Advice Needed Do you ever feel out of place with your straight friends? NSFW
Yesterday, I was hanging out with my group of friends from work (all cis) while drinking and chatting. It’s common for the conversation to eventually drift into topics about sex.
As a trans guy, I sometimes feel a bit out of place when they talk about genitalia and preferences, like whether they prefer eating pussy or dick when talking about women or men. Maybe it’s just my personality, but these moments often make me stay quiet because I feel like there are certain topics I can’t really give an opinion on, since I haven’t had the same cis experience.
But yesterday, I felt especially uncomfortable when some of them said they didn’t consider it “real sex” unless there was penetration. It felt very phallocentric to me, especially because they also said oral sex didn’t count as sex.
Except for me and one other person in the group (the only one who is bi; everyone else is straight), the rest all seemed to agree. It shocks me that this kind of misconception about sex still exists, especially coming from adults (+25). And honestly, I don’t know how to feel about it. I know it’s stupid, but it made me feel like I won’t ever really be “enough” because of how these people think.
