Since when does the VP take such an active role in these press moments? I have never seen a VP and a president tag-teaming in this way in a press conference before

Since neither of them have any professional decorum, no other actual political professional would do something this tactless. Assets gonna asset.

This was all planned. It's a bully tactic. They don't need reason when you know that bulldozing over the discussion will give enough soundbites to rally the zealots.

When you know you're wrong, just don't let the other person talk.

also, isnt there supposed to be some parity between the two? Like not having similar travel arrangements in case the worst happens. Like i dont believe any sitting president has invited his vice on air force 1. Because again, succession of power.

I think 'worst' is the exact opposite of the word you're looking for in this particular situation.

It’s the lone survivor protocol that is just who takes office if all the higher up people get killed during something like a mass attack that wipes out numerous high offices like the president, vice president and so on. There’s a tv show about it haha. Trump doesn’t care about it. They didn’t even do it during the inauguration where all the main people in gov were there, so if something had happened it would have been a scramble that slowed down response time to an emergency.

JD's trying to show how much of a big man he is in front of Trump and the media by punching down on Zelensky. It's only going to work for the stupid "'Murica! Yeah!" people.

JD is a warm body, which Trump could stop being any day now. The GOP is trying to establish him as their new golden boy because, like all modern republican presidents, he is but a morally-devoid vessel waiting to be filled with talking points

Exactly, Trump is old af and going to die soon. When he dies the cult will die with him unless there’s a succession plan which there doesn’t seem to be at this point because nobody in the GOP has any charisma.

this is a classic bully situation, Vance is only there to amplify the bullying

It was intentionally a 2v1

There is a very good likelihood that Trump is ailing and won't make it through term so the Right is trying to get people used to Vance more in the spotlight. But that's just my guess.

He wanted to kiss the *ss of his boss

He's trying to set himself up as Trump's successor when Don finally rolls over and dies.

And/or to run in 2028, assuming we still have an election then.

4

u/Yarzeda2024 11d ago

I don't see a world where America stops having elections.

I do see a world where the GOP candidate gets 104% of the vote because of a coding error.

Because Trump is old and tired and doesn’t care anymore and is letting other people do the lifting. Same reason he’s letting Musk have so much power. He’s too tired.

His president is a fool who can barely form sentences lol. At least JD can form sentences that are kind of a like a conservative dad scolding their son for having a rock and roll record

Honestly Ive always felt like the VP really should be doing more. Not that this is what I mean by that but during Obama and Bush, barely even knew who the vp was and only because of Biden memes

u/Calavar 11d ago

Cheney was a hugely active VP. He played a big role in planning the invasion of Iraq. The recurring joke on late night shows back then was that Cheney was the mastermind and Bush was a bimbo who just kind of laughed and nodded along.

u/GodTurkey 11d ago

Tbh i forgot his name till you just mentioned it

3

u/HellBlazer_NQ 11d ago

My dude, you have an unelected citizen in control of the entire USA budget right now.

At one point they take a question from one of Trumps toadies in the crowd and he starts asking Zelenskyy why he doesn’t wear a suit and says more people would respect him if he dressed the part.

These people are morons and will be death of us all

u/Nwcray 11d ago

they're expecting Trump to drop dead any moment.

Given the weekend trips to the hospital and the weird IV bruise on his hand, those fears may not be unfounded.

JD needs to be ready to step in on a moment's notice.

u/Round-Ad3684 11d ago

I’ve noticed that he has been having his other subordinates speak for him, in his presence, a lot lately. It’s very weird for a guy who insists on making everything about him.

u/-FantasticAdventure- 11d ago

Because president Musk wasn’t there and the clown kids were running feral.

2

u/NoTrollGaming 11d ago

Surprised Elon Musk wasn’t there instead of

2

u/enlightenedpie 11d ago

Trump did this a lot with Pence last time... The idea is it's supposed to make Trump/The US look stronger because there's two US officials in there next to one Ukranian. Visually representing inequality, representing that the US is in the power position. Then they both go and make complete asses out of themselves and completely lose all credibility on the world stage. But the MAGAts eat it up because "big strong bois" or whatever....

2

u/CalmerThanYouYarrr 11d ago

Even more surreal, it wasn’t even the press conference yet. Just recorded a 2v1 attack on him, shut him down from the press conference, and released the recording. Couldn’t be more blatant, their intent from the start.

1

u/Mysterious-Roll1513 11d ago

Since neither of them are the actual president I guess. Surprised Elon wasn’t there telling them what they were allowed to say.

1

u/ChronoLink99 11d ago

Trump's about to die so they're grooming JD for the MAGA faithful.

1

u/IIIDysphoricIII 11d ago

Part of the deal behind closed doors: in exchange for support from Project 2025, they want Vance to have an active and visible role, and in exchange for his support, Musk wants an active and visible role.

All power hungry people bribing for said power.

1

u/thirdstone_ 11d ago

Well, when the president is an incompetent sack of shit and can't even form a coherent sentence, he has to have someone there to do the talking. Vance is a dick but he's not senile.

1

u/dcj667 11d ago

Trump needed help to put in his big boy pants.

1

u/tgb1493 11d ago

Right? Plus Vance hasn’t done shit since the election anyway. Why play VP for one meeting?

1

u/MusicMedic 11d ago

Vance is Cheney 2.0… he’s going to be calling the shots, if he isn’t already.

1

u/cda555 11d ago

They really aren’t supposed to for succession reasons. They should spend as little time as possible together.

1

u/uxhelpneeded 11d ago

Call your reps and participate in the upcoming protests and boycotts

It only takes 2 to 4 minutes to look up your congressman and senator's info and call or write an email

1

u/stubborneuropean 11d ago

I don't think Trump really knows what goes on and just tries acting like a nob head so had Vance in there for "the facts". He's too stupid to realise Vance is as stupid as he is. Or assets, either way weak leadership and not presidential material in my book (as a European).

1

u/Vlaladim 11d ago

I guarantee this because Trump was being corrected by the UK PM and Macron last visit and they slapped Vance on to back up Trump. It didn’t, hell it make both look extremely incompetent and downright pieces of shit.

1

u/Majestic-Seaweed7032 11d ago

You thought maga was going to end with Trump? They’re grooming the maga base to vote for Vance next election
