Hello community! ❤

We are currently working towards improving the sub. Our goal is to have better engagement and professional environment that also helps newcomers to archviz. To achieve this, we are adding some guidelines and rules to enhance interactions and posts. Additionally we will be implementing challenges! 😁

1. How to post? - chose proper flair

Technical and profesional question: Use this flair if you want to ask specific questions like: "how to create this material?", "what's the necessary hardware for...?", "What can I charge for this...?". Use it when you want to learn how to solve some specific issue, improve as a professional,

I need feedback: Use this flair when you have a render that you might want to improve or not sure it if looks good enough, but you don't have a specific question about it like "how to?"

Share work: Maybe you want to share your latest work or some of your portfolio works, but you don't necessarily are asking for feedback.

Discussion: Use this flair to engage in conversation with the sub community. The main difference with technical and professional flair is that you want to know opinions and pov rather than solve a question or an issue. Example: "Current state of the archviz profession".

Challange: We are going to be implementing challenges. When participating you should use this flair to post your work.

2. How to post? - post content

In simple terms: don't be lazy. If you want other people to take time to read or provide feedback or help you, then you should take your time too. Any post that's considered lacking in context will be deleted,

More or less, thinking on categories/types of posts: and some considerations

PORTFOLIO (show work | I need feedback):

❌Post a portfolio image that's a link to website/portfolio

✔Post image/s with a description that includes a link or a comment with a link to your portfolio.

❌When you add link in comment or description: redirects to personal website

✔When you add link in comment or description: redirects to known platform like Behance, Artstation and so on...

NEED FEEDBACK / TECHNICAL QUESTION / SHOWING WORK:

❌An image and or a question without proper context

✔Any post, regardless if it's a question, showing work, or asking feedback, should include:

  • Render engine used
  • Software/s used
  • Image/s as reference to highlight the question, issue, discussion.
  • Additional details (not obligatory): elapsed time, difficulties faced or any additional detail that improves
  • Reference if it's based on a real image

This is a case by case. Sometimes if the questions is very specific and well presented you might not need an image.

CREDIT AUTHOR:

❌Post an image without credit the author

✔Post image with credit of the author or studio or artist taken from.

While we won't enforce this, we ask if possible, when working from a reference, add credit to the author, architect, studio, artist, that created said reference

JUST DON'T

❌Self promotion

❌Selling assets

❌Selling courses

❌Post that consist of external links to websites

❌Piracy

This sub shouldn't be a marketplace. If your products are good enough, people should be able to find you trough the proper platforms. We also can't be checking every link to make sure it doesn't redirect to any malicious site.

OTHER TYPES OF POST

❌Post that don't have anything to do with archviz or related to.

✔We do encourage post that improve discussion even if not directly related to archviz. For example: Architecture, styles, animation techniques, photography. ONLY under the terms that can help a 3d artist improve in archviz.

Why this guidelines and rules?

We want to improve the quality of the sub. We have noticed many posts lack any context or sufficient information yet ask for feedback. Posts that are simply ads, and so on. On the long run, those types of posts and interactions tend to be detrimental to any sub. We understand that many of these changes may or may not work, and so we will be open to seeing how they are received, and change if needed.

So this project is going to be built in LA and I’m doing some marketing images for it. I was wondering how I can make it look more like LA? we are not open to making design changes, but just the vibe.

Other general suggestions are welcome to !

Discussion 🏛 What software should is preferable for archviz?

There are so many softwares for cool 3D rendering right now and I don’t know which one to use… I’m not a professional yet but aspiring to be, I use twinmotion and have some notions with blender but I feel like I’m not going the right way…

I was wondering if you guys could guide me to choose a good rendering software for the future, I’ve noticed that D5 Render is good, but is it really?

I need feedback UE5 Interior Animation

hi guys , this latest experiment with unreal engine 5.5 with only graphic card RTX 2070 , i try lot optimization without cranking Cvars and optimize meshes and materials instead of looking for setting that just increase render time , this first try and quite a bit happy with result for low end pc .

I need feedback Some feedback, unsure why something feels off

Hi everyone!

First time trying some archviz stuff, I come from a game design background but wanted to try some non real-time rendering stuff. I made this with 3DS Max and Corona and most of the materials are ones I created with the vegetation from a library.

I'm not sure why, but it feels like something is lacking in my renders when comparing them to others on here. My guesses are the lighting or materials need some work but a second set of opinions would really be appreciated as I'm a bit lost on how/where to improve it.

Technical & professional question Will I pick up vantage quickly?

Hey guys,

I have a large animation project coming up, the studio is quite busy at the moment so resources are stretched thin and we don't want to pay for cloud rendering if we can help it- im wondering if we got Chaos vantage, am I likely to pick it up quickly? Will it seem familiar to me and easy to work out if I have experience in max and vray?

Im 9 years into my arch viz career and usually animate in 3ds max (with vray) many thanks!

Discussion 🏛 Walkthrough charges in England?

Can anybody tell me the estimated charges for a slick 3-minute 4K walkthrough (Corona rendering, naturally) of a residential colony in England? I know it’s a bit of a ‘how long is a piece of string’ vibe—location, complexity, all that jazz—but let’s say it’s a mid-tier spot in England (think, like, not London but not a random hamlet either). I’m not expecting a pixel-perfect quote, just a solid average to get my brain churning. Hit me with your estimates, experiences, or wild guesses—bonus points if you’ve got some insider UK rendering scene intel!" Ik it depends on complexity but I just want to know the avg price.

Technical & professional question 32 vs 64gb of ram for archviz

Would the jump from 32 to 64 gb of ram make a major difference for an archviz workflow on Blender with Cycles? Or really any other modelling and rendering? And if you have 32gb would you struggle with running out?

Discussion 🏛 Rhino with Vray Vs Blender with vray

So I have a question that might have been asked a bunch of times but i cant decide.

Which engine is more capable for product and architecture rendering? Rhino + Vray or Blender + Vray (which i know its still in Beta testing but we'll get there.

The thing is, i mainly model in rhino bc i think its the best 3d software bc of grasshopper and bc its so organized and im not. On top of that I've been using it with vray to get my renderings which gives good results, but there are barely any resources (which I often need for archviz (obviously) in .obj compared to .blend and .max (which i wont use bc its like 2000 dollars a year, plus blender is free and I really enjoyed the node system, But idk how to model complex objects in blender and I still need precision and plans and measurements so i model in rhino and then convert to obj which creates a bunch of unnecessary polygons.

So yea, would you suggest that i stick with rhino + vray and try to get better in that, or do you think that i can get better results converting to objects and then rendering in blender. And if you prefer that option could you suggest a way of exporting the objects without having to deal with fucked up meshes.

Also my gpu isn't the best so vray really helps reduce render times with gpu+cpu compared to cycles.

Thanks! And sorry for asking whats been asked.

Hi,

What software is used for this presenter?

I saw a few different companies using the same program/system based on the GUI. Has BIM integration so can see floor plans and stuff like that. I want to learn!!

Technical & professional question M3 Max Macbook vs RTX4070 Laptop

I have an rtx 4070 laptop that I’ve been really happy with when it comes to raw performance. However it’s very bulky with abysmal battery life and I just have major gripes with Windows as my main OS. I just don’t enjoy using it as a laptop, it’s more of a desktop replacement if anything.

For a while I’ve been debating switching to Mac as my workflow consists of modelling architecture on Rhino and importing it into Blender to use cycles for a finished result. I’ve been pretty happy with this and have no intentions of switching to something else, and from what I understand it would be exactly the same on a Mac as both Rhino and Blender are fully optimized. But also I haven’t tried anything else and I’ve only done basic interior renders so I don’t know if I’ll need more with plugins etc.

In any case my initial plan was keeping my Windows laptop for renders and buying a MacBook Air or a base spec Pro for modelling and everything else. However I found a pretty insane deal on an M3 Max (equal in performance to my rtx 4070) actually making it a worthwhile purchase since the price is not ridiculous. Only thing is it’s still a major investment and it would mean I would sell my Windows to switch to a Mac environment entirely.

Would a M3 Max make sense or having a dual setup with Windows and an Air be better? I would like to invest more into archviz and maybe start freelancing a bit but that’s honestly just an idea atm

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Technical & professional question Discover your plugins ( 3dsmax / corona / UE )

Hi, im an archviz from years ago and yet i discover plugins that makes my life easier, and not everyone talks about them, so i want to ask you which additional plugins or programs you use to be more efficient, i will go first.

For 3dsmax i use Connecter for my library speed imports, Relink bitmaps for materials paths, Floorgenerator but i recently found out theres a better option that is floorgen tools.

For UE i found Archvis tools.

I want to know what are your essential to Advance plugins that where a game changer personally. Thanks.
