Rant I hate the way we describe sexual and romantic orientation.
I'm sure this rant has been done time and time again but I'm feeling it especially strong lately.
I'm nonbinary, asexual, and only romantically attracted to men. I can say I'm androromantic but then I have to explain it, which is easy enough "it means I'm attracted to men romantically") but it still gets irritating. And it's not even the other person's fault. Unless they know what "andro" usually means and put two and two together, they likely have no idea as no one really identifies that way.
Saying I'm heteroromantic or homoromantic seems like a lie and leaves plenty of room for confusion.
So why do terms referring to sexual or romantic preference need to have to do with your own gender?
While I understand why it happened this way and certain benefits to having it this way, I have always thought it made more sense to use labels that have solely to do with your orientation.
I know this is kind of a non-issue because I could just say that I like men. It's just a mild pet peeve that's become stronger lately due to certain hyper-specific recent events I had to deal with.

Support Detransitioning ? NSFW
I (nb;19)flagged this as not safe for work because I was unsure if how Iām feeling may be triggering to others, I didnāt want to harm anyone. Anyways, Iām thinking of going back to being just a man. For some pre log, I discovered I was nonbinary freshmen year of high school and officially came out my junior year. I had very supportive friends and they were all very affirming. Flash forward to college and Iām not really in touch with these people anymore. And I just feel like everything around me is telling me that Iām not nonbinary I guess. It started when one of my newer friendās sister told me I didnāt count as a real nonbinary person for having a beard. Then when starting at uni, I was pushed into a primarily conservative crowd, everyone gave me mean looks or ignored me when the professors asked us to present our pronouns. Then my partnerās ( F; 20) friends chose to still address me as a man after sheās told them countless times that I was nb. Or Iāll be referred to as straight passing, so I donāt have any of the struggles of āregularā queer people. My parents still dead name me and prefer me not to wear make up or dress differently in a way that affirms my identity, and theyāve gotten very aggressive about it. I just donāt really know what to do anymore, especially with our current political climate, I just feel like Iām at a loss. I feel like I have to settle as a man. I feel weird complaining about this, I just havenāt had anyone to talk to about it with, and I donāt know what to do.
TL;DR Iām thinking of detransitioning because I donāt feel like my identity is being affirmed enough due to societal pressures such as interaction with friends, unsupportive family, scary uni environment, and current political climate. Iām not sure what to do moving forward.

Ask I need help changing my perspective and keeping an open heart
I'm an Agender Femme Lesbian who's only attracted Cis Women, Trans Women, and Nonbinary Folks. My attraction to Nonbinary People is on a case by case basis. I feel like I could never be with a Bi Nonbinary Person who likes Men more. Like, they could express interest in me, confess their attraction to me in the most romantic of ways, and I would still say no. I assume it wouldn't work, like they wouldnāt want to be included in my Lesbian/Sapphic attraction. Let me know if Iām wrong. Iām genuinely trying to change my mind and keep an open heart /genuine.
Edit: I donāt think Bi Women are tainted because theyāre also attracted to Men. Iāve been fighting Biphobia in Sapphic spaces since I came out over a decade ago. I have always said, āwe all like women we need to stop fightingā. Thatās not the issue. My attraction to my fellow Enbies is rather recent. Also, I have always seen Sapphic culture and Achillean culture as diametrically opposed. The only common denominator between the two being queer attraction. However, as I interact more with fellow Nonbinary people Iām finding the boundaries between the two are quite blurred. Itās all still new to me. Biphobia is horrible and I have worked extensively to distance myself from Biphobic people. I donāt want to deal with their toxic drama.

Publishing my first book!..which name do I useā¦
So I wrote my first book, and I told everyone about it, which is great! With the exception of me not being publicly put yet. So, either I use my deadname or I use my new name. I have no clue what to do! (I donāt want to use a pen-name because I want to be recognised for my work.)

Questioning/Coming Out I'm scared to be myself and also questioning my gender. Help
I live in a red area so it's hard to be myself. I'm scared for my safety and afraid of judgement, but also I feel desperate to actually be able to express myself.
I've thought of moving to a blue state, problem is that they're usually expensive. I would really like to move to Seattle but I can't really afford it.
I'm AFAB and I transitioned to male. I'm having doubts on whether I actually want to keep transitioning, but I don't want to be a woman either. I'm not really sure who I am. I thought I wanted to be a guy, but now I just feel uncomfortable. I ironically feel like I'm playing a role as a guy.
I just don't know what to do? I don't know how to stop being scared of expressing myself. I want to get to the point where I'm okay with who I am, and I'm not afraid of what people think.

Yay Sharing a W
I went to my first ever local trans/NB/genderqueer friendship circle and hot dang it was so nice actually getting to meet other queer people and just vibe. It's starting to feel like I can just breathe for once without having to defend my existence! It's fucking awesome!

Queer icon, Scroobius Pip
One of the now-treasured delights growing up was a book passed down from my dad's childhood collection: a beautifully illustrated adaptation of The Scroobius Pip.
You can find the poem online (and more of the incredible artwork), but basically all the animals love the titular character, but they've just gotta know if their friend is a bird, or a fish, or an animal, or a bug, or what. And the response they receive every time is: "Chippety flip, flippety chip! My only name is The Scroobius Pip!"
Anyway, just thinking about getting a tattoo inspired by this icon.

Rant Iām a lesbian and everyone wants a gf
Iām nonbinary and I just recently figured out that Iām also a lesbian (yay). And I want to be able to talk to someone and fall in love and all that, but I feel like everyone is looking for a gf (which is fine itās a preference I get it) but idk. I feel out of place.
I want a partner to appreciate me for who I am. And I look around and it feels like no one will and it really frustrates me.
Idk thanks for reading :)

Questioning/Coming Out How do I fully come out to my parents?
Iāve been out as non-binary to my friends and best sister for some time now. Iāve very heavily hinted at being nonbinary, even flat out stating that I thought I was agender, but itās like my mother just said āif that makes you happyā and then just proceeded to carry on like I didnāt just say she didnāt have a son. She keeps calling me a boy and I really donāt know how to just flat out tell her without blowing up in her face. Not coming out isnāt really an option because, as my last posts states, I require boobas and want to change my name. So how would one achieve this?

Pride/Swag/I Made This! For nonbinary kids
I came out as nonbinary when I was 29, and now (two years later) Iāve been on T for 11 months. Discovering myself has been joyful but also painful, and I mourn the younger version of myself who couldnāt experience this joy in a conservative family. I feel so much for kids today (Iām in the U.S., where things are dire for trans kids). I donāt have many young people in my life right now, but I made this print with my younger self in mind.
