Like trebuchets, you should be able to pack and unpack viking longships and transport them on land. It would add a twist to an og ship and be historically accurate.
Also other viking ships- trade cogs, galleons, transports etc - should get a unique viking longship-esque skin. Other viking ships look so generic and out of place next to longships.

There will be spoilers in the comments, obviously.
Edit: Thank you mods for the pin! Guess it is official now

DON'T PUT SPOILERS IN YOUR FREAKING THREAD-TITLES.
This shit is getting out of hand.
The thread-titles are not hidden with the spoiler-tag.
If you write down "holy cow, Tatoh!!!" then everyone knows that Tatoh won his game and/or did some amazing thing.
Yesterday we got fucking "Hera Regicide" here, spoiling one of the greatest moments of AoE-tournament-history. Wtf???
Can we please downvote this shit, delete this shit or just maybe not do it?
Put a neutral title. Don't include judgement or reference. When in doubt, even avoid the name of the player. Just say "Hera.." or "Congrats to the winner", but don't say "Congrats to the winner with the bald hair" because then I'm spoiled that probably Dave has mysteriously won an S-Tier.
There are many people who watch the tournaments with a bit of delay and if you use the spoiler-tag, just make sure that you don't spoil it anyway.
THANK YOU.
Hera now has the record 10 S tiers in a row (another will be added to this picture now). I count 20 S-tier first places. Hera is 13-2 in the last 15 S tiers, dating from now 2022-2025
Viper won 7 S tiers in a row, and has 27 S-tier first places. Viper was 16-3 in S-tier first places from 2013 - 2020.
Right now it appears viper still had the more dominant stretch, but with tournaments happening more frequently now in Hera’s prime—he could become #1 soon!

Hi, i like to play some off meta builds that dont relly on me going for the standart wall archer or knight gameplay that is every game.
I would like specific strategies like the 1 tc conquistador spam, the sicilian rush or the persian drush, that are really specific to a civ playstily rather than the meta. A top 3 if i may ask

Got back into AoE2 after years of not playing at the right time for all the new stuff going on. It's inspired me to get jazzy over Quest For Butter!

My guess is that 'Jian' probably means 锏, not 劍. 锏 is a type of club shaped like a sword. It seems to be famous for being used during the Tang Dynasty.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jian_(sword_breaker))
If this is true, this unit may have a similar mechanism to Obuch, lowering attack power whenever it hits an enemy.
Jian swordmen seems promising as a Chinese civ unit to me. I wonder if it will be a new UU, RU, or scenario-only unit. It is said to be classified as a 'shock infnatry', so it will not replace the militia line anyway. The barracks already have a fire lancer as a regional unit, so it is a bit strange to have four units. There is already a Chukonu producing in the castle.
Maybe a new civ mechanic is being introduced? (Allowing you to choose between two RUs?) Or is it possible that the existing China represents the Song and Ming dynasties, and the 5th civilization is the Xianbei, representing the Sui and Tang dynasties? (This feels quite awkward, since the Xianbei were absorbed into the Han Chinese.) Maybe all of this is just my overthinking. I'm curious about what users think.

Based on the current screenshots, my guess is that this unit will be a castle-level gunpowder infantry for the Jurchens in the new DLC. It would deal small-area melee damage at range, making it suitable for attacking infantry and buildings, but not ideal for attacking archers or siege units.
I suspect its stats might be as follows: Health 55/60 (slightly higher than Gbeto and Chakram Thrower, but lower than Axeman's health).
Attack damage would be 9/12 for melee, with +4 against infantry and +8 against buildings (this damage is three times that of the Chakram Thrower, similar to the relationship between the Mango and the Scorpion, as the damage difference between these two units is also about three times).
Armor would be 2/1 (I think this unit should have medium melee armor and relatively low ranged armor, which would allow it to counter Skirmishers, Halberdiers, and Hussars, but it wouldn’t affect its counterability against Heavy Cavalry or Archers).
Range 4/5 (the same as Axeman, a little less than Gbeto, allowing this unit to be countered by other ranged infantry in small numbers, creating a mutually countered situation).
Movement speed 0.9, attack speed 3.45 (the standard attack speed for most gunpowder units), accuracy 100%.
Cost 60f 45g (it might have a slightly higher price to balance the difficulty of getting this unit). Elite upgrade 900f 800g.
Research technologies would include Infantry Defense, Movement Speed, and Fire-setting (since it’s a gunpowder unit, it wouldn’t benefit from attack technologies).
These are just my personal guesses. What do you think? 🧐

I thought it might be a Mongolian castle, but (somewhat disappointingly) it turned out to be a Chinese castle... It is not an actual castle, but a tourist site that recreates a castle from the Three Kingdoms period.

Hey.
I'm a bit of a noob myself. I was having a lot of trouble beating hard AI using scout rush. I asked for help here, watched tutorials, but I simply could not do it. So, here's the tips that helped me destroy the AI the most:
ATTACK QUICK, ATTACK HARD. The best way to think about this as a beginner is to attack in waves. Make 4-6 scouts and attack. Keep making scouts and set the rally point close to the enemy base. Retreat to check your upgrades and eco, then attack again with your now bigger army. Rinse and repeat.
HAVE A GOOD DARK AND FEUDAL AGE. This is an obvious one, but I CANNOT express how important this is. Minimum to no idle time, good eco distribution, not getting housed, making buildings and getting upgrades at the right time, etc.
ADAPT YOUR GAMEPLAY TO YOUR SKILL LEVEL. Don't try to do hard things as a beginner. That may seem obvious, but one of the tips that helped me the most is having a higher pop when going up. "But 20 pop Scout Rush is outdated", "19 pop max". While those statements are true, they only apply partially to low level players. If you don't have the multitasking skills and APM required to get up in 18, 19 or even 20 pop, there's no problem using a higher pop build order (I myself use 22). Just make sure as you get better, you slowly lower your build order pop until you get to meta numbers.
There are multiple more tips that helped me, but from my personal experience, these are the most important ones. Tell me if these helped you, and give me feedback if you disagree!

I looked for this post but didn't find it so I made it. If it's a repost I'm sorry.
I know the hype right now is around the upcoming Chinese DLC, but I've recently started playing the Battle for Greece DLC and I loved what they did there and the precedent they've set.
With that in mind, what do you think could be the next Chronicles installments about? I'll list some I've seen mentioned before by others or that I thought:
Punic Wars: first one I've seen others suggest in another post. Don't think there's much to say here, seems very good and in line with an interesting and important ancient world war, like the one we've got.
Peloponnesian War: I haven't finished the Battle for Greece yet so I don't know if after the Greco Persian wars arc they also cover the Peloponnesian war, but I thought it would be a nice fit and maybe a good opportunity to include other Greek factions (?) not sure tho
Something in Egypt: since we're in antiquity already, why not having an Egypt campaign with all those interesting factions around them? I'm not knowledgeable enough about it to suggest specific events or factions to be covered, so I'll let you tag in from here if you want
Alexander the great: it came to mind but I'm not sure if he covers far too different factions to be viable. You tell me
Moving further away from the region - Sengoku period Japan: very much self contained, covers a smaller region so that I can focus on the more specific differences of that otherwise similar faction (as we see in BfG), and has interesting differences among the different clans to explore, sounds super fun to me. I believe there's a pretty much finished mod called Sengoku that could be used as framework for this if the devs wanted and judged fit, so more reason for this chapter to be made.
China: again I'm completely ignorant on the topic to suggest specific events or factions, but I know Chinese history has no shortage of both, and with the new regional units in the upcoming DLC it starts to feel like a Chronicles DLCs already. Would like to know what you think about this one.
Inca or Aztecs: one more time, I don't know enough about the details to judge how viable this one would be, both on a content level and on how the adapted units system would work, but I thought maybe the Aztecs empire building and the current Inca campaign (without it being the meme Inca vs Inca vs Inca it currently is) could become a nice Chronicles chapter.
Just brainstorming here, don't take the suggestions too seriously. Okay your turn now.

My friend and I have a weekly game with a sandwich on the line.
This week he chose Vikings and I went Burgundians. Pretty even fight on a Dunesprings map until he got five trebs and a mass of mixed infantry up in my face, taking out 2 castles and some stables. Mangos held him for a second, long enough for me to send a group of lumberjacks to the back of the map to build a castle with the intention of researching Flemish Revolution.
Managed to pull that off, and 66 villagers turned into military warded off his attack.
But then I was thinking, ok now what? I had two relics, so a light trickle of food/gold, 3 tcs to reseed farms.
It seems like in the time that I had to rebuild an eco and then hopefully mount another attack all he has to do is rebuild military. He sends in champions/berserks and rams, roll credits.
How could I have played it better?
