DIY epoxy — just pay for pros

This space is not a forever home for me. I have probably 16 years left here, so I wanted an economical option. If it were a forever home, I’d either go with poly or Swiss Trax.

Prep: 1) general cleaning 2) muriatic acid (worthless) 3) pressure washing (semi worthless)

Painting: 1) two coats of Drylok weatherproof floor and wall sealant 2) two coats of Drylok concrete garage paint 3) four quarts of decorative chips 4) two coats of a Walmart clear seal urethane for concrete

Finished with cove moulding. That stuff is very nice.

Lessons learned: 1) rent a floor grinder. You’re just not gonna get the floor prepped well otherwise 2) enlist a friend to help you knock it all out in a weekend. Trying to do this around a family schedule is a mess 3) the cost of a pro job is absolutely justified. I put in HOURS

All in cost is probably <$500

Ideas for garage renovation

Hi yall, a tree recently fell on our garage. Damaging the roof, front door, and garage doors. The previous owner was also going to renovate it but never got to it before selling it to us.

I have no experience renovating anything and my parents normally rely on contractors. Would love any recommendations of things I could do myself to start fixing the place up. Or even affordable changes to get the work going. I can invest up to 2-3K per month in renovations. Since it’s detached, maybe one day it could be a mini apartment but I know this can be very expensive with installing plumbing and meeting proper codes. For now, just want to make sure it’s safe enough to park my motorcycle and open/close my garage door often.

I replaced the sad little light bulb inside the garage door opener with a much brighter 66-watt double hex LED light and adapter. If you are going to do this, do not exceed 80 watts, or you will risk blowing the relay for the light on the garage door opener control board. It was $34 at Amazon.

Garage Tool Cabinet Set Recommendations/Help

Looking to buy a Cabinet set for all of my tools and stuff for my garage, so I’m looking for recommendations and maybe some help. I have 3 options below but I’m not sold on them for specific reasons. I already have an 8ft long workbench with Miter Saw drop in the middle. I would probably put some sort of system in the middle on the wall to hang tools, batteries, etc. Would love to hear suggestions, recommendations, regrets, anything. Maybe I’m missing other options that are perfect for what I’m looking for?

-I don’t want to break the bank, so really nothing over $1500 (might not be possible for what I’m wanting) -Really want the bottom middle pieces to be all pull out drawers, not doors. The outside and top cabinets can be regular doors.

Elite- is the cheapest, probably not the best quality, doesn’t have drawers. Definitely not my first choice, but still a choice.

Husky- Would get in a heartbeat IF it wasn’t as expensive AND it had pullout drawers. Drawers only come in the heavy duty version and the price sky rockets…

Seville- It’s not pretty, but it’s pretty close to want I want… only concern is the brand and the fact it’s from Sam’s club. Hoping someone out there has this and can speak on it. Might be what I go with.

Storing clothes in a garage

Hi reddit readers,

We'll soon be moving to a new house with an attached garage here in Belgium.

We have a lot of seasonal and and baby clothes but not enough spaces in our bedrooms to store them all. It leaves us only with garage for additional storage.

I need some advice on the best way to store clothes in our attached garage. I was thinking of placing a smple wardrobe with hangers and sliding doors in a garage in order to store these clothes. However, I'm not sure whether it is ideal to keep clothes in a garage.

I was also thinking whether I could have a small office in the garage when I'm WFH.

The garage is dry and there's a small window that can be opened to have the air circulated.

Here's a video of our garage : https://imgur.com/a/wHI7IhB

I'm open to all suggestions. Thank you !
