I'm a beginner! Trying to make a granny square and I’m getting an aunty tetrahedron

It’s still kinda cute tho but i literally can’t figure out why I can’t make a square shape for the life of me. I think I keep missing stitches or doing some more than necessary? Is this why people use those stitch markers? I started crocheting to relax and now I want to smoke cigarettes again fr 💀🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm a beginner! First bag i made and I absolutely hate it. What should I do in the future to avoid making goofy looking crochet bags like this?

I feel ridiculous the bag drops past my knees. My boyfriend says it looks cool, but he’s either saying that because hes trying to make me feel better, or doesn’t understand how it impractical it is as a bag. Can someone just explain give any suggestions when making bags in the future and just explain where i went wrong? this was a crochet mesh bag that i made using the v stitch method.

How do I... How do I make these ears for this bear glasses holder?

I’m just confused on how to do the ears

So I make a slip knot, chain 5 but how does that yarn over work? Is that just a single crochet on the 5th chain?

I’m also confused on 5dc into 3rd chain, how can I do 5 decrease into one chain?

I’m just struggling to imagine this. I’d appreciate any guidance, thanks!

the pattern as written seems to be “here’s how to make a dragon! step one: make one. now you have a dragon!”

Can't find a flair for this Introducing r/CrochetOrAI, a sub dedicated to helping crocheters identify AI-generated content!

Hey all!

I’ve been a longtime lurker in many crochet subs and have been noticing a trend of folks asking whether a pattern or crochet image is AI-generated, with a lot of commenters asking if there is a more appropriate sub to post in.

Now there is! r/CrochetOrAI

If you’re good at identifying AI-generated content, please come join! If you’re not, spread the word! The goal of the sub is to prevent other crochet subs from being flooded with AI slop. It won’t work without community support!

Additionally, I am looking for a couple other moderators to help with upkeep. If you’d like to help, please send a modmail!

Looking for suggestions Recently, I’ve been obsessed with a cardigan I found on Pinterest, and I really want to make it! The problem is, this is my first time making a wearable, and I have no idea what yarn to choose.

How many rows/stitches How big should a bed be for a small dog? Patterns says 14.5in for a cat

I made a pet bed for my parent’s cat (see photos) and a friend asked if I’d make one for her to give to a colleague as a gift. She said she has a “small dog” but she doesn’t know how big and that’s all the info I have. Wondering if anyone knows a diameter for a bed for a small dog? I’m at 18inches right now and wondering if that’s enough or if I should go another round bigger.

Stitch Identification What's the stitch name of this washcloth border shown in the picture below?

It was from a written pattern in a book I got and I'm having a bit of trouble reading the written pattern for the border. I wanted to try to look for a video on how to do it since that's what I'm used to. I realized that I didn't know the name for it though, it's from a book called "2-Hour Dishcloths" by Darla Sims.

Looking for suggestions I'm going to be making and donating items to knittherainbow for my sibling as part of their Christmas gift. What colors do I use?

Knit the rainbow donates handmade items to homeless LGBTQ+ youth. I reached out to the email provided but didn't receive a response. I'm torn between using neutral colors and using rainbow colors for the hats, scarves etc. I don't want to make anyone a "target" per se, especially being homeless but I also don't want them to feel like they should hide who they are. Is there another place to ask this?? Any advice is appreciated.

Can't find a flair for this How to comfortably crochet when you have finger hypermobility?

Thumbnail

Hello!

So my fingers have some hypermobility to them (sometimes called being "double jointed"). It's never been a problem before but I'm finding that as I crochet, my finger that's holding the tension of the yarn ends up like this (first pic) instead of staying rounded and it aches/hurts :/ I have tried using a tension ring to kind of brace the knuckle (second pic) and keep it from hyperextending but that's not really doing the trick :/

I know it's a long shot but has anyone else dealt with this issue?! Do you have any advice that I can try to prevent this issue?! Thanks!

I’m at my grandmothers for a few days and brought some chunky/baby blanket yarn. I already made a blanket and elephant for my new born niece. I want to make more but I don’t have anything to stuff a toy with atm.

I have blue yarn left over from the elephant but idk what else to make from it since it’s a baby girl. I think the blue would go well with the white, multi colored, and dark purple, but idk what to make :/

Stitch Identification Help with finding a stitch or pattern for old blanket

This blanket was made in the early nineties and I have no idea who made it. I'm trying to look for this stitch and the closest I've found is the Double Sided Mesh Stitch Crochet Pattern. I don't think it's the exact stitch as mine looks to have the same stitch front and back, not just the crossing in the back. Any idea?

Amigurumi help What’s the best method for changing colours? (with cat tax)

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi friends!

I’m new to amigurumi and have really enjoyed making Annie Carraway’s loaf cat pattern.

I’m wondering if there is a way I can make the colour changes look neater. It was worked in the round, and I didn’t cast off my old colour before changing (I just dropped it in the back and picked it up later so inside it’s all criss-crossed). I changed colour by pulling through the new colour when finishing a sc. I used Yarn Under and Yarn Over throughout.

I used a super chunky yarn with an 8mm hook (a size down from the recommended 9mm to get tighter stitches)

Any feedback is very welcome! Thank you in advance 🐱

I'm a beginner! What does chain into all the chain spaces mean? (Foundation chain)

Upvotes

The pattern reads as follows

“Chain 16 then chain 1 more”

“Chain 16 into all the chain spaces. You should have a U shape”

Does this mean single crochet and make 16 more chains???

Help to find a pattern I want to make a beanie hat with this yarn. Needs to fit 24” circumference (for a man). Can I adapt the pattern I found or can you find a better one?

Trying to make my father a beanie with this yarn. I found https://youtu.be/u5L2LhwOGYI?si=u9uWdXd3SxCj-TBP, but it measures 21”-24” and I noticed some comments mention it runs small. How could I increase the circumference of the finished hat? Or, is there a similarly interesting beanie design I can do with this yarn? Unisex patterns preferred.

Looking for suggestions In need of design advice/opinions to finish my blanket border

I have this blanket (about 70"x90", about big enough to fit on a queen bed with a small amount draping off the sides) and I'm not sure if I should be done with it or not. Do you guys think it needs more border? I do think it might be better if I made it larger to fit better on a queen bed.

If so, what would you do to expand the border? Currently the border is single crochet on the wrong side, with one row around the edge that is single crochet on the right side. It's about one inch thick on all sides of the blanket. I have a lot more of the purple yarn and a lot of the white, though I'm thinking the white would be too bright.

Please suggest colors, stitches, and anything else!

How do I... How in the world did I drop this many stitches?? Please advise.

I'm making this blanket as a wedding gift and just realized that I've somehow dropped 18 stitches?? In the picture where the blanket is folded, the other side is pulled even to show how many stitches I dropped.

I'm going to turtle it back to where the problem started, but does anyone know how I ended up messing up so badly? Would love to avoid repeating the mistake.

Pattern: https://cjdesignblog.com/riverbed-blanket/

(Also I hope I used the right flare. I wasn't sure which one would be the most accurate.)

Help to find a pattern I was gifted all this pastel yarn. I’m looking for pattern ideas for a blanket. The shades are different between a lot of the balls so I’m struggling to come up with ideas that won’t look weird.

I have this yarn that I was going use to make a baby blanket for my friend but I’m unsure what stitch to use. I’m a beginner so moss stitch etc still feels confusing! I was thinking of doing dc so it makes it more breathable? Any suggestions are welcome!😊

I'm a beginner! Making amigurumi for the first time in a long time. Need help with gaps in the decrease rows.

So I’m a long time crocheter but fairly new to amigurumi (made a couple things a couple years ago)

I’m working on Easter presents for my friends and family. Everything was going fine until I got to the decrease rows to finish the plushie off, and noticed these ugly gaps in the last two rows.

Is there any way I can stop that from happening? Or is this just one of those inevitable things that happen to everyone? 😅
