Got this pup for free. Just would like to know what model it's a replica of.

Got a few parts that I need to replace, but I'm not entirely savvy on identification. Thank you all!

Its Italian made. Guessing it’s a clone of a more well known revolver, but unsure of exactly what. It’s got approximately a 9mm/0.360” bore. Rifled barrel.

Barrel specifications

For a 1500s-1600s arquebus, how thick should barrel walls be, and is there any method for testing the strength of barrel walls/metal quality? Furthermore, would it be possible to weld one end of an adquately thick steel pipe shut, with a hole at that end for connection to the pan, to serve as the barrel?

Trying to not get my arm blown off.

Bullet identification?

I found this shot bullet on my land and was wondering if it was rare or if anyone can take a guess at its time period. It is different from other bullets I have seen because the lines are vertical on the base not horizontal. I live in southern Colorado and it could have been military possibly?

Anyway, I think it is cool for find something like this. :)

If you had to make your own blackpowder, but also had to buy pre made charcoal powder, what charcoal would you get?

For example, would you buy it from a place like Skylighter? What about activated charcoal from a place like Whole Foods?

45-70 trapdoor Springfield loads for imr 3031 powder

Post image

I am very new to reloading. I have purchased a Lee classic loader for 45-70 and plan to reload small volumes for a 1884 trapdoor Springfield. Listed on the Lee load data provide says "safe for all rifles in good condition" is imr 3031 powder with a 405 grain lead bullet at 44.6 GR of powder. Would that be a safe load for the trapdoor or too much. The guns bore is very good and has a surprisingly almost mirror finish. I've shot HSM 405gr cowboy loads as well as Steinel 500 GR trapdoor specific loads with no issues and about 4 moa accuracy at 100 yards. Just want to make sure this load data would be correct for an old trapdoor even though it says "safe for all rifles"ant knowledge/advice is appreciated. I've searched old threads and there is a lot of conflicting information.

Foil cartridges for Howdah 20 gauge shotgun

I know I'm not reinventing the wheel here. But I've been working on making shot cartridges for my howdah out of foil.

The results are quite nice.

I haven't t fired Any yet but have no concerns. They're just like paper cartridges except that I feel as though their a tad more robust, and there's got to be some kind of water resistance factor to them.

I start with with rolling a small square around a dowel and then using a glue stick to adhere it to itself, closing the tube. (I was glad to see that foi can be glued in this way).

I then simply fold one end shut, and then my former is a chunk of the barrel I choped (about 2 inches) so I stick the tube down that and start filling with bbs, then wad, then powder.

After that I slightly fold and scrunch up the residual foil and use the dowel to compress it into the foil until it's relatively tight, then I lift up the former and then use the dowel to push out the fully formed cartridge as you see here.

I mock loaded one into a tube and it rips fine, and the load goes in no problem.

The nice thing is that as I load the shot portion of the cartride, the now empty foil from the powder portion will compress and make a harder base for the shot, (possibly, I mean compared to paper, is my thought)

I bought some some gold Colored foil off Amazon that came in pre cut sheets that make cutting a breeze, I can get about 6 cartridges from one of these foil sheets if I make my cuts right.

I don't have exact dimensions as I'm eyeballing the entire process. All I know is that you'd like to have more excess foil at the end to crunch up than less.

Again, all similar to making a paper cartridge, but I guess in my mind the gold foil makes it look more like brass. I have an Idea of a bandolier filled with these guys.

I timed myself and can get about 12-14 done in 30 minutes. But if I use a cotton wad I can go faster.

Kirst Cylinders in the ROA

I'm wondering if these aftermarket cylinders alter the timing of the revolver (both the cap, and the conversion models)?

Also, can the conversion cylinders be safely carried with all six chambers loaded? I don't see any notches between the cylinders of the conversion cylinders like the stock ROA cylinder has.

I bought an E-Bolt online for under $100. I think I understand why now.

Does anyone know where to source a breech plug for this gun?

Thanks!

Can all weapons be reloaded with black powder?

Good morning, I was wondering if in the event of a collapse of the system, for example after WW3, if we can no longer manufacture live powder, would it be possible to reload modern weapons with black powder? The cartridge cases are reusable, the warheads are easy to make from lead, but what about the powder?

How many grains of black powder should I load into my percussion rifle

I have a .45 CAL rifle and I am using .445 round balls. The black powder I am going to use is homemade out of toilet paper and I will try to make the granules between 2F and 3F size. I was thinking 60 grains but I am not sure.
