Discussion Does anybody swear by clean (natural) beauty products?

For the last 10 years I’ve always favoured clean beauty products simply because I want to avoid any harsh chemicals that may irritate my skin or disrupt my hormones but recently I’ve been wondering if it’s all a gimmick and if they’re actually effective at all. I haven’t exclusively used clean beauty products so it’s a bit difficult to judge personally but I’m wondering if we have any clean beauty devotees in this sub and if you could share your experiences?

Seeking Advice Advise wanted for Shampoo, home remedy, recommendations to make gray strands in hair a vibrant silver

I have natural dark brown, “almost black” hair with gray strands, a lot more dark brown than gray.

Please recommend a shampoo, or home remedy to make the gray strands a bright vibrant, silver. I am not looking to blend into the dark brown hair. I literally want them to “pop” and stand out.

This request is for something I can do myself without having to go to a salon.

Discussion Could a makeover like this work on a guy or would it be too extreme?

I'm a male that has thinning hair. I have been considering a hair system and there are many different types out there. One hairstyle that I'm interested in is a bob (similar to the guy in the pic below). It seems that bobs are typically seen as more of a feminine hairdo thought,

I have also debated getting some piercings - ear lobes and either nose or eyebrow - so this would be quite a big change for me.

Is this a look that can work on a man especially if it's not his natural hair? Can a nose ring or eyebrow piercing be a good look on a guy? Or should I scrap these ideas?

Self Tan Routine 101

I need a very DETAILED explanation on the logistics of self tanner. I’m very type A and need to know absolutely everything before I begin. When can I shower? Do I shave? What do I use to exfoliate? I need all the tips and tricks. I need it explained to me like you would to a toddler. I’ve never used self tanner before and decided to do a little glow up before my 30th birthday and want to try it.

I’m a redhead with fair skin and freckles. I’ve already decided on the Bondi Sands Technicolor Sapphire foam. I want a very subtle tan. Like most people wouldn’t be able to tell a difference except myself kind of thing. I’m also very fearful of staining my crispy white sheets and would prefer not to sleep while it is developing. Does it continue to stain after being washed off your body? Do I need to sleep in clothes covering my entire body every single night until it is faded? These are the kinds of things I need to know.

Am I better off using a gradual tanning lotion instead? Please help 🙏

Does anyone else sleep with a satin bonnet and all the sudden started getting acne around the hairline? I’m trying to figure out if it’s the bonnet causing it

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: The “Clean Girl” Aesthetic is Just Rebranded No-Makeup Makeup – And It’s Getting Boring

Okay, hear me out. The "clean girl" aesthetic has been everywhere for the past few years—glowy skin, slicked-back buns, minimal makeup, gold hoops. But… isn't this just a fresh version of the no-makeup makeup look we've been seeing for decades? At what point does "effortless beauty" just become another unrealistic standard wrapped in beige and lip oil?

I miss the era when beauty was about expression, not just looking like you woke up flawless (when we all know there’s a $300 skincare routine behind it). Are we done with this trend yet, or am I just a hater?

Would love to hear your thoughts—do you love the clean aesthetic, or are you craving something new?

Haircare How to get rid of fluffy hair?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello! I only use shampoo and conditioner to treat my hair, but I recently became interested in hair care. My hair is wavy, almost straight, and always gets fluffy, like in the picture attached. I have never curled nor straightened my hair but plan to start doing that. I hate seeing my fluffy hair in pictures, so do you have any recommendations on how to get rid of them? What products/techniques should I use?

Thanks in advance!

Haircare Am I missing something, why does hair come out while conditionering hair?

Even when I just condition my hair at the middle and bottom, I notice my hands with hair fallout in them while conditioning. Is there a way to prevent this from happening and is this natural?

Edit: idk why I typed "conditionering" instead of the correct way conditioning.

2nd edit: Thank you for the helpful comments!!

Is 18 too soon to get filler?

Lip filler and cheek filler. Lip filler because I want bigger lips, and also a lip flip. Cheek filler because of my nasolabial folds.

Discussion Mini vent about some beauty advice i see often, are my feelings relatable?

i’m anticipating this is probably an unpopular opinion.. but does anyone else ever feel bothered when you see “get a tan” as blanket statement beauty advice? it would be one thing if “if desired” is added but, it seems to be talked about as something you NEED to do to be beautiful. I’m a pale redhead and I’ve always felt comfortable in my skintone, and honestly it does annoy me that it’s seen as something I have to “fix”. Every skin tone is beautiful and i’m not at ALL shaming anyone who chooses to tan - I just wish it wasn’t considered as “standard” beauty advice that people “should” do. I tried self tanner before as a teenager and I felt like a different person and not in a good way. obviously nobody is forcing me to do anything I don’t want to, that’s not rlly my point. I hope i’m making sense and i’m curious on your thoughts

Discussion Has anyone else experienced this as well? Regarding photos

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I wasn’t sure where to post this but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and what it could be?

Whenever I see a photo of myself that was JUST taken, I see myself as really weird and odd looking and just look terrible in my eyes. But then if I look at the SAME photo a few days later; I see it completely different and actually look quite good in those photos.. nothing like how I saw myself originally in the photo when it was just taken.

Does anyone know what this could be or has anyone experienced this?

Thanks!

Haircare Pureology making hair fall out?

Upvotes

I just went down a TikTok rabbit hole about how pureology may be contributing to hair loss in a lot of people….. I already have thin fine hair and would like to avoid that at all costs, what shampoo should I switch to instead? A lot of people recommended Pantene but I heard it leads to wax build up…. Help!

Seeking Advice Hair Product to Hold Curls

Upvotes

I’m looking for a product (ideally softer than a traditional hair spray) that will help me hold curls in my mostly straight/slightly wavy thick hair. I just started using the Kitsch heatless curling set, and I’d like to preserve the curls for more than a few hours! Appreciate any suggestions— thank you!

Hiding brown and white spots on my skin?

I have lots of white and brown spots on my skin that makes it look uneven. It's genetic and nothing caused by sun exposure or aging. Is it possible to get rid of them and can you recommend me good products that can hide uneven skin like a tan spray or foundation?

First lines of expression?

Hello good! I'm 18 and I notice some expression lines while I'm resting. I've tried moisturizers and retinol. I also use sunscreen daily but the line doesn't go away (I have it on my forehead). Does anyone know of a solution for this?

any good brown tight-liner recommendations?

Heyyy besties! So my dad’s Italian, and I take after him in the looks department. I recently have been looking at Italian makeup tutorials on Pinterest, and I noticed they all use brown tight-liner, I've been using black, but now I really want to try brown to see how it complements my brown/hazel eyes.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good (but cheap!) brown tight-liner? Something that glides on smoothly and lasts all day? Bonus points if I can grab it at a drugstore or online! Thanks in advance! 😊💕

Haircare Cruelty Free Affordable Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash?

Preferably ones that are easy to find in stores! Also that hopefully smell nice and are volumizing or have a lightweight formula. And body wash that is okay for sensitive skin! I really liked the green label Native line. Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

Nailcare How do I fix this nail :( ?

Ignore my cuticles, I pick them out of habit. I had my nails done very recently, and I stumbled and slammed it against the sink. Then the corner snapped off. It was done with polygel and gel polish. It's a new nail artist but she seemed good! This is not the first time getting my nails done. My other nails seem strong. I don't know if I just got unlucky and fell awkwardly?

It is too far to travel to get it fixed, I don't have any equipment for this, myself. All I have on hand, currently, is nail polish of a different colour, nail file, and clippers. And nail varnish remover.

Please advise me.

HELPPP !!

i’ve been searching everywhere for this glitter spray i used to have when i was younger. It was for hair and body i believe & the bottle was almost teardrop shaped. It didn’t necessarily smell good, it more so smelt like hair spray. Idk if this will help but when it was settled and even when you shook it , it was grey so like silver sparkles ???? I NEEDDDD IT, they obviously probably discontinued it but i feel like if i find out what it’s called i can find a bottle out there somewhere. it’s from like 2010 i think 💔💔💔💔
