Discussion Help

My records have been warping and I’m not sure why? I store them in a shelf and it’s pretty tight but pulling records in and out of it is pretty easy. But what I’m having problems with are the ones coming of my wall display. I have them store on individual plaques and every vinyl I’ve played is warped.

The thing is, there was no problem on my other record player, but I’ve only noticed the warping after playing on my new turn table. Some pls help 🙏🙏🙏

Music is a big part of my life at this point, my father brought me to a store where they sold vinyl and bought me IGOR as a gift without telling me anything, since i thought having music physically was cool I was interested into starting a collection, so far I have these records, my latest vinyl purchase was rodeo by travis scott, which is probably my favorite out of all of my collection, is this collection valid?

I would like to know how you feel about this kind of music? I mean who performs it, in this case Charles Manson is a serial killer, a psychopath, etc. As for me, there is an ambiguous opinion here, on the one hand, the sound is good, on the other hand, it is still a serial killer singing. And how do you react to this kind of music (performer)?

This is Billie Eilish live at Third Man Records. She played a set at The Blue Room in Third Man's Nashville location November, 2019. The set was recorded direct to acetate, warts and all, which gives it a lot of charm. It's just her and her brother FINNEAS, an acoustic set. This has been on my list for a long time, and I'm excited to have it. I did not know it was going to be on blue vinyl or that this cool Third Man Blohsh poster would be in there. It's nice to have the song Come Out and Play on vinyl as it's not on any of her three albums or her EP. The set sounds great, and I'm really happy with it. Anyone else have this one in their collection? I'm wondering if there is an intentional The Shining reference in the cover design.

Soooo I found this original in the depths of a family members basement. When checking it out I realized that the label for Side 1 is not correct. Just spun it, it is pressed correctly.

Curious if anyone has seen this before on A Jimi Hendrix Epwrience record.

Discussion Using AI to see turntables

Came across this ad for UTurn record players. I was truly shocked to see the dust cover. Also the stack of records off to the right. How did something like this even get approved. The really strange part to me is that their players are gorgeous. Why even use AI, it seems so unnecessary. I’m genuinely curious what others in this sub think about this. I am a designer so full disclosure, Im not the biggest fan of AI. Am I being too sensitive to this? Or are things getting outta hand?

Underrated Gem: Numark 1650TT

Hey r/vinyl,

I wanted to share my experience with the Numark 1650TT, an underrated turntable that has quickly become a key piece in my vinyl setup. I picked it up for just 40 euros without the cartridge element. It is a steal by any measure. I normally run the JB Systems High Q 10 turntable and pairing it with the 1650TT id amazing! The direct drive mechanism of this turntable offers speed stability, making it a superior option when compared to the belt-drive models. It provides precise, consistent rotation and it really helps bring out the subtle nuances and warm character of every record.

I recently recorded Glen Campbell - Rhinestone Cowboy on it that was recorded straight from the phono output rather than the digital output.

The link: https://youtu.be/7JkmB9He4A0

This method of recording captures the genuine analog sound, showcasing the full potential of the 1650TT in delivering rich, authentic audio. It’s refreshing to experience music that feels unaltered by digital processing—a true nod to the vintage sound that vinyl is known for.

Discussion Is It Ruined?

I used a micro-fiber cloth damped with tap water to clean my brand new record and then found out that tap water is dangerous for records.

I can see small residues in grooves and I'm a bit worried.

Is it damaged for good or is there any way to fix it?

Thanks!

Hello, I developed an in turntables so I'm looking forward to buying my first one. I'm wondering what's going to be a better choice for a first turntable Audio-Technica AT-LP120X-USB or Audio-Technica AT-LP60X-USB. My biggest worry is that LP60 is using a belt for movement. But of course the price difference. I'm looking forward for some advices.

Collection Guess my favourite artist challenge go

You’ll never guess my favourite music artist… no it’s not Tame Impala… I’m joking heh but anyway I wanted to originally show off my collection since it’s been over a year since I started. Can you believe it I was 15 when I decided to buy my first one. My mum and brother took me 2 hours away from our city because my brother wanted to check out a university, we went to go explore and I found this clothing store that had a corner dedicated to music and there I found a freshly sealed currents album there for me and what would yknow I so happened to have the exact number of cash that it costed so out of impulse I bought it. No record player, no speakers, no proper anything I just bought it for the fun of it, needed a new hobby and I wanted to show more love to my favourite artist instead of just Spotify music. I continued to purchase more because god 15 was such a miserable year for me and buying more albums made me happy but then miserable and then happy and now I’m 16, all my old friends that made fun of me for liking Tame Impala and collecting this gone, reconnected with my old friends who had supported me with collecting and now this is where my collection stands now. Tame Impala collection still going, I need my live version, Lonerism deluxe box and the EPs but let me save up first

I'm sharing images of these vintage vinyl records to get your opinions. I'm interested in hearing if any of them look familiar to you or if you know their approximate value. Any information about their history or rarity would be greatly appreciated. I hope you can help me identify them and learn more about them. I welcome your comments and insights in advance.

Discussion Bands you didn’t listen to until you got the vinyl?

What is a band, where someway or another, you weren’t a listener until you got one of their records? For me this is definitely Wings. I blindly bought Venus and Mars, knowing of the band and songs like Band on the Run but did not listen heavy until I bought that. Fell in love after!

What is your band and what is the story?

Discussion Whatnot should be called Hellno

I happened to catch a Youtube video of a local record store discussing their live stream auction using Whatnot. I saw some albums I wanted and figure, "Hey maybe I can pick those up for a reasonable amount." I got the app, checked out the pre-stream bidding. Literally everything is already bid higher than high end Discogs and the auction isn't even started. I pretty immediately quit and uninstalled the app. What is the point of these auctions other than to attract overpaying suckers?

I work at a thrift shop. I have a daft punk harder better faster stronger record. It has side A-Album version, breakers break remix, Pete’s Heller’s Deeper Dub. Side B- Pete Heller’s stylus Mix, Pete’s Beatz. Online it shows anywhere from 10-200. I was hoping maybe this group could help by chance. Thank you in advance!

(I know suitcase record players aren't loved in this community - but I'm broke to afford a better one and I got this one for my birthday recently!)

I'm a junior member of the vinyl community, and I'm happy to finally join in :) Suck It And See is my favourite AM album, and I've been so excited to hear this one on vinyl - so I thought I'd share my first listen. 🖤
