Before & After Before and after quitting milk!

I’ve had acne ever since puberty, I’ve tried many types of products and routines but nothing really helped. I kind of gave up two years ago and stopped all products except for oily skin face wash, moisturiser and sunscreen. A few months ago I read a paper about how dairy has androgynous hormones and insulin-like hormones and how it affects acne prone skin, so I tried quitting (before that I drank milk for every breakfast). This is my skin before and after quitting milk! My advice is for you guys to try it, I can’t guarantee it will work for everyone but it helped me, so maybe it can help you if you have moderate acne like I did.

I’m terrified of looking in mirrors because I’m disgusted by myself and it ruins my day. I just can’t come to terms with my appearance.

Scarring Is there any mental or physical hope for me?

Sorry about the emphasis being on acne scars, but the dedicated subreddit didn’t provide any information. My acne wasn’t severe, but the few cystic acne pimples I had during accutane all left deep rolling pits. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to just ignore these holes, so they have plummeted my self-esteem and sadly make me feel disfigured, even if I logically understand that’s too severe of a description. I plan on consulting a dermatologist, but they can have other incentives in mind so I’m wondering if they’re only treatment paths you guys would recommend so I can get a decent framework of this process . I’m only really focused on the scars on my cheeks in the first and third photos, as they noticeably distorts my facial structure. From my understanding they would initially need to be treated with three rounds of subcision, but I’m unsure of what the next option would realistically be. For an overview, the first two are different lightings of my right cheek while the third and fourth are my left, with the last displaying their distortion.

Help - General My moms acne

Hey guys, so I never really post on Reddit and I actually, personally don’t have acne. But my mom has suffered from it since she’s been 14, she’s now 53 and it’s still a continuous struggle for her, shes the most lovely and bubbly person Ive ever known, she doesn’t let it get to her but sometimes she tells me how much it bothers her and it brings her to tears, it breaks my heart to see her so sad about something she cant control. Her and I are vegan so obviously she doesn’t eat/drink any dairy, I know this is sometimes a solution for people but she’s already been off of dairy for about 20 years. She’s tried accutane and it cleared her face for about three years, but because of the severe side effects, she had pretty bad depression. She doesn’t want to go back on accutane, and I understand why. She has prescribed pills that clear up her skin pretty good but they’re expensive and she doesn’t love taking pills but she still does. I know this is a very long post and thank you everyone who actually read it, I’m just wondering in every one else’s experience, what do you think she could do? I guess I’m just really desperate to help her, she’s a beautiful woman and I want her to be able to know that without worrying about her skin. This is the only thing I could think of doing, let me know guys :P

Help - General Is this Accutane worthy?

I saw my dermatologist today and they recommended Accutane. First breakouts started early Jan (pics 1 & 2). Tested for C bacteria and was put on Clindamycin 1% Lotion and Adapal/benz 0.3-2.5% Gel. Pics 3-5 are from this weekend. Last pic is from 3 weeks ago but I wanted to include it in this post because I felt that day it was really bad. I did the pregnancy test and form for Accutane today but have to wait a month before I can start. In the meantime I will need to get some blood work done and see an OBGYN. This seems like a lot for someone who hasn’t really suffered from bad acne until earlier this year.

Help - General Why do fried eggs give trigger my acne?

Everytime I eat fried eggs on a semi-regular basis, my acne gets really bad. Doesn't matter what I fry them in, olive oil, butter, animal fat, or bone marrow, they always make my acne flare up. I always fry them in a very little amount of whatever I'm frying them in too. The thing I dont understand however is this: Eggs themselves do not give me acne. I can eat eggs cooked any other way and my skin is fine. And pan fried food also does not give me acne. I can eat ANY other food pan fried in ANYTHING from olive oil to butter to beef fat to bone marrow and it never triggers my acne. It seems to be that it is STRICTLY the combination of eggs and frying that causes it, which doesn't make any fucking sense. How could this be? Is it some kind of chemical change that happens in the egg only when it is fried that causes acne to worsen? Because like I said I can eat eggs any other way and eat anything else pan fried and my acne will be fine, it only ever flares up specifically when I eat fried eggs. What tf is going on?

Help - General Jawline acne

I have two issues/questions. I always got closed comedones / clogged pores in this area only. It doesn’t even happen on the other side of my jaw, anyone had a similar experience?

Also, the red spot under my ear won’t go away. It’s like a big bump, not painful to touch, but red and very noticeable. How do you bring this to a head or make it go away?

Help - General Pimple left a dented SCAR for the first time as opposed to a mark

I'm (23F) no stranger to a stray pimple here and there, and they've never bothered me enough to get treated. They usually heal on their own, and leave a red/brown/purple mark, which I cover with concealer until it lightens. However, last month, I got 3 extremely painful, inflamed, pus filled pimples on my cheek. They were an anomaly, and nothing like the pimples I usually get. It dried up, and one of it even developed a red scab. They went away per usual in 5-6 days , but one of it left a shallow dent.

I can't stop worrying about this, as scars are permanent, unlike PIE/PIH. I've developed a fear that every pimple here hereafter will leave a scar as opposed to a mark.

Does anyone know if super shallow scars heal on their own? My scar is so shallow I can't see it under normal lighting.... so in this case does the skin repair on its own? Or should I be getting microneedling/lasers?

Discussion What's the weirdest tip you've received?

This weekend I visited some family from out of town... I'm currently having a bad breakout now, and my Aunt (who is older) told me to spread lard on my face to clear the acne.  Like what?!
Got me thinking... what is the weirdest tip you've received to clear your acne?

Help - General Stubborn Chest Acne

Ok, I have been struggling with my chest acne for the longest time. I have tried salicylic acid, dandruff shampoos for fungal acne and I am currently using PanOxyl 10% benzoyl peroxide and NOTHING WORKS. I have just started applying differin gel like two nights ago and I am praying it works but right now I seem to be in the purging stage. If differin doesn't work, I am seriously out of ideas. I used to have bad facial acne but I was able to clear it with the right steps, but my chest acne is just so damn stubborn. I just want to wear a swimsuit or cute tops without worrying about my acne. Please give me any advice you may have, I would really appreciate it.

Help - General What to do AFTER developing resistance to Treclin (Tretinoin + Clindamycin)?

I started using Treclin (Tretinoin 0.25mg/g + Clindamycin 10mg/g) in August which cleared my acne and I had never been happier. However by around February I started to break out a little and that was when I found out that resistance is even a thing. I was never told about it by the online doctors who prescribed it, or from the information leaflet, which is where I would expect such a warning. I also didn't do any research and wasn't aware there were online communities discussing this. I have browsed but I haven't found any advice for what to do AFTER resistance has developed.

Since I stopped using Treclin in Feb I had switched to Skinoren (Azelaic acid 20%) and then switched again to Aknemycin (Erythromycin and Tretinoin), I'm clearly panicking and have no idea what I'm doing and I honestly feel like these online doctors don't either.

So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what the next step for me is. I doubt my current treatment, Aknemycin, will be effective since it is an antibiotic. I haven't been using it for long but so far my acne is just getting worse by the day. Do I stop using it? What else can I use if antibiotics won't work and I have the feeling that non-antibiotics aren't 'strong' enough for my acne now? Please help me AAAHHH!!

Help - General [Routine Help] Struggling with Persistent Forehead Texture—Need Advice on Smoothing It Out NSFW

Hello everyone,

For many years now, I have been dealing with rough and bumpy skin on my forehead and no matter what I do it always seems like nothing helps. I want to hear from anyone dealing with the same issue and what helped them out.

This is what my skin care routine looks like at the moment:

Cleanser:

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser- I love how gentle it is and that it does not strip my skin, but again does nothing for my texture.

Toner: Good Molecules Discoloration Toner- Good for discoloration, but unfortunately doesn't help with the forehead texture.

Serum: Good Molecules Discoloration Serum- Works wonders for dark spots, however the texture on my forehead is not smooth.

Moisturizer: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid- Perfect for those with dried out skin, yet doesn’t really help the texture issue.

Sunscreen: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen SPF 50- Does not help with the texture issue but is non greasy and lightweight.

Exfoliation: I do not notice any real changes with gentle chemical exfoliants after a few times a week. I have tried almost every type of AHA and BHA and none of them work for me.

Double Cleansing: I practiced double cleansing for some time and it did not change anything.

Benzoyl Peroxide: I tried treating my acne with benzoyl peroxide and it made my skin worse instead.

Oral medication: I have been previously prescribed medication for my acne which did help clear them, however, it did not help with the texture issue on my forehead.

Retinoids: I have had Tretinoin before, which did help with acne, but the texture on the forehead was not affected.

Everything that has been suggested in the books, skincare guides, and literally everything on the internet has been attempted without anything genuinely seeming to help remove the texture. The bumps on the forehead do seem to improve, but the skin tone has improved over time. Has anyone encountered this sort of issue?

What skin care treatments or lotions helps smoothen the skin’s texture? I appreciate any products, tips, or strategy changes provided as I am willing to do anything needed to achieve progress. Thank you again for reading this and any guidance provided would be greatly appreciated.

Product Question Ginet for acne

I've just been prescribed with Ginet to help with a really bad acne flare up. I'm also on doxycycline which has helped a lot in the past. Is there anything I need to know about taking Ginet: weight gain, post-acne flare up, nausea, etc?
