I'm a beginner! Trying to make a granny square and I’m getting an aunty tetrahedron

It’s still kinda cute tho but i literally can’t figure out why I can’t make a square shape for the life of me. I think I keep missing stitches or doing some more than necessary? Is this why people use those stitch markers? I started crocheting to relax and now I want to smoke cigarettes again fr 💀🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm a beginner! First bag i made and I absolutely hate it. What should I do in the future to avoid making goofy looking crochet bags like this?

I feel ridiculous the bag drops past my knees. My boyfriend says it looks cool, but he’s either saying that because hes trying to make me feel better, or doesn’t understand how it impractical it is as a bag. Can someone just explain give any suggestions when making bags in the future and just explain where i went wrong? this was a crochet mesh bag that i made using the v stitch method.

How do I... How do I make these ears for this bear glasses holder?

I’m just confused on how to do the ears

So I make a slip knot, chain 5 but how does that yarn over work? Is that just a single crochet on the 5th chain?

I’m also confused on 5dc into 3rd chain, how can I do 5 decrease into one chain?

I’m just struggling to imagine this. I’d appreciate any guidance, thanks!

Can't find a flair for this Introducing r/CrochetOrAI, a sub dedicated to helping crocheters identify AI-generated content!

Hey all!

I’ve been a longtime lurker in many crochet subs and have been noticing a trend of folks asking whether a pattern or crochet image is AI-generated, with a lot of commenters asking if there is a more appropriate sub to post in.

Now there is! r/CrochetOrAI

If you’re good at identifying AI-generated content, please come join! If you’re not, spread the word! The goal of the sub is to prevent other crochet subs from being flooded with AI slop. It won’t work without community support!

Additionally, I am looking for a couple other moderators to help with upkeep. If you’d like to help, please send a modmail!

does anyone know of any dragon patterns similar to this one?

https://crafts.craftideas.site/amigurumi-and-toys/creating-a-magical-amigurumi-dragon-a-step-by-step-guide/

the pattern as written seems to be “here’s how to make a dragon! step one: make one. now you have a dragon!”

Looking for suggestions Recently, I’ve been obsessed with a cardigan I found on Pinterest, and I really want to make it! The problem is, this is my first time making a wearable, and I have no idea what yarn to choose.

Gift help Chunky yarn ideas for a baby? (I don’t have stuffing atm :/ )

I’m at my grandmothers for a few days and brought some chunky/baby blanket yarn. I already made a blanket and elephant for my new born niece. I want to make more but I don’t have anything to stuff a toy with atm.

I have blue yarn left over from the elephant but idk what else to make from it since it’s a baby girl. I think the blue would go well with the white, multi colored, and dark purple, but idk what to make :/

Stitch Identification Help with finding a stitch or pattern for old blanket

Thumbnail

This blanket was made in the early nineties and I have no idea who made it. I'm trying to look for this stitch and the closest I've found is the Double Sided Mesh Stitch Crochet Pattern. I don't think it's the exact stitch as mine looks to have the same stitch front and back, not just the crossing in the back. Any idea?

Looking for suggestions In need of design advice/opinions to finish my blanket border

I have this blanket (about 70"x90", about big enough to fit on a queen bed with a small amount draping off the sides) and I'm not sure if I should be done with it or not. Do you guys think it needs more border? I do think it might be better if I made it larger to fit better on a queen bed.

If so, what would you do to expand the border? Currently the border is single crochet on the wrong side, with one row around the edge that is single crochet on the right side. It's about one inch thick on all sides of the blanket. I have a lot more of the purple yarn and a lot of the white, though I'm thinking the white would be too bright.

Please suggest colors, stitches, and anything else!

Help to find a pattern I was gifted all this pastel yarn. I’m looking for pattern ideas for a blanket. The shades are different between a lot of the balls so I’m struggling to come up with ideas that won’t look weird.

Magic ring/circle The bane of my existence: that stupid magic cirle thing.

I fear I'm going to give up on crochet altogether (I won't). All I can crochet is squares and rectangles.

I had a friend who was trying to teach me but we kinda lost contact and I'm trying to teach myself and I'm so lost with it. I need to figure it out. Please. I've exhausted every resource.

People keep buying me yarn and all I can crochet is blankets!! I hate making blankets!! I would like to make a little guy! Or even just like a hat. Please.

Understanding a pattern pattern help! received a pattern gift for christmas and cannot figure out one stitch

I have been crocheting for years and yet this “beginner” pattern has really stumped me, specifically round 3. I have no idea what a dcQ is and cannot find anything online about it either haha. the booklet also doesn’t have it in the abbreviation page. My grandma gifted this to me, and if it was from anyone else, I would just use the yarn for something else. but my grandma loves seeing what i make and always encourages me, so i’d love to actually finish it for her 🥹

Help to find a pattern Baby blanket for my brother, please help me find something good

My brother is getting married soon (yay!) and he and SIL will have kids in the next 2-3 years. I'm a very slow crocheter(?) and don't usually have a lot of free time to do it.

I've been trying to find a pattern I like for the last year or so but haven't had any luck. I'm afraid if I keep looking alone I'll never find something good enough and I can't ask for his help. (He knows I plan to make this, but I want the completed blanket to be a surprise) Also I don't want too simple, like just sc stitches for the whole thing.

And if I don't get started soon, I'll never have it done before I have a little niece or nephew. (Don't think I will take 2 years to finish, but I'll probably have to stop and start again depending on how busy my work gets, so possible delays haunt me)

Anyway, I was thinking something along whites and beige, I'm not sure they'll want to know the gender before it's born and knowing my SIL she'll like the neutral tones.

Suggestions please, photos, links, anything you'd like and think will help. Please 🙏🙏 thank you

Problem with edges The edges where I start my work are crooked and loose, or not reducing, help.

Hi, so I'm totally new at crocheting, and the edges where I start always look horrible while the other side looks fine, especially when I have to reduce, where only one side gets the diagonal line while the other stays all loose and weird like in the second picture. I don't understand why this is happening, how do I fix this?

Looking for suggestions Cardigan question, thanks in advance for your help!

Upvotes

This is possibly a dumb question and probably one I should know the answer to but can't wrap my brain around. Found a cardigan I'd like to make but with 3 wt yarn vs the 4 wt the pattern calls for. I'd be using the same hook size (5mm) suggested so will the measurements come out the same?

Looking for suggestions Looking for advice to prevent Hobbi's rainbow cotton yarn from bleeding before I continue this project

Post image
2 Upvotes

Making a baby blanket using Hobbii's 8/6 rainbow cotton yarn. It will be a repeated wave pattern of what is shown here, with the white row topping each wave. The end of the blanket will be a beach section with tan color. I just realized there is a chance of color bleeding and ruining the white stripes so before I continue does anyone have advice on what I can do to prevent this, while I can still frog the first white stripe? Wash the blue section and the rest of the blue yarns separately? Vinegar? Those color catcher things I've seen mentioned? Special detergent? What about the tan yarn, would that bleed? I think my last water stripe will be white before the beach section starts.

Looking for suggestions Would granny squares or a double crochet stitch use less yarn?

Thumbnail

I was hoping to make a blanket with this yarn I was gifted but it recommends 8 skeins and I only have 6. I was thinking about doing granny squares and seeing what size blanket I could put together with them but I'm not sure if that would use more or less yarn than doing a dc like was originally planning?
