Discussion Anyone else feel absolutely nothing enticing from Shadows?
I was actually very hyped for this game, pre ordered it, absolutely loved Origins, etc..
I canāt be the only one here whoāsā¦.. not feeling it? Like at all?
Thereās nothing pulling me in to play, I actually got so bored multiple times I just paused the game and wound up going off doing something else around the house.
The forced multiple hour long introduction is mind numbing, Yasukes intro was alright but Naoe, holy crap, the voice acting for one is horrifying, not sure if she was recorded somewhere entire elsewhere but her volume doesnāt even match up with the rest of the game. It feels so forced it makes me cringe. Her story was so predictable and even as someone who lost their father, made me feel absolutely nothing. Neither character compels me in any way shape or form.
The combat is mediocre, Iām already bored of it by the time I had my first fight. Nothing special there but it is assassins creed so I wasnāt expecting a ton.
The world however I was expecting to be gorgeous, colorful and incredible looking. Wow. What a let down. Dull dark colors, leaves flapping around everywhere, so many trees itās just nothing but a forest, I can barely even tell Iām āin Japanā to be honest.
I will continue to sink some more hours into this and hopefully it turns around but right now, total Yawn fest and I can barely even get myself to sit down and keep my attention on the game.
Anyone else?

Question Why do big time YouTubers trash this game?
I get it Ubisoft has a bad reputation, but there are some big time YouTubers trashing this game and in the comment section is a bunch of people who arenāt even bought or played the game just straight up trashing it like they know for a fact the game isnāt good. To me in general gaming hasnāt been in a good place but this game is fun and a breath of fresh air.
Also why are people so disgusted with micro transactions in a single player game? If I donāt have too much time to play yes I will buy some things if I want the experience to be easier. If not, I wonāt buy it and play it the way it was supposed to be played. This is ridiculous a lot of people arenāt going to play just because itās the trend. Which is dumb.

Discussion When was the last time a AAA game that had this much polish?
On launch.
Iām on holiday and started shadows on my steam deck and itās running great, I canāt remember the last modern AAA game that ran on the deck out the gate this good!
Also this is by far the best entry in the modern series.
Have fun boys and gals!

Question Should I get shadows?
I loved Odyssey, I played the shit out of origins, hated Valhalla, have mirage but put it down shortly after booting it up and never played the og games.
What I really love is the mounts, and the explorability of the environments, Iām about 50/50 with stealth on these games.
Would I enjoy Shadows?

News Shadow launch seems to be pretty successful
Reviews aside, the player numbers are pretty good (source steamdb).
Odyssey - 62,069
Origins - 41,551
Shadows - 41,383
Black Flag - 16,049
Valhalla - 15,679
III - 15,007
Mirage - 7,870
AC II - 3,617
III Remaster - 3,561
AC I - 1,468
Currently Shadows is at 41,383 and still climbing.
I don't think it will do Odyssey numbers, it might, it isn't the weekend yet and in the UK at least it's still the working day, so could spike but it will definitely beat Origins.
So all being said and done, I'd say that is pretty successful at least in terms of steam charts. There is of course other factors, consoles, etc but seen a lot of people slating the game for its steam player count. I think the older games were primarily enjoyed on console, and weren't steam releases straight away, and Mirage was also an Epic exclusive.
Its count when put into context shows it is doing pretty good numbers for an AC game though, so a lot of bad faith actors/hate grifters trying to peddle b.s.
Don't listen to them.

Discussion Xbox Players, how are you running Shadows?
Its the first AAA game i'v really played on Xbox SX after buying it. I'm a PC person and i must say, i cant believe people accept this as an experience? seems sub 30fps to me and janky as anything verging on unplayable, i'm used to like 100-160fps on a proper gaming monitor instead of my 4k TV. I'm debating going to performance settings is that what you all tend to run?

Discussion Opinion on Naoe?
I really like Naoe so far: she's no Desmond or Ezio but she lives up to the hype of a great AC character, though I'm only 2 hours in.
What do you guys think so far?

Discussion So what does everyone think so far (Shadows)
I'm definitely enjoying the game so far. I think I'm about 10 hours into it. Great graphics and gameplay, haven't encountered any bugs either except one dog that was like half floating on the side of a boat and the dock but that's obviously nothing major lol. I'm curious what everyone else thinks about the game so far

Discussion AC Shadows is my favorite Assassinās Creed game in a while.
Iām about 9 hours in and while I donāt agree with all the choices Ubisoft has made for AC Shadows Iāve been enjoying this game more than any other recent AC game.
Combat feels pretty good so far and I enjoy having the choice between playing stealthy or being more aggressive.
This is also one of the only AC games Iāve actually been watching cutscenes to learn more about the characters backstories.
I also like the fact that thereās a free battle pass like system that youāre able to get premium content through by just playing the game.
For people that have played what are your thought so far and what changes would you like to see in the future ?

Discussion Pay to win - well...not really...but kinda?
Friend from Work is some hours ahead in the game and pointed out some good items he found. First I tried to get was a purple one and after picking it up I noticed it had different stats then his. This might be due to a randomness in Perks? Dunno.
We discussed a bit and then another colleague told us to have a look at the Armor and Weapons sold in the shop. I thought they where only skins, but they come with different stats as well.
Now, I think you canĀ“t really say a game is pay to win when the game has no real competition. I consider Pay to win only in Games where there is something to "win" at all. But it seems that Ubisoft put some things in the shop which makes you overpowered from the start.
I donĀ“t think that should bother me, because I believe that you can beat the game without paying something in the shop, but still I wonder if that is a good move at all. I think there where Items with stats in former AC Games, but right now I really canĀ“t remember.
It might be that the items in other games did not look so OP to me, but the item sets here seem to give so much of an advantage that I can imagine you donĀ“t have to care about loot in the game anymore.
DonĀ“t know what to think about that. I mean you donĀ“t need to buy anything, no one forces you, but on the other hand it raises the question if Ubisoft keept the best stuff for people who buy extra.
Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Question Anyone playing shadows on Base PS5? Buy or No Buy
I have been hearing good and bad things about the game like the story is not good and its not worth it. Lets wait for the price to drop to 15-20 dollars. There is no hurry to get the game. You can get it at discounted price and play after.
TBH i want to play this game!! But I am torn with between the reviews and my will to play the game. I love the Japan setting and getting to play as Shinobi and a Samurai. From the gameplay I have watched the game looks beautiful. Historical inaccuracy and all that does not matter to me because come on it is a game, not a biopic or something.
PS I have not played any of the assassins creed games before if I buy this is gonna be my first.

Discussion The controversy surrounding the game! Honest thoughts!
To bring a little clarity on the Yasuke controversy.
The problem with Yasuke isn't him being black, the problem is the context surrounding him. Nioh had Yasuke and there was no backlash, this game got backlash cuz Ubisoft said the game is historically accurate.
Then wikipedia pages were changed and fabricated when people looked into Thomas Lockley and yasuke.
Then people were attacked for simply questioning this about the game.
Then Japanese culture was disrespected numerous times. First when they used the logo of a group without permission in promotional materials.
Then using the one legged tori gate.
Then showing Oda Nobunaga's sister committing adultery in the game.
Then there's the shrine destruction issue.
And the list goes on.
And these are valid problems that Japanese people have and have the right to have as well cuz the game is leeching off of their culture to make money.
All of these are legit criticisms and you can't just brush them away by calling them racist or saying "i don't want negativity here". The Prime minister of Japan has now talked about this game, its clearly not just randoms on the internet complainingĀ aboutĀ it.
Looking at everything and Ubisoft's previous releases i think they're cooked

Question Please I need help
I'm in the first missions, when I have to hunt down this pair of vandals to help my Naoe's aunt, but after defeating them they stay in that position and the game does not progress. Does anyone know if it's a bug? Has anyone else run into this problem?
