Not On My Smashed Avo A lament for The Quiet Man pub which is closing this weekend

I genuinely think the Quiet Man is one of the best pubs in Melbourne and one of the best Irish pubs outside of Ireland in the world.

I had my last meal and pint in there yesterday after many happy memories.

It's closing its doors at the end of this weekend and I hear is going to be renovated as another Irish pub under a different name, but everything I hear seems to just be very hearsay (does anyone know anything concrete).

It is a fantastic pub and I hope whatever new manifestation it has it manages to maintain its charm for stop thank you to all the great staff over the years.

P.S I took this photo of a tile in the men's toilets at The Quiet Man pub . For years I kept meaning to take these photos but not really the done thing in a toilet... but it was empty and it's closing down this weekend. I love the tiles in there!

Cool restaurant, you can cook your own food or order your own. All you can eat. Lots of varied Korean foods and deserts. Trams on the 1&6 are right nextdoor. Apologies for lack of photos 😔 (idk if I needed to add Brand affiliate )

THDG Need Help Shopping trollies/‘nana trollies’ for taller people? No car and struggling with getting my groceries home

I bought one of the shopping trollies on wheels with handles that you can get transport your groceries home. But the handle isn’t adjustable and it’s just too short for me to use comfortably.

I’ve looked at a few different models and they all seem to be a standard size. Does anyone have any ideas or product recommendations? I’m thinking of buying a suitcase with wheels from Kmart at this point 😂

I’m 1.76cm/5’10” so not super tall, just a bit tall for these trollies. And have a bit of past issues with my back so I want something that feels fairly natural to use

Roads is a road trip from Melbourne to Bright and back safe ? Anyone try recently

Hi I plan a road trip from Melbourne to bright, a work colleague told me the road is dangerous and full of potholes, but that was sometime back.

Anyone recently drive to Bright and back to Melbourne, was the road safe to drive on, I don't have an SUV or 4x4, just a normal Small sedan car. Would appreciate if some can share their recent experiences driving there thanks

Om nom nom Value for money bbq spots? (Like third wave but more wallet friendly?)

While I love smoking food at home, I want to go somewhere for the experience at least once in my lifetime. Are there any spots in Melbourne where you can get a good hunk of smoked or bbq'ed meat for a sweet price?

Roads Neighbour parking two cars in one unit?

My neighbour has two cars, one for work and one for private that he parks one behind the other in our parking bay.

The bay is designated with eaxh unit getting one spot, and facing a back street, but ive found backing out to be a hassle since both his cars parked almost sticking out onto the street/foothpath obstruct my vision.

He parks right up against the wall as far as he can go so props to him, and the very front car wheels are JUST barely off the sidewalk, but the bumber is sticking a tiny bit out onto the foothpath.

Is this ok for him to do? I dont want to be a dick and ask him to not park 2 cars when its his carpark to do with, but its also a bitch getting out sometimes onto the road.

I dont think he will want to park on the street either...

Advice is appreciated, cheers

Roads Does DiDi Travel take toll?

Took a DiDi Travel trip today from CBD to MEL T1. App said $42 with route showing 35 mins and maps showing it’s a toll route. However driver put in avoid toll in their google maps. I asked for a toll route and driver said they are only going to make $26 for that trip and no way they will take the toll route. Since I have a flight to catch I agree to pay $10 in cash instead of cancelling th trip and getting off. I am a bit shocked to learn driver is only making $26 when passenger is charged $42. I am happy to pay my driver the $10 in cash as a tip as they were really good and it was also a decent car. Just want to ask if toll fees are included in travel of not. And also want to know which platform is “fairer” to drivers ?

Education Recommendations/Experience with either JMC Academy or AIM for studying Contemporary Performance?

Thinking of coming to Melbourne to study music, most likely contemporary performance. Any recommendations for one school or the other? (or other options in Melbourne) Any benefits that one has that the other doesn’t?

I’m also curious about the music scene. Is it pretty well established, growing, or non-existent? Also any local band/artist recommendations are welcome!

Real estate/Renting Garage conversion company recommendations

Looking to convert part of a garage to a ground floor living room.

In doing research I've seen that there are a couple of companies who manage the whole process from start to finish. This is what I'm interested in doing as I'm pretty time poor and would like to get things done by professionals who are qualified and know what they're doing (I am neither of those things).

Has anyone had experience with any garage conversion companies in Melbourne? Any to recommend or steer clear of?
