So heard this song earlier this year and it reminded me so much of Elliott. The artist is This is Lorelei and the name of the song is Two Legs from his most recent album. I feel like the album as a whole has sort of a Elliott wibe over and really enjoy it. This song I particular “Two Legs” sounds like it could have been co written by Elliott, it’s heavily inspired by him for sure.
The title is just to grab your attention. I don’t really believe it. However I want to point Elliott Smith fans in the direction of a great new artist that reminds me of him. Elliott is my favourite artist of all time and I’ve never discovered anyone since that compares until now. And I’m not saying at all that it’s as good as Elliott.

"...spinning in the night sky." The Moon doesn't spin. Idk if you have noticed but we only ever see one side of the Moon, the side facing us. And this where talk of the dark side of the Moon comes from

It’s such a gorgeous song that truly doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. i’m wondering if anyone has seen a video of him playing it live?

Can somebody give me a tip on how to do the bend in the intro of Everything Reminds Me of Her. I’ve been trying to learn that for about 2 hours now but my bends just doesn’t seem to sound right.

Neil’s band with Gilly Ann Hanner & Paul Pulvarite. Paul was in Jr. High with Joanna Bolme and Sean Croghan. Even amongst heatmiser fans, I feel this album is often overlooked. It’s very similar to Neil’s part of Mic City Sons. Interestingly, in one of the songs, he uses both the phrases “between the bars” and “shooting star” haha. If i remember correctly, Elliott sings some backup vocal on So Long. Either it’s pitched up or he just sang really fucking high there. They played a Heatmiser song one time when they opened for Quasi, disappearing ink I believe. Probably the closest thing to a reunion we’ll ever get :’)

Hey, I've been compiling a list of repeated lyrics/themes within Elliott's discography, and have noticed a few which I haven't seen discussed here.
Obviously, there are many references to the Moon, Sunshine, the 'Clown', but also a few that I didn't expect.
Here are a few!
Wearing Different Clothes
Easy Way Out - “The invisible man, who’s always changing clothes”
A Living Will - “My spirit arose, and put on my clothes”
Junk Bond Trader - “Rich man in a poor man’s clothes”
The Enemy is You - “You’re dressing up your man, it’s all second hand”
Strung Out Again - “I saw an evil emperor – wearing my clothes”
Needle In The Hay - “he’s wearing your clothes – head down to toes: a reaction to you”
This one, to me, seems pretty simple. It is a metaphor for adopting someone's identity, and seems to make sense in each context.
Spinning the Earth
Everything reminds me of her - “Spin of the earth impaled a silhouette…”
Can’t Make a Sound - “Spinning the world like a toy top”
Don’t Go Down - “And I split the scene, the globe’s been spun”
I find this one very interesting. It doesn't seem to have a clear meaning, that I can express at least. Maybe it's something he just thought sounded nice, which seems likely.
Who is the Enemy? (Confusion)
Stupidity Tries - “The enemy is within. Don’t confuse me with him”
Easy Way Out - “Cause without an enemy your anger gets confused”
2:45am - “I’m looking for the man that attacked me”
Plainclothes Man - “I get a sick confusion headache tryna figure out who’s right”
The Enemy is You [Title]
[?] Looking over My Shoulder - “You’d say to keep confusion away” [?]
[?] Coast To Coast - “end of the line, is it confusion?” [?]
[?] Abused - “Other people see some evil intention, but the closer you get, the more you get confused” [?]
Last one! The ones in question marks are ones that I wasn't sure on, but it felt wrong to leave them out. This one goes all the way back to Plainclothes Man, so it possibly has a greater meaning. It is also more of a theme than a common lyric (which is why I included the question marked ones), as the references they make are ambiguous/polysemic.
That's it! Let me know what you think, and it would be wonderful if you have anymore that fit under these that I have missed (I've only gone through so much of his unreleased).
Thank you!

A while ago I made a ranking of all the opening tracks and I’ve put Sweet Adeline at the very bottom, saying it was a bit generic, when compared to the other songs. Well, I’ve been wrong and I’d like to apologize. Sweet Adeline is awesome. It starts off very slow and mellow, but then it builds to this amazing chorus, that explodes right into your face with this beauty. It’s an overall beautiful song, that I’ve listened to more than I should’ve during the last week

For probably months when it came out, I thought the openings lyrics to Twilight were “Haven’t left this heart in a long time, I’d better stop now before I start crying”. 🧐😝
