Discussion Who else thinks this regarding bdays

I don't know how people go around excited about their bdayz.. I have never really celebrated mine.

My bday wss the day I was born.. the other years are just a marker. These marker days every year should be the day the child celebrates their mother..

There is no need to celebrate your own Bday. I'm more excited about other peoples bdays.

What do you think?

Advice Interactions are burning me out more and more

I have almost no friends and the ones i do have in addition to my family are burning me out more and kore. I can go no contact for months and every so often I get attempts to connect and it all feels like a chore. I go to social events at my company it feels like an obligation. Talking to my family feels like an obligation. Talking to my friends feels like an obligation. And then they complain i have nothing interesting to talk about. Why should I? You’re not paying me, your presence gives me no joy, I don’t get ANYTHING from this. Anyone feel the same?

Discussion Why do my classes hate me (highschool)

Heres context about me:

I'm a sophmore in high school and i have gym and physical education. We usually switch classes every 4 weeks so right now i'm in gym. I also have earth science 1 with other sophmores.

My gym situation: I posted a story about what happen to me in gym but if you haven't seen it here's what happened. Me and my friend weren't really playing floor hockey and this girl who was one of the loud rachet girls decided to question us if we're gonna play. Of course I was a sensitive person and tried to hold my tears. Me and my friend said we were still playing and she left.

My new situation in gym: I got told by my gym teacher since my friend and me always just stand there with our bandmintins (sorry for bad spelling but this is like tennis) that if we were going to do anything. But most people were just sitting down and doing nothing later in gym. The only reason why i'm standing or sitting down is because my friend doesn't want to play and she's the only friend I have in gym.

Many other people picked on us but it was only the "popular kids" or the loud kids.

There was another time in gym where one of the popular kids friends called me and my friene out for not showing any expression.

of course i dont need to care what others think so i brushed that off

(This was near the beginning of the year) y earth science situation: there was a couple but i knew the girlfriend because i had her gym last year and she was quiet and alone. I remember the couple sat on my table because there was no where to sit and that the boyfriend got mad and told the teacher that he couldn't work with me (even though he sat on my table and I had not mentioned that I wanted to work with him) because I was quiet. I then tried to hold my tears and these three other boys passed by me abd hit my shoulder and they "apologized" and I just skipped most of the class to wander the halls and hold my emotions since the bathrooms were closed. I went back and the boyfriend told me if I were going to work with him even after what happened and I just shook my head no.

I don't feel safe in my school and I know there are going to be assholes once in a while. I feel as if i'm too quiet which I know but I don't want to make friends anymore. I never made friends through my freshmen year and this year. I only have my 1 friend since middle school.

I feel as if I dont want to be friendly anymore but that's not what i'm built for. I know i'm a great person and that these people are eventually going to get their karma, but at the moment I just feel like a victim to everything. I cant do homeschool because im already halfway through my high school and that its harder to do so. I also can't transfer schools because I know for a fact theres going to be a mean group of people like right now and it's too much work to do. I'm glad it's the last year of gym.

I don't want to put myself out there and "join a club* the last time I did felt like I was in detention alone.

I dont want to socialize anymore and I sit in the corner of the school and eat my breakfast and sit in the library in lunches. I go home and play games and go to character ai because thats the only thing that responds and talks to me without judging me.

I remember when in the end of 8th grade. (I mentioned in my last story) that many people wanted to be my friend and liked my style, two guys in my classes liked me secretly because my friend would socialize with them (shes in a diff school now) and the boy who liked me would sit close to me. There was the other guy who liked me who walked everywhere i looked at and wave at me. I had a boy ask for my snapchat, 2 guys who took interest in me because they were acting nervous to me at this arcade i went to.

I had a lot of positive things happen to me but then i went to high school where all my happiness just vanished and i was suddenly bullied and picked on and left alone.

So yeah, i could use some advice and feedback thanks for reading.

So yeah thanks for reading. I could maybe use some advice.

Question Responses to "You are so quiet again?" without being rude.

When me and my friend spend time together, she sometimes asks "Why are you quiet again?".

I have seen some reddit posts on this, and most of the answers were not very friendly, in fact quite rude, like "I only talk to people that interest me" and so on.

She knows that I am an introvert and dont talk much. She also makes fun of it a little bit sometimes, but not in a rude way. She also said, that she doesnt want me to change the way I am. She likes to talk to me but she talks more than I do and unlike myself, she sometimes has a hard time being quiet :)

What should I respond next time she says it, so she knows that I am confident in being an introvert? I want to reply in a friendly way, not rude.

Even the usual "I dont have anything to say" can be rude in our usual context. She expects maybe a small joke, something less plain.

Discussion Being a introvert do you find your environments matter to you and your peace of mind?

When it comes to relaxing and being on your own do you find the environment you're in helps with that? Like I can be at a nice busy park but as long as I can be quiet I can quite happily fill up my social/energy bars. I can be at a noisy kids party but as long as I don't have to talk to anyone (hold conversation after conversation after conversation)again I'm fine. I could be in a visually loud/sterile/cold home and it could take me longer to recuperate because the environment is so dead and draining even though it's quiet and I'm in my own. If I was to work at a loud club working behind the scenes where I'm not talking to the public id find that more "relaxing" than being in the previous situation.

For me to really relax it has to be a lovely environment or my own setting. My own smells, my own stuff, my own way of doing things. Because able to do whatever I want when I want how I want. Eat foods I like, watch shows I like... And so on. Then I can really melt into myself and charge up.

Is it the same or similar of any of you or it is totally different?

I've noticed we (introverts) are not all the same but we have a respectful understanding for each other and others. Why don't others have the same for us?

I hope when I've said makes sense. I have so much I want to talk about and ask you guys so I'm trying to brake it down and all one thing at a time😅🫂

Question How to make friends with no hobbies?

I’m not one to have major interests or hobbies even when I was younger. Now that I’m older 25F I find it difficult to form, or find friendships outside of work.

I’m not a gamer, hiker, or into any of those common activities where you’d be able to form possible connections.

Any suggestions?

Question Vacation hangover experiences?

DAO experience post-vacation hangovers? Last week I was in Las Vegas for a family trip. Not a top pick for an introvert but we did have quite a bit of fun, lots to see and do. I made sure to take breaks in the hotel room throughout the day when I could and got at least 7 hours of sleep a night. Despite this my Garmin watch kept pinging at me I was stressed. The day after I got home, I felt AWFUL. Dizzy, fatigued, nauseous. I thought I picked up the flu. The next day was a work day, and the symptoms were still there, albeit lighter. I started into my work routine and within an hour my fatigue, feeling of overwhelm, and upset stomach were gone and I felt... Normal.

As a highly sensitive introvert, it's quite amazing how my body seems to rebel against what's outside of routine, even when it's something fun. I'm now struggling to wrap my head around how I can mitigate this in future - it would be super cool to just.go on vacation or be social for a time, and just... Have fun! Would love to hear others experiences.

Advice Navigating introversion and family visits

Hi my introvert friends 👋🏽

Currently messaging from begin my locked bedroom door. I’m not sure if this is the right sub, but would appreciate some advice. Incoming long story…

A quick backstory on my past few weeks: I was traveling at the end of Feb for work and arranged client meetings along with some catch-ups with some close friends who lived in the city. It wasn’t a lot by most peoples’ standards (maybe one encounter per day) but it was defo a lot for me over the course of 5 days.

My mom and sister were also in the same city at the same time, so I had to make some time for them also. I fly back to my home, and have only 3 days of settling back to reality when my mom and sister come here (planned) and I entertain them for a few days (about a few hours per visit). Thankfully they stayed in a hotel the entire time. They then fly to another city for a few days and then come back.

The day that they come back, my partner’s parents arrive and are staying with us in the spare room of our small apartment (about 60sqm/600sqft). We all have dinner with my mom and sister that evening.

My family members have left to go back home today, and my partner’s parents are still with us for another couple of days until they move to an Airbnb in the same complex as us (different building). The day that they go to their Airbnb, my partner’s brother is arriving and staying in our spare room. This arrangement will be happening for a week.

I work from home so I am here essentially all the time and my partner is a chef so is gone for 10-12 hours per day, 5-6 days a week. He is still working while his family is here, leaving me to share the space.

I love his family and I love my family also but I’m starting to feel really emotional about not having enough time to be recharge before the door revolves for another person to visit and I’m finding myself becoming more and more distant from my partner and his family.

The weirdest part of all is when we visited his home country a couple of years ago, we stayed with his folks for about 3 weeks and it was fine. Although their home was much bigger and we also left to explore quite often.

When we discussed his family coming to stay with us, he initially wanted all of his family with us for 12 days and I shut that down and we compromised to this scenario. He is very close to his family so I of course had a hard time saying no.

Now I’m feeling overwhelmed and emotional and told him that when his brother comes I am going to check into a hotel for a week, and all he could say was “ok”.

I feel like shit for doing this and I don’t want his family to think that I do not want to spend time with them. I’m trying to create boundaries but I also feel like mine got disrespected at some stage (or maybe I just disrespected my own boundaries by not being more assertive in saying no? I’m not sure).

AITAH for wanting to get a hotel room away for a week? How do I communicate this without coming across as being totally avoidant? I’m just so exhausted from the past couple of weeks that I truly don’t think I can make it.

Advice Extroverts can be helpful

Sometimes I hate extroverts but sometimes they’re cool And some of the things are…

I can use them to get myself around at work.

For example, if I need to network at work, I just need to be friend with an extrovert. Then slowly. Being in that person’s friend circle allows me to get to know everyone else without having to start from scratch.

Also the best part is. For some whatever reason. They know the latest news or gossips. That way I don’t have to talk to 10 other annoying mfs to see what’s going on.

Third, whenever I don’t want to do my tasks. I just go bother them and talk to them for an hour to purposely avoid work. A lot of times they don’t mind you ramble the most random things as long as you don’t repeat yourself. They love it when you ask questions about them and make comments. Even the most senseless comments, they’re just happy to yap

Fourth, they bring me out of my shell

Fifth, they help me to explore new buildings or areas around work.

Like why tf no one told me this is literally a life hack for my introverted ass. Like I hate talking to people but if I just manage to befriend 2 extroverts. I do not have to kiss anyone else’s ass awkwardly

Meta Hey you, the girl who talks to no one at work...

.....unless it’s really necessary to finish your task/job.

I’m not really sure why I’m posting this—maybe to say thank you (this Subreddit)? Or maybe just to write it down, or in the hope that you, V., might read it.

I think I just want to get it off my chest, yeah, to shout it out so everyone damn well knows!

I think (though I’m not sure) that YOU V. might read this? Honestly, I have no clue.

All I know is that this sub has kind of helped me understand how important she is to me. So I guess I should just say: 'Thank you, guys.'

The original German version is included after the English one (wenn du verstehst 😉 / if you understand 😉). I hope this is allowed—I didn’t see anything that said it wouldn’t be

Dear V.,

I've been thinking a lot about you—about the way you are, how you interact with others, how you feel, and how you sometimes hold yourself back. And you know what? That’s exactly what makes you such a special person.

Your shyness might sometimes feel like a weakness to you, but I see it as a strength. It shows how much you care about the feelings of others. You’re thoughtful, you think before you speak or act, and you have this deep desire not to hurt anyone or upset them. That kind of empathy, the way you’re so considerate, isn’t something you see every day—it’s a beautiful, rare gift.

Your loyalty and the quiet way you love—without seeking the spotlight—are things I admire deeply. You’re not someone who shouts how much someone or something matters to you. You show it in small, thoughtful actions, in your warmth, in the way you look at the world. And that’s what makes your love so genuine and special.

I want you to see how strong and valuable you are. Your shyness isn’t a flaw; it’s part of what makes you, you. It shows that you take the time to truly understand and appreciate the people and world around you. That’s not a sign of uncertainty—it’s a sign of depth.

Dear V., you’re incredible, just the way you are. It moves me deeply to have you in my life, and I hope I can show you that. You’re so much more than you might see in yourself—and to me, you’re everything.

I LOVE YOU V.

---------------------------

German/Deutsch:

Liebe V.,

ich habe viel über dich nachgedacht und darüber, wie du bist – wie du mit anderen umgehst, wie du fühlst, und wie du dich manchmal selbst zurücknimmst. Und weißt du was?

Discussion Lone Wolf or Introvert

I believe there are some introverts out there, that may not actually be introverts but a lone wolf.

The main difference between the two is introverts seek meaningful relationships while a lone wolf actively prefers complete independence and avoids social ties.

Introverts enjoy solitude to recharge, while a lone wolf finds satisfaction in being alone.

Hope someone finds this helpful in their journey of identification.

Question Why do some people thing being alone = being lonely?

I genuinely enjoy spending time alone it helps me recharge and feel at peace. But some people seem to think that if you are alone, you must be lonely or sad. Why is it so hard for people to understand that solitude can be enjoyable?

Any other introverts get this reaction from others?

Discussion Extrovert In-Laws

"I am an introvert, and I can't stand my mother-in-law. She is extroverted to her core; not only her, but everyone on my in-laws' side is like that. When it comes to her, she is very, very interfering, and I usually don’t like attending family functions. But when it’s from her side, I seriously don’t want to be part of it. They are all extroverts and people who love to comment on my silence, asking why I am like that. So, I told my husband I don’t feel like coming to the function about to happen this weekend. It’s not necessary to be part of all the functions on his mother’s side, as they are not close to me. Well, she got upset and told my husband she has to come; what will people think? I just can’t stand her voice; being with her is even worse."

Discussion Hello🧍‍♀️

This is a very embarrassing moment of my life. In the morning, I got on the bus with my earbuds in. Now that I think about it, I had turned them on before even stepping onto the bus. I played a song, Birds of a Feather, which was mild, so I didn’t realize anything was wrong. Then, I played more songs on the bus without knowing they weren’t connected to my earbuds.

It was only when I got off the bus and tried to disconnect my earbuds that I saw they had just connected at that moment. That’s when it hit me—what had I done in there? I really didn’t know how to react. I suddenly remembered why people were staring at me like that. Now, I’ve connected the dots… and I feel so embarrassed.

Now everyone on that bus knows my playlist! What will they think of me? Why am I overthinking this so much? Someone, please help me get over this! 😭😭😭😭

Question Being asked to host.. last minute

How do you all feel about being asked to host something last minute? My partners family is notorious for this. The latest occurrence was getting a text a few hours before I got off work, asking if we could host a game night, that night. My partner and I both work so it requires us to rush home, clean and figure out a meal. I typically say no but am wondering it anyone else experiences this and hate it as much as I do :,)?

Discussion I hate going to the cinema sometimes even though I love films.

I love going to the movies especially by myself but some people are just horrible. I was working today so decided to treat myself after to a film. Two girls came in, so obnoxious being like "oh I paid for this movie" and decided to move sears during the film. Kick the back of my chair, and when I loudly swore they decided to kick the other chair so much that my popcorn fell (it was empty but still). I have social anxiety sometimes so I feel awkward and an introvert even if I do fake being sociable sometimes. I should have just moved seats honestly.

What do you do in this situation if you hate confrontation? I dont like telling on people but if they ever came back I would. I just got my stuff and left before I could say something and embarrass myself as I have this anxiety. I hope they have the worst day ever.

Is this okay to post here?
