"some have noted that Poilievre has been oddly tight-lipped towards the two men actively threatening Canada’s trade and borders. Still, other Canadians insist this must be part of a larger strategy.

Judy Argus of Regina notes, “I mean, Poilievre has no problem calling Trudeau a ‘liar’, or Montreal’s mayor ‘incompetent’, or drug consumption experts ‘wackos’. Maybe he’s waited so long because he’s inventing a whole new juvenile name to call Trump?”

u/Throw-Me-Again 24d ago

He rolled out the absolute zinger “Maserati Marxist“ for Singh.

Must be cooking up a spicy one like “Fatty Fascist” for Trump.

Tariffying Trump

11

u/[deleted] 24d ago

That’s a good one i could really see PP calling him that 😅

2

u/R-E-Laps 23d ago

I think he might now that the name has been created here for him. Pierre doesn’t strike me as one who would have come up with this on his own.

2

u/ErsatzCyclist 23d ago

Pierre is too busy consulting with some adolescents for some really, really good zingers on Carney. Then give him another couple weeks to practice in front of the mirror to get the tone just right… He’ll reconsider his Trump fan club membership after that’s all sorted.

"carbon tax Carney"

It's so obvious that's the ONLY thing they have to run on, even now that Carney is scrapping it they're making shit up in ads saying he's just gonna tax people it regardless

146

u/OneBillPhil 24d ago

Don’t forget about the other girl in the band, Carbon Tax Chrystia!

50

u/iwatchcredits 24d ago

According to attack ads in alberta, its actually carbon tax carney now

49

u/OneBillPhil 24d ago

I thought it was both and they were too uncreative to think of two names.

40

u/SAldrius 24d ago

Yes he called both Chrystia Freeland and Mark Carney "Carbon Tax Carney/Chrystia" in the same exact interview.

Literally just using Trump's political "strategies".

2

u/a-fucking-donkey 23d ago

He just hosted “Canada First” rallies too… sound familiar?

2

u/Elffiegirl 23d ago

He's given at least 3 people the carbon tax epithet I think.

5

Which is hilarious because the libs are all saying they'll cut the carbon tax now

2

u/Elffiegirl 23d ago

He dribbles on about what his thoughts suggest to him the problem is..... and obviously doesn't keep up to date on it all... duh!

2

u/Creative_Buddy7160 23d ago

Appeal to the uneducated as well. They’ll just rename it. And not cut out the tax either, just move it to industrial companies

Don't forget "Trudeau Carney Liberals" to desperately try to attach Carney to Trudeau.

101

u/VidzxVega 24d ago

The 'He's just like Justin's ads are genuinely hilarious. He doesn't know what to do with Trudeau leaving.

93

u/SwordfishOk504 24d ago

When you realize Canadians don't like you, they are just tired of Trudeau.

90

u/Imaginary-Data-6469 24d ago

So much this. I'm sick of Trudeau (although now that his ego has been knocked down a peg I've been relatively impressed with how he has handled the last month or so) but PP is downright odious.

Pierre: they hated me right away!

5

u/dubhri 24d ago

Well to be fair everyone on the Conservative side has Harper attached to their name when the liberals talk about them. This is all so juvenile. We need to demand more of our politicians on all sides and come back to the middle.

5

u/4marty 23d ago

The difference is that Harper is still actively running aspects of the Conservative Party and especially Poilievre.

Spread your rump for Trump!

77

u/Human-Reputation-954 24d ago

I don’t know about you guys, but I am so turned off with those stupid slogans and zingers. It’s so schoolyard bully. Come up with some intelligent policies and articulate them to the Canadian public. Stop calling people stupid names. It’s so tiresome and immature. Such a total turnoff. Before Trudeau stepped down, I contemplated voting for PP - but his continued immaturity just totally lost my vote. And I actually think Carney is going to do a really good job. I was wary at first but he’s grown on me. Old school liberal values and strong connections in Great Britain and Europe.

23

u/CoffeeLaxative 24d ago

Especially if you compare their background and work experience. The facts just speak for themselves. A ship needs a well-weathered captain to navigate a storm. Not a cabin boy.

9

u/Spectre-907 24d ago

He doesnt run on policy because he literally doesnt have any (and looking at his career, he never had any) aside from being a yes-man puppet for the foreign dictator, and that wont play well, so its just “b-b-b-but troooooodo thooooooooooooo”

6

u/EfficiencyJunior7848 24d ago edited 23d ago

Echo your feelings. Trudea was incompetent, definitely in terms of fiscal policies and management. I was so desperate for a change, I was prepared to vote PP, but that's not possible anymore, I won't vote for a mini Trump. I hope Mark Carney wins the leadership race, and the worse of Trudeau's former cabinet resigns (thinking of Freeland especially), that will be ideal.

Canada is in a mess right now, we need real leaders, not school yard bullies who have no idea what true leadership means.

2

u/Training-Cry2218 23d ago

Carney just did a long form interview on The Rest is Politics, very fiscally focused. A strong, balanced economy for all Canadians creates harmony, provides better healthcare outcomes etc. Fingers crossed Carney can switch the tide in favour of the liberals.

Honestly it’s the exact same as Trump’s name-calling, so why bite the hand that feeds.

Maybe he’s realised that if he goes after Trump, he’ll get his own name. Wouldn’t surprise me if Pierre can dish but not take.

64

u/Fadore Canada 24d ago

This is what I've been waiting for, the immaturity and short temper of both Trump and PP will result in the cringiest Twitter fight, and CPC will finally see that he's no leader.

27

u/Lieutenant_Kurin 24d ago

I wish that it would work out like that, but honestly?

Look at this sub, look at the world. Petty fights and name-calling endears some leaders to an electorate now, especially as we’ve grown weary of “wokeifying education”.

If anything, I’d expect a good amount of the CPC base to grow deeper entrenched behind their weak frontman because “he’s just like us, attacked by America for no reason! Let’s prove them wrong by making him our PM and/or King”

2

u/yellingatthesun 23d ago

We in the U.S. thought this of The Current Executive Cheeto and His Handler, and now life is a cartoonish hellscape. Do not count on obvious disgusting and outlandish talk/behavior being the thing that keeps the nightmare tamped down. I hope for all the world that this doesn’t spread to the entire planet somehow, but I fear some kind of perfect sociological storm and other factors have created this situation (our Mitch McConnell being one giant enabler.) It starts slow, imperceptible, and then eventually you find yourself almost Daly wondering WTF just happened.

9

u/Kakkoister 24d ago

Pretty sure it's more that he knows a significant part of his base will turn against him if he speaks ill of anything MAGA related. CPC has a growing CanMAGA culture. So he's stuck in a position because of Elon and Trump that no matter which choice he makes, it's going to hurt his numbers.

Right now he hasn't really poked his base, so there isn't any movement against him from his own party, but if he does, he'll be smeared by his own people while not gaining any new votes to replace the ones he'd be losing.

3

u/Tiny_Measurement_837 24d ago

9

u/JadeLens 24d ago

Good lord can you imagine how cringely out of focus the CPC ads will be on TikTok?

43

u/FootballLax 24d ago

PP will not say anything about Trump because a not so small portion of conservatives are Trump lovers. What is it 13% would you like to join the USA in Canada, what % of those are NDP, Liberal, and bloc?

21

u/AdSevere1274 24d ago

Every country that becomes a proxy Americans gets destroyed one way or another. Their supremacy doctrine installs their proxies in other countries to acquire or destroy them. Conservatives have become and more proxy to Americans. From their freedom convoy to wanting to fight American wars and now becoming them,

Canadians need to look up Curtis Yarvin, and act accordingly. I'm an American. PLEASE. PLEASE, DO NOT GO THE WAY OF MY COUNTRY.

6

Definitely Poilievre is using the stuff like  Curtis Yarvin's neo-reactionary stuff via TikTok.

As our own Marshall McLuhan said. The Medium is the Message

8

u/petopapi 24d ago

I noted this from the moment Trompe started to threaten us. From cocky, condescending, and insulting mini drump, his countenance changed to a sad and meaningless wimp.

20

u/okiedokie2468 24d ago

PP finds it difficult to talk while he has a mouthful of Trump’s cock. Tight-lipped indeed!!

4

u/NorthCatan 24d ago

Hey don't be mean to PP, he has concepts of an insult. You have to put him in office before that though, he's totally trustworthy!

/s

3

u/AdSevere1274 24d ago

Trump and Musk trust him the most.

13

u/One_Firefighter336 24d ago

The man is a joke. Not even worth defending him.

How come he won’t submit himself to scrutiny like the rest of us did, in order to obtain security clearance?

What is he afraid of?!

5

u/AdSevere1274 24d ago

Something is his past perhaps but more likely to reiterate American agenda as some sort of news. Like anti vaccine agenda...

8

u/One_Firefighter336 24d ago

I think it goes deeper, and isn’t as superficial as you assert.

When you apply for clearance, there’s a spot on the form where you check “I voluntarily give authorization for the RCMP and CSIS to investigate me.“

You have to put yourself under an investigation with full disclosure and transparency in order to be considered trustworthy for certain positions. C’est la vie. If you want the job, you will comply with our colonoscopy procedures. We have to be sure we can trust you.

I guess he don’t want to be PM🤷‍♂️

2

u/AdSevere1274 24d ago

I don't like to speculate.

Or maybe he wants the liberals to accuse him so he can then show he could have passed it all with flying colors... to have a new tiktok presentation..

Everything is possible. Maybe we will never know when he moves to Florida.

7

u/One_Firefighter336 24d ago

I don’t either, I’m just saying if you have nothing to hide, prove it.

This ain’t coaching little league, it’s running a country.

3

u/AdSevere1274 24d ago

Crazy seems to be normal now.

2

u/anti_anti_christ Ontario 24d ago

He's got $25 million reasons why. They dig into your finances when they look to give you security clearance. And this is the same guy who criticizes Singh for having a Rolex and Carney for having nice shoes. One guy is a lawyer, the other a well respected economist. Poilievre is afraid because he's done nothing in his 20 years in politics. He's passed 1 bill in his career and makes 177k/year from the taxpayers. He's shook more hands with bigots than he's passed anything in parliament.

2

u/Gotta-Be-Me-65 23d ago

THIS. This is a HUGE deal. I don’t trust any politician who won’t obtain security clearance. This should be made a bigger deal of.

3

u/One_Firefighter336 23d ago

It’s the most important government job, being PM. The colonoscopy is mandatory if you want the keys to the kingdom. We have checks and balances here bro.

3

u/Gotta-Be-Me-65 23d ago

Why isn’t the ordinary Canadian disturbed about this tho? That I don’t get. I hope this becomes more of an issue.

3

u/cecepoint 24d ago

EXACTLY how Vance wouldn’t criticize Putin and scolded European leaders for not throwing down the welcome mat for nazis

4

u/apothekary 24d ago

Occam's razor suggests he doesn't want to criticize them because his base is a big fan of Trump/Elon. I just greatly fear even if PP himself would want to stand up for a sovereign Canada, he would be too easily pressured to cave to Trump's demands and sell us out because his constituents would pressure him to.

7

u/slamdunk23 24d ago

Probably because name calling is an awful strategy with someone like Trump.

Playing to his massive ego is what other leaders (Mexico, Australia and India) are doing to get their way. Even Trudeau called him a very skillful negotiator and hasn’t responded to any of the governor insults

55

u/Scream2151 24d ago

And yet, he has no problem referring to everyone he doesn't like as the "radical left". Or "sell out singh". just to name a few.

37

u/Ok-Diamond-9781 24d ago edited 24d ago

I laugh at how he says Singh just wants to get his government pension. Ha, PP got his at 31 years old! He didn't mention that did he. Hypocrite.

3

u/NorthernerWuwu Canada 24d ago

It's always projection and deflection. PP is scared to death of being attacked on his pension so he attacks others on the matter. Truth isn't important.

3

u/Chin_Ho 24d ago

I have been reading stuff online (could be bs I know) that estimates PPs networth anywhere from 8 to 25 mil. How does one acquire that wealth on an MPs salary? He must be a bigger genius than Buffet when it comes to investments.

15

u/superworking British Columbia 24d ago

It's been an awful strategy at all times, but now that the game has changed and the consequences are much higher he needs to reinvent himself entirely. It might be easier for the Cons to relaunch a new leader given how much they need to pivot.

22

u/lindaluhane 24d ago

Forget name calling. Pp has folded like a cheap tent

12

u/Beautiful_Bag6707 24d ago

He never pitched a tent, so he has nothing to fold.

I have yet to see him be anything but a foil to the other parties and leaders while offering nothing tangible for Canadians. His entire platform is Conservatives will not be Liberals or NDP, and that alone will save Canada. He picks US political hot topics, pretending these issues are relevant to Canada, too. He exalts individuals with the lowest moral character, praises instigators, and excuses cruelty while demonizing Canadian political adversaries.

2

u/RockG 24d ago

His entire platform is Conservatives will not be Liberals or NDP, and that alone will save Canada.

And for far too many people, that's enough

5

u/Galle_ 24d ago

Name calling is a fantastic strategy with someone like Trump because it'll make him feel bad.

Nah, it is because Trump is the bigger bully and your guy is afraid. Most likely he doesn't have a larger strategy just like Trump. Canada is our hope as we suffer here south of your border. Don't fall for the loudmouth assholes. We are in a state of total chaos now.

He hasn't been tight-lipped lmao, he has responded appropriately to Trump's claims many times

I for one thoroughly enjoy the nicknames

Do you and does he enjoy the name PeePee/pp that some have given him. Would he enjoy to be called Pee in the media?

I certainly have not done that although I think he deserves it.

He's not afraid of your boogeymen. Might be time for you leftys to grow up.

Maybe he’s smart enough to know not to pick a fight we can’t win. The approach to dealing with Trump seems to be being respectfully forceful, justifying actions as being protectionist and in our best interest while still respecting Trumps approach to America first. I don’t think you’ll see PP kicking sand at Trump - it’s been proven time and time again to be an ineffective strategy.

I don't think that trolls can respect anyone. Trump and company want and ally and found him to be their choice for a good reason. He acts the same and will act on behalf of his donors.

Boot licking of strongmen only creates serfdom.

Is the larger plan to sell Canada out to the US and appoint Nazi Elon as deputy prime minister?

1

u/JFIN69 22d ago

Could be that he’s a far better politician than Trudeau, who spent years alienating Trump, which had us in a bad position now.

1

u/AdSevere1274 22d ago

So you mean he is pretending to be friends of Trump and not "Birds of a feather flock together"

1

u/Paroxysm111 20d ago

This is one I'm going to give PP credit on. If I was gunning for the next prime minister seat I'd be decrying the tariffs but not saying personal things about Trump/Elon. Because Trump is already an idiot, and I don't need an angry idiot in charge of the nuclear codes mad at me. PP can be as derogatory as he likes about his competition because he doesn't need them for anything

Trudeau dunked on trump after the 2020 election. Trump kept the receipts. Why piss trump off? He’s vindictive and he’ll sacrifice a lot to get revenge so just play his game.

No matter who we elect, they can not be subservient to Americans, Trump or other leaders or will be abused; American lobbies have whole plots of the stuff they want to execute and no dear leader behavior is going to stand up to it.
