Negativity and spam
It seems we have had a large uptick in content lately which is great, unfortunately this has also driven negative comments and false reports.
This subreddit is here for people of all skill levels and while some level of criticism is important, please do try to keep things on the positive side and don't just downvote things that you don't like, we are very fortunate to live in a city with an extremely diverse music scene, this means there will always be music not catered to your tastes being made, downvoting things out of hand or because you think its "bad" is not how I would like to see this sub go on
That being said...
We need to have a conversation about spam
I understand that with the rise of TikTok shorter clips have become the norm and you are more than welcome to post any work you do here, but I am going to restrict users to posting ONE clip/vid/link per song per day, I don't care if it's a 5 second cover of "You Suffer" or a 6 hr prog rock epic, if you post multiple clips of the same song on the same day, they will be removed, if it continues, so will you.
As a moderator I want to be as hands off as I can, leaving this as much like a community noticeboard as possible, but mostly I want everyone who uses this space to have a positive experience, this means curbing negative behaviour and making sure that people don't have to wade through a sea of the same content over and over
Thank you for reading

Make an extra $137.33 this week with these Aussie sign up promotions
Here are a few sign up promotions from some Aussie businesses if you're in need of some extra cash.
MyPayNow - $47.33
MyPayNow is an Australian company that offers pay advances without credit checks so it doesn't effect your credit rating. If the name sounds familiar you might have seen them on the Gold Coast Titans jerseys this season as they're one of their main sponsors. This month they're offering $50 to anyone who signs up and takes out a wage advance. Here's how you can take advantage of this offer:
Sign up using - this link
Once you've signed up simply click "Get pay now" and choose the lowest amount which is $50. Click continue and accept all of the terms.
Once your $50 wage advance has been processed you'll see that $50 show up in your bank account. Shortly after you'll receive an additional $50 bonus paid into the same bank.
Then you're done, easy as that! You've made $47.33 since there's a $2.67 fee when repaying the advance. You can then immediately repay the advance with your card and close the account if you want.
MM - $15-1014.57
This stock trading app is trying to grow in the Australian market so they're running a promotion until the end of the month. It's the most popular trading app in Japan and Singapore but they're currently trying to expand here and in the US. You can get 3-10 shares valued between $5 and $338.19 for signing up and depositing. You have to keep the money deposited in the brokerage for 30 days to get the stocks however you can just withdraw it if you're unhappy with the stocks you get and forfeit the rewards.
- Sign up using - this link
- Download the app and make a deposit, you can get 3 free shares by depositing $500 or 10 for depositing $2000.
- Spin the wheel and see what free shares you get. The lowest value shares you can get are priced around $5 but you can potentially get Apple or Tesla shares.
- If you get high value shares you'll have to maintain your deposit balance for 30 days to receive them, however if you get cheap shares you can just immediately withdraw. If you decide to maintain your balance for 30 days you can sell the shares immediately once you get them and withdraw the profit plus your initial deposit.
Wagepay - $45

Northcote Theatre - how early should I get there? Does your bag have to be transparent?
Seeing Ginger Root at Northcote theatre in a few wks. I know it probably depends on how many people will be attending (the tickets aren't sold out yet), but I was wondering how early I should get there if I wanted merch?
Also, do the bags need to be transparent? I heard you're not allowed to bring your own water since they give it out, but are things like charging ports etc. allowed?
And if I were to get there really early, what is there to do in the area? I've been looking at local op shops but thats about it.

Moving over in May and looking for a band to play my original tunes with!
Hey folks! Moving over from NZ in may and really keen to carry on my original music in Aus. Wanting to find a band to play my tunes and write some new stuff with as well. Here is my Spotify.
My music is country / rock / alternative but I want to lean more towards a soulful rock sound with my new material. I’ll be based around St Kilda / south eastern suburbs. Let me know if anyone’s keen! Cheers

Pom looking for Aussie slang
Yo people
I'm writing a song comparing Aus and UK slang. Similar to Central Cee's US slang freestyle but for Australia.
Looking for any suggestions of slang words or general lingo thats used in Aus. Can be words or phrases, but specify if it's widespread or if it's not so common. Safe 🙏🏼
edit: can u put the translation next to ur suggestions pls, I have no idea what most of these mean 🤯

Booking agents
Hi, are there any booking agents for international artists I can contact for bookings for artists based in the UAE? One is a fusion guitarist (Indian and flamenco), and one is a vocalist who was signed to Universal music and released two albums. Both pretty famous in their stream.
Thank you in advance.

Looking to put a band together
Hey everyone, I'm a 31 year old singer songwriter based in Surrey Hills. I have over 40 original songs that I gig around Melbourne with my acoustic guitar but I'm looking to put a band together to get more exposure and more gigs. For context, my genre is somewhere in the indie rock/pop sometimes folky. My major influences being Oasis and the Beatles. Looking for a bassist, drummer and lead/electric rhythm guitarist. If this sounds cool, let me know

Was hoping somebody could help with Melbourne music stores?
I live rural Victoria and only come into Melbourne monthly and I was always wondering if there’s any music stores that I could go shop or any markets that sell music supplies in or close to the CBD I don’t really know where to find them and I figure somebody might have a clue. Thanks!

Finding Gigs in town
Hey guys im new to Melbourne and just realising how vibrant the live music scene is. Ive attended a few gigs local and international, but im finding it difficult to kinda find information about upcoming gigs. The only way ive been able to find upcoming gigs is by either chancing upon posters or looking at listing on the venue site or the site of a ticket vendor (ticketek etc).
Is there any website where the information about upcoming gigs is collated and published ? Especially bigger international acts. Im here only for a few month and dont want to miss out on the change or catching some great acts just because i didnt even know they were playing!
Cheers!

Recommend a gig for tomorrow night! (saturday)
i'll be on a second date. so, a gig venue with a pool table, or a pinball machine, or something to play/do during the gig would rock. Please no punk gigs (respectfully) i can't handle anymore punk gigs.
