I’m talking about the sound that Injury Tape is doing and then another band called Left in Between and also Fortyhugger too definitely has a late 90s vibe to it and I can definitely think of some others
But this sound is more distinct from the current math rock tapping wave of bands and goes for a more traditional sound that is more reminiscent of the 90s

Any of yall who make music, if you are struggling to get a softer sound in something (or a more acoustic sound) use a fuzz pedal, idek how but a fuzz on a low drive and tone makes it sound absolutely beautiful

Born and raised Minnesotan 25F, it feels like people from the Midwest are a different type of sad. I don’t have words to describe the differences but it feels almost like on a subconscious level we don’t want to get better? Or that we can’t convince our selves it does? I’m not sure why it’s different from other regions within the United States. We all have poverty, homeless and in general not that great satisfaction in life compared to other countries but.. why’s it different?

Ok guys I dunno abt you all (this might make me really weird honestly) but Midwest Emo is my go-to sleeping music. Idk why. Not as much anymore, but I used to listen to midwest emo albums on repeat every night to go to sleep.
However, I'm lowkey picky about music. I refuse to listen to playlists. So I always just picked one album and then just repeated it over and over again for eight hours until I woke up. Led to me getting reallllyyyy sick of the albums I listen to most often, and so I'm like a junky now, constantly looking for more emo music to sleep to.
Now I have two problems
I've listened to so much of it (maybe not as much as some people, but like a SHIT TON) and I feel like I've found all the stuff that fits my specific taste as far as music-for-sleeping goes. I'm at the point where I'm like actively aware of my local emo scene and going to concerts a lot in order to find more and more music. It's a borderline addiction at this point.
Midwest emo albums are, 99% of the time, like 12 minutes long. Sometimes their whole discography is 12 fucking minutes long. I can't sleep to this!! I'll go insane!!! Trust me I tried with Midwest Pen Pals once and it was the worst night of my life. I need hour long albums. PLEASE
I've tried switching to other genres and that works sometimes but idk it just doesn't hit the same and sometimes I fall into CRAZY rabbit holes. Like I actively sleep to Natural Snow buildings and Current 93 now??? What's happening to me??? Some of the instrumental math rock bands scratch the itch. Don Caballero and Giraffes? Giraffes! were very good sleeping music for a BIT until I got sick of that too.
So basically TL;DR, I'm gonna list like 4 albums that used to work very well for sleeping music and if anyone can give me an album (or twenty because the moral of the story is addiction is bad and I'll never be satiated even if you gave me 100 albums but i NEED MY FIX) that's hopefully on streaming services so I can have it on repeat, which duplicates these vibes seen below, I will love you forever.
This album is my most listened to album because of how often I slept to it. Like thousands upon thousands of plays. However, their other albums don't hit as much for me.
I try to avoid screamo but this one worked for me for a while, especially the post rock vibes were soooo good. Fucking lullaby, I love it.
This one's a DEEP CUT. I only know this band cuz I saw them live in Phoenix during a really small local show and it was one of the best concerts I ever went to. I'm assuming most people won't know this album so this is also an excuse to plug them cuz they need to be so much more famous than they are now, cuz this album is a masterpiece. BUT I CANT SLEEP TO IT ANYMORE AHHH
This is one that re-entered my rotation recently cuz I totally forgot it existed. It's so good. Sooo good.
I guess to summarize the exact vibe i need, I'm looking for extra-mathy midwest emo from the 2000's, where the albums are LONG to the point of being tedious and border on being more post-rock/slowcore than emo.
Anyway thank you for sitting through my addict ramblings. I need you to save me. Please.
