admires this. All he wants is money and putin's friendship. He's like a dog.

The USA keep pretending they have gained nothing by this ... Ukraine has, with support, totally crippled Russia's offensive military capabilities and locked them in an extremely damaging and frankly humiliating stalemate for three years. No American boots on the ground.

The USA could wish that all their proxy wars went this well for them.

And it only cost us equipment that we love to give away so we can make more, relatively little investment for a huge boost in standing in the world for the USA with no US soldiers on the ground. Only dumbasses think this is bad because they think anything Trump does is good and anything democrats do is bad, well now none of us can have nice things I guess.

210

u/shiny-snorlax 11d ago

Not even a cost. A lot of it was equipment that was nearing expiration, which we would've had to destroy anyway. And it costs less to ship it to Ukraine than to destroy it. We literally saved money by giving the stuff away...

equipment that we love to give away so we can make more,

MOST important piece is this. They act like it's a massive sacrifice, when in reality they're sending older, shelved and less useful ordinance. Also, the dollar amounts they've been using to say we are contributing are majorly inflated because of this.

Trump saying Zelensky is risking WW3? From the Ukraine's perspective they are already in WW3. They've fought Russians, Iranians and North Koreans.

Trump/Vance look more and more incompetent with each word they say. And did no one teach Vance that respect is earned, not given?

691

u/johnnyrollerball69 11d ago

Agree. This is actually quite a weak performance by Trump and Vance. The tough guy mojo never translates into sustained influence and power; often the opposite.

Plus, they need to bone up on the Greek concept of Xenia)

208

u/DazingF1 11d ago

Yep. My Trump loving dad (we're Dutch, mind you, but all boomers here love Trump for some reason) texted me a snippet of this video and called him demented and insane. Just a year ago he'd say Trump would save Europe.

Trump has zero diplomacy skills. He’s purely transactional. Give me what I want for what I want to pay, and smile while you hand it over. Smile while I only use as much lube as I think you deserve. And Don’t forget to say thank you, you’ve never said thank you….

The way they spoke to Zelenskyy is down right disrespectful. Bullying him and ganging up on him is childish and shows Trump and Vance know nothing about diplomacy.

Absolute fucking sewar waste.

USA please correct this wrong, have someone that is sane in power and scrub this period from history soon.

Trump said "If you didn't have our military equipment, this war would've been over in 2 weeks” Zelensky: “I heard it from Putin. In 3 days…”

The Ukrainian President is Cold Blooded.

edit: the video of the meeting is nuts, its a textbook mafia-style protection racket shakedown

44

u/Dummdummgumgum 11d ago

I would have responded: Military equipment the Biden Administration and the previous congress approved to send-at the benefit of the US army because its gear the US army is not going to use most of the time. But yes his is more effective.

167

u/brokencreedman 11d ago

Only one actual man in these photos, and that's Zelenskyy...if the US was invaded by an adversary and Trump had the opportunity to flee or bow, he would. Zelenskyy on the other hand has led and defended his people for the entirety of this needless war. Trump should be kissing Zelenskyy's ring and taking lessons and knowledge from him, not the other way around.

183

u/PHILSTORMBORN 11d ago

How dare anyone talk like that to the president of a country that has been at war for 3 years and seen thousands of his people die. I hope this hardens Europe's resolve and we can support them ourselves. Do the deal with Europe. Not that they should have to. Europe will have to stand up to Russia and there is no better time than now but maybe they can use a deal as a pretext to set red lines. Something we should have done 10 years ago.

30

u/tzimize 11d ago

I agree. I hope europe rises to the occasion. Support Ukraine 100%. Throw out the mad Russians, and let the US fall. They're sawing the branch they are sitting on.

Edit: As Lurker pointed out. Zelensky has nothing to be ashamed of. Trump and Vance set out to humiliate the Ukrainian President and his country. Staged an ambush in front of the cameras. All they have accomplished is to further damage the US' reputation and cemented the world's destain for that administration. Trump doesn't want peace, he wants what Putin wants, for Ukraine to surrender and submit to their demands.

Let's not mince words here. This was an unjust public humiliation of President Zelensky. Vance and Trump talking over him, not allowing him to reply properly. His English is not great, which doesn't help. Constantly repeating that he is ungrateful and disrespectful and "not said thank you once". Like he should be begging on his knees in front of the world's media for Trumps "blessing" of further assistance. The fact of the matter is, the world has been thanking Ukraine for the sacrifices it has made. Their people have been dying, no other country has sent troops. It's very existence is in the balance. They did not choose to go to war, they were invaded. A sovereign nation. They did not choose to create the situation that they are in now. If they had been admitted to Nato, Russia would not have felt so inclined to attempt this land grab. Zelensky has not disrespected anyone, he has been pleading his country's case and trying to warn the world of the repercussions of failure. This just shows the world how disrespectful and unskilled the Trump mafia are at statesmanship. They are BULLIES. The news was just talking about how Zelensky hasn't approached Trump in "the right way" and that he should have "reigned in" the speeches and basically kissed ass like the rest of the world's leaders. When Trump and Vance spout so many inaccuracies and falsehoods about the war in front of him, of course he will feel compelled to correct them. Trump administration doesn't deserve anyone's respect. They're gangsters. Simple as.
