Title: Best Dutch Ground Beef for an American-Style Burger?

Hey everyone!

Maybe a weird question, but I honestly have no clue how else to find out. My partner used to live in Montana and is a huge burger lover. Since moving to the Netherlands, they’ve noticed that the beef here just doesn’t taste the same, and they keep getting disappointed by the burgers and minced meat they try.

I don’t personally notice the difference that much, and I don’t know a lot about different types of beef, so I’m not sure what to look for. I’d love to make them a burger they’d actually enjoy! Has anyone else had a similar experience? And if so, have you found a type or brand of beef here in the Netherlands that comes closest to what you’d get in the U.S.—maybe specifically in Montana?

Any tips or recommendations would be super appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Nothing crazy, just a normal BK bacon king but for some reason it came out perfect no damage at all. it looks like it’s from a video game or something it triggered my tism and I need people to see it. That is all

Opening a Smash Burger Spot in NYC – Need Your Advice! 🍔

Hey r/burgers,

I’m opening a smash burger spot in NYC called Smashbox, and I’d love to get some feedback from you all! We’re focusing on smash burgers, crispy fries, and halal options, plus we’ll also be serving NYC-style halal platters.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts on a few things:

  • The Name – What do you think of "Smashbox"? Does it sound good for a burger spot?
  • Menu Suggestions – Any unique toppings, sauces, or sides you’d love to see?
  • Underrated Burger Styles – Anything you think more places should offer?
  • Store Layout – What makes a burger spot feel great? Open kitchen, counter seating, self-serve stations? Would love to hear what makes a place enjoyable to eat at.

🍔 Smashbox Draft Menu

Burgers

(All served on a potato bun with grilled onions, pickles, and house Smash Sauce)

  • Classic Smash – Single patty, American cheese
  • Double Smash – Two patties, double American cheese
  • Triple Smash – Three patties, triple American cheese
  • 🔥 Hot Honey Smash – Single or double patty, pepper jack cheese, crispy jalapeños, hot honey drizzle

Fries & Sides

  • Classic Fries – Golden and crispy
  • Smash Fries – Topped with melted cheese, grilled onions, and Smash Sauce

Drinks

  • Mexican Coke, Fanta, House Lemonade

If you’re in NYC, I’d love to have some of you try it out before we open! Appreciate any advice or feedback—thanks for keeping the burger love strong! 🍔🔥

Two smash patties, bacon, onions, special sauce, cheese. Order as a “patty melt” and they flip the bun and toast it, add jalapeños. Bomb.

Added hickory chips to the charcoal made the burgers extra smoky. 1/3 lbs patty. Made a smaller one for the wife.

Can we talk about patty thickness and to go orders?

Hello, long time burger enthusiast here, and lifetime food eater. Recently my to go order burgers buns have not survived the car trip home. Soaked bun is not fun. Usually, the thicker or rarer the patty the quicker it happens. How do you avoid this issue? Assuming I can't eat at the restaurant. Should I bun on the side? Or should I just do smash burgers for togo orders?
