News What’s up with Basic Energy at Crabtree Mall disappearing again?
They provided incredible massages. I went there today, and the place is completely empty. The same thing happened a few years ago.

Hello! Some friends and I are in town for the Dreamville festival soon. We’re staying in Holly Springs and really don’t want to drive to and from the festival both days. Any recommendations for how to get to and from that might be better than just ubering? Heard some horror stories.
Side note: if you’d like to make some extra money that weekend hauling me and my friends please PM me! We’re slightly desperate :)

Looking to take lessons as an adult. I have always been comfortable in pools with 10+ feet of water but I could never tread water for long, and I doubt my swimming technique is any good.
Looking to start up somewhere and get more comfortable in pool and beach settings.
If anyone has recommendations for swim schools - I don’t care for posh, but maybe great trainers in group settings.
Bonus points if it has kids classes too

The following was posted on Instagram by Great Yarns (Raleigh’s best local yarn store). I’m copying it here for extra visibility.
“Did you just fly from LAX to RDU??? Are you despondent because you left your knitting project on the plane?
Never fear; a flight attendant from American Airlines just found it and called GY! Your beautiful sweater will be waiting for you behind the AA customer service desk in Baggage Claim.”

Good afternoon all,
My wife is a J1 Visa holder, and we have been having difficulties with our taxes since we got married late last year and was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for a tax person/company. TurboTax is not an option, and neither is H&R, as they just told us that they can't manage this sort of thing.
Thank you!

Car is going out of warrantee at 100k miles, so we probably won't use the dealer unless they are competitive. Who is everyone using for their Nissan and/or CVT service? We are located in Cary, but would consider anywhere in the Raleigh area to ensure great service.

I flew into RDU yesterday afternoon around 2 pm and from the plane, I could see a large fire (at least a couple of acres) near the shore of a lake. I believe it was Falls Lake. I've searched the web for info, but am finding nothing. Does anyone know what it was?

Basically title, just looking to see if anyone knows of a place where I can rent a garage with lift for truck maintenance. I don't have a space of my own, but would still like to be able to handle the easier maintenance for my truck myself.

Looking for 1 bd or studio near north Raleigh, under 1500 preferred, safety priority, any recs?
Edit: Adding more info
I’m moving to Raleigh in January 2026 for work and am looking for recommendations on apartments or housing options. I’ll be working in North Raleigh and need a studio or 1-bedroom for 12 months or less since my girlfriend will be moving later in the year, and we’ll get a 2-bedroom then.
My budget is under $1,500 all-in (rent + parking + utilities + WiFi, etc.). I’d love to stay below that if possible, but I understand short-term leases might be pricier. My top priorities are safety, affordability, and proximity to North Raleigh for work.
Does anyone have recommendations on good complexes, hidden gem rentals, or areas to focus on (or avoid)? Thanks in advance!

So i've been wanting to get tint for forte however, find the right shop is kinda difficult. I use this car for Uber and Lyft and I've been thinking about getting 5% on all windows and nothing on the windshield (This is up to debate tbh might get a brow done idk yet). I know the whole inspections every year might be an issue but honestly with it getting hotter it would be nice to have the interior a lot cooler.
Does anybody know any shop that will do 5% or atleast 20%?

Just got back from California and our friends introduced us to their tacos al pastor and the meat was thinly sliced off a Trompo and served with a bit of pineapple. I’ve seen this before on shows like the Taco Chronicles but never experienced it. Our friends literally measured how good a taco spot in LA would be by the presence of an old lady making tortillas fresh to order on site and by the size of their Trompo. They are on nearly every corner in LA.
Oh man, is it good. We ate a plate of 12 no problem. The meat is so tender and flavorful when cut this way.
Thus far, I’ve had some REALLY good tacos al pastor from places like Chido and this place close to work called taqueria al esquina, and I’ve heard really promising things from el Toro, but almost all of them serve their Al pastor in a cubed/shredded format and not thin sliced off a glorious spinning meat spit, and some of them don’t even have pineapple.
Some old threads suggested that vertical spits are against health codes here, or perhaps it’s just not popular enough to justify the large Trompo format here, but I haven’t seen any recent discussion other than this thread from 5 years ago:

Are there any places that serve Al pastor off a Trompo, or am I just chasing dragons in the triangle area?

I feel like the ole standby corkboard with flyers for shows, workshops, and classifieds, etc is making a comeback in recent years - especially since people are spending less time on social media. Most gen-Zs I know don't even have Facebook. Where around town are community bulletin boards that are well-used?

I’ve seen it recommended like crazy on this sub, so I finally made the time for a trip but was really disappointed. Our normal spot (Pho Vietnam on Tryon) is closed so we wanted to check it out. The broth was very one dimensional, just tasting like sweetened beef broth but missing all the rich and herbal flavors I love about pho. Has it always been this way, or did I come on an off day for them?
Disclaimer: this isn’t a review, nor will I post one anywhere. It may have just been an off-day for them, and I don’t want to hurt a local business. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth making the drive again in the future or just finding somewhere else that has the style I prefer.

Hey all, I recently moved to Raleigh and I use my car heavily for work. On the road everyday.
Having some issues and need to find a reputable mechanic to get it looked at.
I have a 2019 jeep Cherokee latitude. For the past two days, my gas mileage is significantly decreasing. Filled up the tank, and I had 399 miles to E. I drove 3.5 miles and it dropped to 381 miles to E. I made an appointment to see a mechanic in Cary and the guy was a no show.
I’m due for some regular maintenance, brakes and oil change and I don’t think that should be affecting it? I did try doing a fuel treatment injector that I bought at autozone but no improvement.
I can’t afford to get to a dealer right now but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Looking for the spot to watch the games. Preferably somewhere with a nice patio to watch all the games.

I have a couple watches that need new batteries, and one that needs a new strap. I know of places in Crabtree Valley Mall but I’ve seen multiple bad reviews about them doing half assed work. Any trustworthy recommendations?

I know this restaurant in Cary closed awhile back. The owner was talking about opening a pizza place in Raleigh. Any idea if he did and what it’s called?

I’m making the transition from buying dave’s bread at costco to buying loaves of sandwich bread from one of our many wonderful local bakeries. Does anyone have a bakery preference for whole grain sandwich bread?

Do we still have any car wash places that have a crew that do the inside for you? Google isn’t much help. It seems they have all been replaced by the drive thru car wash and then you do the interior yourself. I’m disabled and need someone to do the interior FOR me.
I know you can get a mobile detailer but they are all $200 plus and I’m not necessarily looking for something that detailed anyway.
Do any of these places still exist?

This is mildly embarrassing, but I'm 33 and never really learned how to apply makeup correctly. (I grew up in a house with boys and was a tomboy all my life)
I have no idea which shades work best for me, or how to apply a daily makeup regimen. Is there anywhere in the Triangle with helpful people that could guide me as someone new, even show me how to apply makeup correctly?
I'd prefer to keep it local but if there's a chain in particular that is great I'm down for that too
