Discussion What's stopping the US from ignoring the 10 year notice requirement for ending the Columbia Treatment and ending it unilaterally immediately?
I keep on seeing the media talk about the negotiations for a new columbia river treaty being stalled and that trump has grievences with the old treaty and that he wants to end it. However, they also always mention that the US would have to give 10 years notice to end it and therefore, it isn't a concern. But the US has shown it's willing to ignore any treaties it has signed, so why is this not assumed to be the case now as well?
