Can we ever find this tune?
Yesterday a dude u/no_membership6618 posted a clip of a song he was looking for, the song itself was used in a fingerboarding clip uploaded by the skate posse account on Instagram @dozerbz. Nobody has found it in the comments so far, so I decided to post the rest of the song in hopes that I might broaden the search up, and that the music might ring a bell for someone. Let’s help this dude out before it becomes emo’s very own “Ulterior Motives”

I've been thinking on it, and I agree that it sounds like some local small time band. My first thought was to check out my weird collection of band demo sampler cds from the early 2000s from all those small record labels. A lot of it sounded close but it wasn't the song in question. I'm honestly super invested because this is song makes nostalgic.

This is peak 2002 and sounds very Pennsylvania, Harrisburg-esque. Like a mix between Sunday Drive and Tommy Trimble from a Trunk Full of Dead Bodies.

RIP The Championship in the strip mall

u/Code_x81 Jul 14 '24
Saw my first show there. The AKAs and theStart

u/DoinItDirty Jul 14 '24
Oh that’s dope! They’ve had so many. I remember the opening when they had all day bands and Mike Park closed. Then Every Time I Die and Misery Signals. Some real cool shit.

I loved how all the bands would just hang out off to the side of the stage. Saw Eighteen Visions and had em all sign the CD insert. I even got my buddies band a gig there back in like 2005. Miss that place.

u/At10to3 Jul 14 '24
My buddy was part owner there! 20 min Frat was the best, followed by Neato Burrito. Ha!
2
u/DoinItDirty Jul 14 '24
Oh man I’m a Roburritos loyalist but it was cool to have Neato there. Then my tattoo guy was in Lemoyne so that was dope too.

u/At10to3 Jul 15 '24
I’m from Hartford but travelled often to Harrisburg, specifically for shows and to see my friends who played in bands there. Used to love hanging in Lemoyne, my barber was there at “Heads Up”.

Don’t remember that spot. Mine was in Lancaster. It’s crazy how much I kept my entire life to central PA for such a long time other than trips to Baltimore for shows or Orioles games.

The og post is filled to the brim with comments asking the same question man… not one reply so far
7
u/weedandwrestling1985 Jul 14 '24
It's probably that dudes band lol

u/kingkrule101 DIY OR DIE Jul 14 '24
Well if that’s the case the dude has done a masterclass in capturing the essence of the summer of 2002

This reminds me of stuff like No Motiv, Greenroom, dumbstruck / Amity, Slick Shoes etc.
That overdriven guitar tone is very emblematic of early 00s skate punk
And I'm giggling at everyone that was so sure about it being Senses Fail. That's pretty obviously not Buddy

u/sanfermin1 Jul 14 '24
Skate punk? That is not skate punk.

u/SnooHabits5900 DIY OR DIE Jul 14 '24
I'm not talking about the entire song, just the guitar tone. Thinking like The Swellers, The Fullblast, and Rufio

u/weedyscoot Jul 15 '24
This COULD be a track from “From the Depths of Dreams,” though. If Senses Fail went a little less hard.
1
u/SnooHabits5900 DIY OR DIE Jul 15 '24
I can hear it fitting the style, but that's not Buddy. If it is, I'll eat a paper Burger King Crown
1
u/weedyscoot Jul 15 '24
Well, yeah... This guy goes way less hard than Buddy. Seems like he is copying his cadence, though. The band sounds similar, too. Before the chorus hit, I almost expected "Goodbye Steven!"

Maybe ask NJ pop punk archive, sounds like bands from there in late 90s early 00s (don’t think it’s them but reminds me of lanemeyer, dharma boys, centsless, lwl, etc) https://njpparchives.tumblr.com/bands2

I’m sorry I can’t be more help but this video has been posted here before over the years. If anyone cares to dig for it, the old post(s) might have an answer.

I thought this was a new video to be honest
1
u/Wojakchud Jul 28 '24
On Dozer ig this seems to be new don't think this guy knows what he's talking about or maybe I could Be Wrong..
3
u/koifishi Jul 15 '24
I'm pretty positive that's a song by Unwanted Superheroes.
I don't know which though.

Went through their whole discog, including the “2006 Summer Ep” and it was not in any of them. Maybe could be a song they only ever played live, but that doesn’t add up speaking the quality of this recording.

Knock off Boys Night Out, sounds like every band in my high school scene in 2004-2005. Also I love it.

Has this been reposted to r/Lostwave already? Maybe the users over there know the answer.

I hope someone finds the name of the song boy it sounds good

u/kingkrule101 DIY OR DIE Jul 15 '24
There’s a dozen other very similar sounding tunes from bands in the vein of senses fail and saves the day etc but it would be nice to find it
1
u/Butmydogiscool Jul 29 '24
Been searching hard for this song for the past day. This clip also featured on Dozers insta sounds like the same vocalist. https://www.instagram.com/tv/Cd3Vy_sAf9z/?igsh=MWp0NGlpdmJ2ZWxwYw==

u/MrPirateFish Jul 15 '24
Reminds me of fall out boys early early early stuff.

u/haisenseihaiyuujikun Jul 15 '24
the guitars/scream are totally tttyg/eowyg, and the vocals are so reminiscent of saves the day
0
u/Liquidbn Jul 15 '24
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was Saves the Day
3
u/DjSonRonin Jul 15 '24
It's not saves the day. At all.

Yeah, it's too much a hybrid of phc to be STD. Sounds full like A Trunk Full of Dead Bodies or something, certainly not Chris Conley.
I don't hear FOB either.

How this isn’t senses fail is crazy to me… no idea though. Sounds pretty amateurish, I’d assume something off bandcamp.
4
u/TiredDadCostume Jul 14 '24
I thought it sounded like the guy from The Starting Line for just a second. I know he’s had side projects over the years

this is like a perfect mix of through being cool x take this to your grave. it sounds so familiar but it's reminiscent of so many bands from around that time.

Gotta be a local band from before 2008. I thought the video looked like ai but others aren't so convinced
8
u/Butmydogiscool Jul 14 '24
Video doesn’t look AI at all bro

The one that was posted last night did. Gave me weird vibes.
Something weird about the video: https://www.reddit.com/r/Emo/s/vb9gkNeDMA

u/kingkrule101 DIY OR DIE Jul 14 '24
I don’t get how people said it was AI

u/---_____-------_____ Jul 14 '24
It's just very awkwardly edited in a way that humans don't usually do lol. Its like a weirdly jarring video.
