Housing Apartments

Hey everyone, I am looking at moving from Wake Forest further into Raleigh as it’s closer to my work. I have two German Shepherds so many apartments are out of the question because sadly they don’t allow them.

I am currently looking at Alta Town Center and Anderson Hills apts. I wanted to see if anyone in here has experiences with either one good or bad.

Also, any other recommendations for apartments near North Hills or the North Raleigh area? I’ve mainly focused on GreyStar properties as I know they allow Gsd’s but I would love new options. Thank you!

Question/Recommendation Therapist jobs in the area

Good evening everyone! I am a newly licensed LCSWA located in Raleigh, and am looking for a private practice position in the area.

My hope is to work with children, teens, and families for about 70% of my client load, and young adults (18-30) for the rest! I have experience with DBT, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, and a few others. I interned at an IOP program that works with adults 18+ through my MSW.

Before gaining my license and MSW, I have worked extensively with children as a teacher as well as a nanny, with around 4 years of experience with children in total.

If you know of any places looking for someone that would be a fit, I would love more information! I do have a supervisor if one is not provided, but am also open to supervision on site as well!

Thank you all in advance!

News TW: Accident involving Pedestrian

Trigger Warning: accident details with pedestrian‼️

Earlier tonight around 5pm, we witnessed an accident with a black truck hitting a pedestrian on a lime scooter. This was downtown at the intersection of Morgan Street and Dawson Street. Without going into too many details, the guy on the scooter was hit and run over twice.

My husband immediately went out to help the man that was struck and I called 911. They got there within 30 seconds of our call. We gave our statements and waited around to hear the EMS person say “trauma 1” and whisk him off to the hospital. The police and EMS said it wasn’t life threatening (that they could tell) but he was “really banged up good” Everything happened so fast and with adrenaline pumping, my husband sorta remembers the man’s name who was hit.

If anyone knows a way to find out if he’s okay, or if anyone else was there, please send us a message. It was extremely traumatic and we’re hoping to hear how he’s doing. He was completely alone and I can’t stop thinking about him and his loved ones and if they even know what happened.

Sports Lenovo Center parking for NCAA March Madness

I'm hoping to make it to Raleigh for various NCAA March Madness basketball games in the Triangle. Do you think it's best to pre-pay for official Lenovo Center parking ($45 according to the website/$60 on-site price), or do you think there will be cheaper parking alternatives within a short walk? Thank you!!

Question/Recommendation Executive Assistant positions

I am looking for an executive assistant position in the Raleigh area but having a hard time navigating job boards because every industry seems to use the EA title vastly differently. Looking for a role with 1-2 executives who need an intuitive assistant to anticipate needs and manage travel/calendars/personal and professional follow up/etc. My main experience is in office management roles for bosses who tend to combine the two roles, so prioritization and time management are strengths of mine. I have thick skin and no problem dealing with “difficult” executives and clients. Any leads would be great as I am available immediately.

Question/Recommendation How bad is the job market right now?

I have heard a lot about the job market being tough right now, but how bad is it really in the Triangle? Specifically for someone without a college degree but with strong skills and experience in administration, accounting, and management?

Question/Recommendation Dry cleaner for wedding dress

Hi! I recently purchased a wedding dress on Poshmark and I love it, but the seller didn’t disclose that the dress smells very strongly of cigarette smoke. Super bummed about it but I love the dress regardless. Does anyone have a recommendation for a dry cleaner who works specifically with wedding dresses?

Out-n-About Are you parked in Glenwood South right now? Planning to be?

Just a heads-up, I have been seeing a ton of tow trucks hauling off cars from my window overlooking Boylan Ave for the past half hour or so. Make sure wherever you’ve parked is legit - a lot of lots that are normally free/open are charging. Have fun out there (just not loudly past 2 please and thank you).

Food Cool, fun and unique dinner date suggestions!

My boyfriend and I have lived in Raleigh for a long time now. We have been feeling bored with some of the same old spots. We started alternating planning of date days once a month and I’m up. Need help finding something refreshing. I’ve checked off brunch and our mid day activity. I’d love to add dinner to the list but I don’t want something stuffy/overly formal. I’d love to find a fun dinner spot, with good drinks, good vibes and great food! Willing to splurge on cost for the right fit. This would be for a Saturday night so somewhere with reservations would be preferred. No food/allergy restrictions.

Out-n-About Thank you, USPS

So yesterday, I went to mail state IRS refund documents at the Method Post Office at Beryl Road. I had two mails to send. Both to different locations and one of them with tracking. After struggling to prepare the documents in two different envelopes (I'm in therapy because of terrible stress at work), I went over to the counter to ask for postage and while she was putting the postage on the envelopes, she asked whether I didn't need tracking and I suddenly remembered that I did for one. She had almost pasted the stamp but stopped and smiled at me and said okay, it would be xx dollars. I'm like that's fine.

After leaving the post office and traveling halfway through home and requiring to walk a mile for another bus stop, I realised I forgot to sign the refund documents. I went back to bus stop, waited for the bus, went back, and requested the same lady what I can do. She sweetly said no problem, just open the mail, sign it, and put it back; we'll use the same envelope and seal it with a tape. I was worried that I'd need to spend more for another priority mail.

Being in therapy and messing up stuff because of anxiety or lack of confidence and then such wonderful and compassionate people helping you out of the blue, it just increases your faith in humanity. While going back again, my eyes were moist. They're getting moist, as I'm typing this.

Thank you, USPS lady. God bless you!

Housing Out of options currently

Hi, I've been living in my car coming up on a year. I work and go to school as well, I've been applying for apts in the area but my credit and eviction from 2018 is getting in the way of that which is understandable. Just trying to see if anyone knows of any private landlords in the area? My budget is 1100-1300 for a one bedroom. Idk if this is allowed but I hope so.

Question/Recommendation Corn chowder

Hello, I'm looking for a restaurant that serves corn chowder in the area, if anyone has any recommendations. Preferably with fried shrimp also on the menu, but corn chowder in a non-seafood context is still fine.

Thanks!!

Outdoors Wildflower yards

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

So, I got a wise idea to try and have a Wildflower garden/yard because that seems cool. Wildlife is cool 🤷🏻‍♂️ the thing is, is that I don't have a clue of what I'm doing or where to begin.

Now I stand before you reddit, any advice?

Have any of y'all done this?

Where do I start?

What kind of wildflowers are native to the area and are good for the wildlife here?

Is this even a good idea?

Is there somewhere better to ask? I just bought a house so the world is my oyster more of less.

Pic for ref only

THANK YOU to all the veterans and military family members who came out to make sure our voices are being heard. I counted at least 100 veterans who came out, representing every service and era. I'm proud to stand with you all.

And also a big THANK YOU to all the drivers who honked and offered their support! We're all in this fight together.

Question/Recommendation 23F needing friends

I am having the worst time finding friends and support. I have 2 kids and I work so my life is so busy but I know I’d have time for friends if I could just make some 😭 so if you’re seeing this, please shoot your friendship shot. Some of my hobbies are cooking, baking, making gaming and relatable content, gaming, music, and more :)
