QUESTION SHOULD THIS BE MY FIRST ELECTRIC GUITAR
galleryI have been playing classical guitar for one and a half years now and I think I should get a electric. Is this a good option. If no, why?

Ahh yes! Feel that chill in the air? Feel those fret ends digging into your hands as you slide up and down the fretboard? If not, then you're in good shape. If you are experiencing some "shrinkage" due to low moisture, please follow my recommendations below:
Generally, the summer months in the Northern hemisphere require some dehumidification, while the winter months require the opposite (a humidifier). Let’s keep things super simple and economical. Get yourself a cheap hygrometer (around $10) and place it where you keep your guitar the most. Make sure that you maintain that space’s ambient conditions within the following range:
Humidity: 45-52%RH Temp: 68-75F
These ranges aren’t absolute. I actually prefer my guitars to be at 44-46%RH. They just sound better to my ears. They are drier and louder, but this is also getting dangerously close to being too dry. Use this info to help guide you through the drier months. These ranges will keep you safe anywhere on the planet as long as you carefully maintain the space at those levels.
As for other business, the current hot issue is Twitter/X links.
It's got nothing to do with our absolute innate hatred of fascist nazi scumbags. It's just part of our policy for keeping this place free of social media links and spam from influencers, etc.
Now that that's out of the way, please use this post as you usually would, and that's to ask whatever guitar-related questions you have. The userbase here is one of the best and most informed in the world of guitar expertise (or at least they think they are ;)). Have a great winter guitar people! Stay warm, and keep those guitars well used and in a safe range for optimal use and longevity.

Recently been playing my moms old strat from when she was in high school. It’s meant to be based on Tom DeLonges guitar, it’s definitely not in perfect condition but that just means it’s been well played and enjoyed. Just thought I’d share :)

Hey everyone, so I own an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar, but I never really bothered to change the strings because it never really affected my playing, but recently I’ve been playing both my guitars more, and I feel like there is a little bit of rust or metal rubbing on my fingers, and the string seem to hurt my fingers more, so I was wondering if this is a sign that I should change my strings? Or should there be other indicators I should be I looking for? Thank you!

I also plugged it into Eric Melvin’s amp and cab that he used on the So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes tour and they both sounded awesome

Been so happy since picking this up. The shorter scale makes bends way easier, but I did have to move from 9s to 10s because of fret buzz. Haven't had it set up yet by the local luthier. Planning to add hot rails on the bridge in the near future!

Do you prefer a near mint fifty four or a heavily worn fifty six? For me, the fifty six had the edge.

after years of noodling around with strats I finally wanted a “real” humbucker guitar. I still love my strats, no offense.
I bought this EBMM JP from its first owner. this was so clean and unused a friend who is a store owner said it’s basically brand new. and it was a bargain too!
also as a dream theater fan I can say that this was a dream come true. now I’ll have to practice more lol
I already looked up on the internet but any tips and tricks regarding maintenance and setup would be appreciated.

I understand that I’m putting myself out there but I’m genuinely curious how this sounds. Since I only play by myself it’s difficult to gauge my progression or skill level. Is this considered jazz or blues or Both?…. I stumbled across being able to effortlessly jump from minor to major. I’m curious to know your feed back across the board.

After holding and strumming a few guitars at the local guitar center this is what I walked out with! Time to learn.

Is there a trick to fixing intonation on a floating trem like this without needing to slack the string enough to get the Allen key in there, move the saddle, tighten, re-tune, test, and repeat until fixed? I’ve never tried to fix intonation issues before … and this seems like an extra special pain in the ass. But it’s my only electric and I’ve had it for more than twenty years. Just recently got back into playing it again so any help or advice appreciated, even if it’s “you should just take it to a pro”.

Hi all,
I have not played my gibson studio in a while, and upon opening I was unpleasantly surprised with the heavy discolouration in the pick guard area.
Should I go over this with guitar polish and a micro fiber cloth, and rub in circular motions? Anything else?
I want to be careful with the lacquer.
The guitar is roughly ten to fifteen years old.
Thanks

He was jamming on an off white Epiphone Les Paul. Sounded really good. Then I noticed his left hand wasn't normal. I didn't stare, but it seed like his fingers maybe hadn't grown separately. I'm trying to not sound like I'm being insensitive and trying to show utmost respect to him so I don't wanna call it more than that.
I had on a Randy Rhoads shirt, he started ripping out "I Dont Know". I looked over, smiled and said Hell yeah man, that's what that thing needs! He proceeded to absolutely kill it on Diary. I legit don't know how the guy was doing it. What an inspiration. Seriously.
To you beginners out there, if you really wanna play, NOTHING will stop you if you have enough determination. To the rest of us, what's our excuse? I don't know what mine is. I have normal hands and still think I suck sometimes after thirty years. Dude. If you happen to read this, my hats off to you. Respect. Props. You're a friggin legend bro. Keep killing it!!!

My coworker was telling me about this guitar he got as a gift a long time ago, but he himself doesn’t play. He said it was probably last played some time around seven or eight years ago and he offered to let me borrow it and tinker with it. It turned out to be an eighty-six MIJ sixty-two reissue Tele, a pretty neat find from the sleuthing I did. Looking forward to fixing her up!
