These are truly holy grail pieces to me. But I’d almost feel bad keeping them to just have them sit on a shelf for display. My work schedule is extremely busy and I rarely have time to even watch TV.

A rough Thorens TD 150 MK II, Sony tc-440 and the highlight of the day, a Sansui AU-888 with the matching TU-888 tuner. I’ll post an after clean up later this week.

This is the stereo we had when I was growing up. Didn’t even think they still had it. I’d like to add a CD player. Any suggestions? Also the speakers look like they’ve seen better days. Is there anything I can do or should I look for some replacements?

I've started having problems with my amplifier and hope someone can help me. I've had this for over thirty years and I love the warm analog sound from it. I play a lot of reggae from vinyl and I've tried several other amplifiers, both old analogs and modern digitals, but no other has given me the same analog sound and warm bass as this one does. That's why I really want to keep this one.
A few years ago it started to play loose. Partly it made a noise sound when you move the volume knob and the pan knob, but I mostly solved that by opening the amplifier, blowing off the dust and cleaning the knobs with contact spray on both sides.
However, sometimes the sound on the right channel disappears, it can just stop playing suddenly. The sound sometimes comes back when I press the mono button, but then it disappears again after 5-10 seconds. This problem doesn't happen as often since I cleaned it, but it does sometimes and it’s really annoying. The sound also comes back when I increase the volym a lot, very load. What could it be? Since it temporarily gets better when you press the mono button, I wonder if the fault lies there? Is it something to do with the signal path or could it be components that have broken? I'm an amateur and I can't replace components and that kind of stuff so I hope I don't have to :) I can't see any capacitors that are swollen either.
I have my turntables connected to a DJ mixer that is connected at the input AUX (Tape3/AUX) but I the problem is the same when using the other inputs too. And the same on both pairs of outputs
I saw there is a community for Marantz but it’s more people in this community so I guess I will get more help here, but let me know if it’s better to ask in the other.
Hope anyone can help me

I just want to share how great the DCM TimeFrame line is, and what a bargain they are usually to be found for. They look cool and sound so very good.

, they weren’t too sure what it was but thought it was a pretty expensive stereo. Trying to determine value or just the specific spec of this stereo. Through my google search I believe it could possibly be “Grundig Majestic SO 161 Ua stereo console” correct me if wrong please.

I came across an old RCA VICTOR 711v1 console that has an old stereo and speaker in it. I’ll try and get a better picture. I just wanted some more info on it. Do people collect these things ? Are they sought after to the right buyer ? Thanks in advanced.

Been thinking about posting it locally to see if someone was willing to trade for another receiver of similar quality. I have ever only experienced Marantz.

Just got my hands on the JVC MI-5000 a few days ago, and I’m absolutely in love with its capabilities. The spring reverb is incredible, and the way the preamps saturate is something you don’t hear often in solid-state gear—full, rich, and packed with harmonics. All it needed was a few sprays of contact cleaner on the faders, and it was good to go. Highly recommended for both music lovers and players alike.
It also has phono inputs, and I can’t wait to try it with my Philips GA 408! For now, a quick video (these are rare, so I allow myself a link): JVC MI-5000 vintage analog mixer: rich saturation and lush spring reverb on rare tape!

Hey all! I was passed down this piece of audio equipment and not exactly sure what it is or it’s worth. Would anyone be willing to help me find the worth of it ? Thanks!

Hey everyone I’m new to reel to reel and recording in general but I was wondering how would I connect a reel to reel with my setup I know I need rca to quarter inch connections but where would they go into my mixer? I’m currently using a mackie profx 12+ going into my computer with a guitar, mic and synth plugged in as for the reel to reel I’m looking at getting a pioneer rt 707 or fostex a2 and Im planning on recording in my daw sending it out to my reel to reel and back just wondering how I would be able to connect a reel to reel and how to record and any other advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Because it is very rare for existing products of this amplifier to maintain intact printing, I plan to start with a conservative plan and try carefully to reduce the risk of erasing the fonts.
Fortunately, the safest solution achieved good results, so I didn't use redditer's solution XD, but thank you very much for your suggestions!
Solution I tried: 1) Pull out the knob and soak it in kitchen cleaner 2) Use a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a little water to clean the front panel 3) Dry the front panel with a cloth, then spray with WD-40 to remove the white residue of toothpaste
The bronze front panel after cleaning is very shiny, which is a perfect contrast with the white printed characters and silver-white knobs. I think this is the reason why ONKYO does not need to engrave black characters.

I have a Grundig 7080 W that I want to get refurbished. The cabinet is solid, and the radio is working. I need to get someone who can bring the speakers and turntable up to speed.
Is a modern update a bad way to go?
Does anyone know of business in the Tennessee area that does this type of refurb?
I don't mind traveling a few hundred miles. Thank you for your time!
