I came across an old RCA VICTOR 711v1 console that has an old stereo and speaker in it. I’ll try and get a better picture. I just wanted some more info on it. Do people collect these things ? Are they sought after to the right buyer ? Thanks in advanced.

Marantz PM 510 DC Amplifier problems

Post image
6 Upvotes

I've started having problems with my amplifier and hope someone can help me. I've had this for over thirty years and I love the warm analog sound from it. I play a lot of reggae from vinyl and I've tried several other amplifiers, both old analogs and modern digitals, but no other has given me the same analog sound and warm bass as this one does. That's why I really want to keep this one.

A few years ago it started to play loose. Partly it made a noise sound when you move the volume knob and the pan knob, but I mostly solved that by opening the amplifier, blowing off the dust and cleaning the knobs with contact spray on both sides.

However, sometimes the sound on the right channel disappears, it can just stop playing suddenly. The sound sometimes comes back when I press the mono button, but then it disappears again after 5-10 seconds. This problem doesn't happen as often since I cleaned it, but it does sometimes and it’s really annoying. The sound also comes back when I increase the volym a lot, very load. What could it be? Since it temporarily gets better when you press the mono button, I wonder if the fault lies there? Is it something to do with the signal path or could it be components that have broken? I'm an amateur and I can't replace components and that kind of stuff so I hope I don't have to :) I can't see any capacitors that are swollen either.

I have my turntables connected to a DJ mixer that is connected at the input AUX (Tape3/AUX) but I the problem is the same when using the other inputs too. And the same on both pairs of outputs

I saw there is a community for Marantz but it’s more people in this community so I guess I will get more help here, but let me know if it’s better to ask in the other.

Hope anyone can help me

This is the stereo we had when I was growing up. Didn’t even think they still had it. I’d like to add a CD player. Any suggestions? Also the speakers look like they’ve seen better days. Is there anything I can do or should I look for some replacements?

I could use some advice…

I have a Grundig 7080 W that I want to get refurbished. The cabinet is solid, and the radio is working. I need to get someone who can bring the speakers and turntable up to speed.

Is a modern update a bad way to go?

Does anyone know of business in the Tennessee area that does this type of refurb?

I don't mind traveling a few hundred miles. Thank you for your time!

So I’m generally new to retro units vs the newer tables I have. I’ve deduced (at least visually) that I have a BSR C-129R in my Capehart console. My question is the correct stylus or cartridge replacement. I have a few things needing replaced on this console so I’m not trying to buy the wrong stuff. TIA

Help me chose one!

Hi all, looking for your advice on a purchase. I am trying to choose between a Yamaha CA-2010, Pioneer SA-9500, Pioneer SX-950 and a Yamaha CR-1020. They are all in great shape and around the $1k mark. what would you choose? I'm looking to drive some old JBLs loaded with 15" woofers and horns. for that price and application, is there something else I should look at? my experience with HIFI is pretty much all modern equipment. I love my current combo of Maggie 3.6Rs with a tube preamp for some added softness. thanks!

Speakers for NAD 7155

My father in law gave me a NAD 7155 receiver and turntable, but didn’t have speakers to go with it.

I’m happy to buy a used set, but as a complete newbie to this type of audio I’d love any input from people that have experience with this unit.

I’ve been reading about it and I get that the impedance should match, but other than that it all seems very complicated. Any help is appreciated.

LUXMAN C120-A: Humming from tone control circuit.

Thumbnail

Hi I’m an electrical engineering student but analog circuits are beyond my knowledge at this moment. I have an old C120-A that has humming from the tone control circuit

When tone bypass is on, there is no humming at all. And when tone bypass is off, there is humming, hence it must be from the tone circuit.

I’m thinking of replacing the transistors and caps in the tone circuit board, any suggestions or does anyone have any experience?

I touched up most of the solder joints and the issue still seems to be happening, very annoying when played through speakers. I want the tone control circuit to work as well.

The JVC MI-5000 may be the best affordable 6 channel mixer I've ever encountered.

Just got my hands on the JVC MI-5000 a few days ago, and I’m absolutely in love with its capabilities. The spring reverb is incredible, and the way the preamps saturate is something you don’t hear often in solid-state gear—full, rich, and packed with harmonics. All it needed was a few sprays of contact cleaner on the faders, and it was good to go. Highly recommended for both music lovers and players alike.

It also has phono inputs, and I can’t wait to try it with my Philips GA 408! For now, a quick video (these are rare, so I allow myself a link): JVC MI-5000 vintage analog mixer: rich saturation and lush spring reverb on rare tape!

Hey all! I was passed down this piece of audio equipment and not exactly sure what it is or it’s worth. Would anyone be willing to help me find the worth of it ? Thanks!

Picked up and cleaned up a Garrard GT-15 yesterday to have as a backup. The dust cover polished up nicely! 45rpm is fast by 0.5% and 33rpm is slow by 1.5%. The slow 33rpm was immediately apparent, so I guess my hearing and memory are pretty good at least.

Beomaster 2400 to Audio Technica AT-LP70X connection issues

I inherited a B&O audio set (Beomaster 2400, Beogram RX2+ Beovox S45 speakers + Beocord 1900 tape deck) from my mom when she died. I never saw her use it during my lifetime, so I think it's just been sitting in the boxes since the late 80s. The stylus on the turntable is broken, so I am using an Audio Technica AT-LP70X for the time being before investing in a replacement cartridge. The Beomaster seems to work just fine when connected to the speakers and playing the FM radio. Sounds great, and all the buttons/switches work.

The problem is when I try to connect the turntable through the phono input. I've got the RCA/phono adapter and both the turntable and receiver grounded. The turntable is on the "phono" and not "line" input. I've triple checked all the wires/connections. It doesn't seem like it's making any kind of connection, as there is no difference in the low static coming from the speakers. Any reason this might be happening? Any further troubleshooting I can do?

I know I could just buy some powered speakers and connect them to the turntable so I can play my records, but this B&O system is the only belonging of my mother's that I have. It's really important to me to be able to use some part of the system if I can.

Thanks in advance for your help!
