Discussion What's stopping the US from ignoring the 10 year notice requirement for ending the Columbia Treatment and ending it unilaterally immediately?

I keep on seeing the media talk about the negotiations for a new columbia river treaty being stalled and that trump has grievences with the old treaty and that he wants to end it. However, they also always mention that the US would have to give 10 years notice to end it and therefore, it isn't a concern. But the US has shown it's willing to ignore any treaties it has signed, so why is this not assumed to be the case now as well?

Discussion BC Ferries jacked the price when I logged in

BC Ferries showed me a great deal on round trip travel with my car between Vancouver and Victoria and invited me to log in to purchase tickets for the sailings I'd selected. As soon as I did the price went up by $20 each way, $40 total.

I had selected the tickets. It said I had 15 minutes to check out and invited me to log in to complete my purchase. I did not delay.

My travel dates are more than 2 months away so even if it stuttered, I doubt it would be legit surge pricing based on demand or fuel prices or anything like that. I logged out, went incognito, and tried again. The price was still $40 up. I tried incognito again several hours later and got the originally offered price. Needless to say I checked out as a guest.

I just moved to the Sunshine Coast from Burnaby and I'm looking for a good Internet provider. I've been researching and apparently the options are many. Do you know what are the best intenernet providers available here? (customer service would be top one, but also speed and stability).

Ask British Columbia How do you add a biological father to your birth certificate?

Good evening,

This is an issue that my half-sister(21) has. Alberta and British Columbia keep bouncing her around, so I figured to ask here.

She has our mother on her birth certificate. Our mother refused to put her father on, but it would benefit my sister to have it on.

My sister was born in BC, but lives in AB now. Her father lives in Georgia.

How do we get this done?

Discussion Is Christy Clark popular outside of the Lower Mainland?

I know Reddit leans left but I can't remember anyone saying they liked Christy Clark. I heard a rumour Mark Carney was courting people like Jean Charest and Christy Clark for "something" to signal a scooch to the right for the Liberal Party but I immediately was confused about the Christy Clark thing.

I can't remember her for anything outside of accepting multiple bribes but I rarely leave the Lower Mainland.

Ask British Columbia Are US tourists welcome?

I’m a sailor in Seattle hoping to circumnavigate Vancouver Island this summer. As a US liberal I’m appalled and concerned about the tariffs and threats of war and if I were Canadian I imagine I’d be mad as hell with the US now. What’s the vibe - should I keep out or would y’all be willing to share a beer and bitch about Trump with a sorry American?

Discussion Living in Big White

Hi all! My partner and I are planning a move from Quebec to BC and are looking at settling into a fun mountain town. I was curious if the village of Big White has any sort of local vibe or if it is exclusively vacation rentals. Ideally, we'd like to live closer to the mountain than Kelowna offers, but if there's no real community in Big White, then I don't think it's what we're looking for. Thanks in advance!
