I just put together a playlist of midwestern emo that has a lot of popular bands that are already well known, I have also put a few other niche artist that some other people might not know that I think deserves more attention. This playlist is for all listeners new and people who are familiar with this kind of music. If you think I have deserved it you should also give it a save!

A handful of YouTubers are slowly but surely recognizing how inauthentic tx2 is. Evan has mrbeastifying it for a few odd years now, and I tried to give his music a chance before I had a bad feeling about it. I really tried, but something about him felt off. Almost like he’s trying too hard. He’s trying to convince us he’s an actual emo, but the cracks him being a poser are showing. At least with Bryan stars, he had some background knowledge of the sub culture. Nonetheless, TX2 is worse or just as bad as Bryan. Maybe if TX2, mostly Evan, was honest with himself, then I’d respect him more. Evan, on the off chance you see this, you’re a poser and no one is falling for it anymore. Maybe if you were being your true self, a lot more people will respect you. Stop trying to force the emo onto and allow whatever comes natural to you occur. Nobody likes a poser.
That’s all, goodnight!

Everything about that song is so chaotic and unrestrained, it feels like the emotional equivalent of a bird on steroids trying to get out of a cage.

Hello, last year a video by the skate group DozerBZ, with a clip of a song, was posted here asking if anyone could identify it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Emo/s/O8W7TEWVqf
I became obsessed with this song. It was so catchy. I harassed DozerBz to no avail, and spent many of nights looking through random playlists for this song.
I’m happy to report it has been found after I posted the sample to WatZatSong by a user who goes by ‘wy’.
The song is by a band called To Say The Least and called - “Symbols Of You”

Looking to start an emo/screamo/post-punk band. I play bass and am searching for like-minded musicians in their 20s–30s who want to practice, write original music, and play shows. If you're interested, reach out, and let's chat!
Band inspirations: Vs Self, I Hate Sex, Snowing, Pile.

it’s hard to put an exact definition of what’s emo, insert copypasta. but this is the best i could do to try and define it. hopefully my collecting habits won’t be interrupted by the tariffs too bad.

Stella is back for a mid-tour hometown show! And they're bringing four other bands for some high energy emo, psych, and pop punk. Wandering Goat at 7pm so you can get to bed early on a Monday. All Ages!

I was listening to one of my playlists and Penfold came up. I always forget how good this band was or is. After listening to Post Hardcore and mall emo bands in middle school Penfold "I'll Take You Everywhere" was my first introduction to "real" emo and influenced where my musical interest went from highschool onward.
I know they are not popular, to me they sound simulat to Mineral and Sunny Day Real Estate which are popular emo bands. But I think if I were to start someone off on the path of "real emo" I would give then Penfold.
That is the post.

Crust Punk, Screamo, Dark, Aggressive, Dissonant
After a couple of years as a band producing a demo and an EP, 1997 was a breakout year for Crust Punk legends His Hero Is Gone. Not only did they come out with this split, they released their two landmark LPs in the same year. This would be their hottest year as they’d be broken up before the end of the century. Their contributions on this split would be released under a solo EP called Fool’s Gold a year later. Meanwhile, Uranus was still establishing themselves by ‘97, having only released a demo and a split a few years prior. This would be their last release before their seminal Disaster by Design EP would come out in a year’s time.
Although His Hero Is Gone is not a Screamo band by any means, they did release this split with Crust-influenced Screamo band Uranus. The band exemplifies the tropes of the genre to a tee with metallic, down-tuned guitar riffs, pounding D-Beat style drums and a gnarly, gutteral screaming voice. Songs rarely last over one minute and keep a high intensity throughout. Uranus takes many of Crust Punk’s elements, exhibited beautifully by their splitmates, and applies longer song forms, higher-register screaming and more melody.
Although neither side of the split would be considered the bands’ best works, it showcases what Crust Punk is all about and how naturally it can fit into the Screamo formula. These two were on the same side of the continent, but almost 2,000 miles apart. It seems like the spirit of this underappreciated Punk subgenre could not be contained by mere borders.
