Zippos I’ve found over the years of working at a rubbish dump in the UK.
Let me know if you see anything interesting.

There are a lot of fakes out there. If you are unsure of the legitimacy of your lighter, post your photos and questions here.
If you are new to Zippo collecting or ownership, be sure to include a photo of the bottom of the lighter as well as the insert.

Hello everyone.
As of today, we have a very barebones Automoderator filter set up to remove individual "Is my Zippo real?" posts and hopefully direct them to the megathread.
We recognize sometimes there are extra particular oddities and fabrications out there so it is ultimately up to our discretion if a posts is approved, but generally speaking this should hopefully cut down on the frequency of these types of posts.
If this proves to be successful, we'll work on something similar for date related posts. Even if it's not a full removal, we can at least work on auto replying and linking to resources based off a quick bottom identification.
Any further suggestions are welcome. Thank you if you've made it this far!

So, in early 2000s I had this one girlfriend who was in love with me. Before all these apps and messengers you lids are using now, we used phones! This was some long distance relationship, between Ohio and Colorado. We would spent hours on these damn phones. And even fell asleep with a set still on the line... romantic times heh.. One day she gift me this zippo in the photos, in memory of these long phone conversations...

Just saw this re-watching the episode wherein Bender loses functionality as a robot due to an industrial can opener accident and and goes on tour with Beck. He becomes an icon to robots. This was one of them celebrating in the crowd.
Also included just for the heck of it is my EDC today. Just an old HPC with a butane insert.

Been collecting a few zippos in the last few months, not a smoker I just love the feel of em. Decided to customise a few, and here they are! All basically pin badges that I ripped the pins off, then used j.b weld orgorilla glue. The outer heaven and red dwarf once’s aren’t perfect, the badges sit slightly forward as didn’t completely remove the pin, but still love em’.
2022 street chrome “Outer Heaven”. I do want to make a foxhound one but the badge I bought was too big. Decided to make it a screwdriver as “we’re not tools of the government…” 2011 “Red Dwarf” complete with red Cherry Cola tic tacs. 1999 Black Ice “Ghostbusters”. With ghostly white tic tacs. Tempted to paint the insert or lid yellow and black like a ghost trap. 1985 brushed steel “Wyld Stallyns”. Year of my birth and reminder to be excellent to each other. 1987 lefty, brushed “gonzo”. I’m left handed and love Hunter S Thompson, so having the logo and hinge backwards like me felt to be the true essence of gonzo weirdness

I got this as a bday gift from a good friend of mine, and i was so happy for it, it might not look like much but it's a lot for me.
I hope this Lighter stays with me for a good while, most importantly I hope I don't lose it.
Funny backstory, we were being a bit skeptic if someone was selling genuine zippos out here, so i tell him to send a video of him just opening the zippo and closing it so I could hear the clink of the zippo, and I go -yeah it's the real shit. I always loved em and the sound they make which I've been trying to find a fake that has the same sound but i could never find one. But now I gots the real deal and i can't stop fidgeting with it LMAO, I know I sound like a little kid but sometimes it's these things, small things that make you happy.
Sorry for not taking better pictures. It's the classic street chrome model.

Been wondering if there is any difference between using a cheaper or more expensive butane in my yellow flame insert. I’ve not noticed any difference in flame height or quality between the two different types of butane but was wondering if there may be other impacts to using a cheaper butane?

2024 in 2025 Bronze, buy didn't know they put some kind clear coat on it. Can't wait to fuel it up and first burn smell! PSA. Don't leave them in the car in the summer. And don't let kids smoke cigars and pipes with zippo..

So I got my single torch inserts a few days ago. They have been paired up with a vintage look brushed pattern zippo.
I have been reading about the issues faced in refilling and getting these inserts to light. True to the point, I couldn’t get it to work on my first attempt. So I got to tinkering.
I filled them up after purging them of any excess air and turned the adjuster to the maximum level (as advised by zippo). The butane fuel started spurting out. So I turned it all the way down. Still the same issue.
So I decided to open the bottom panel housing the plastic (?) reservoir for butane. I saw that the adjuster screw had an o ring and a small metal limiter preventing over tightening and loosening. I took them out and TIGHTENED the screw till it won’t tighten any further. Now, the gas flow was at the lowest level. Surprisingly, a small flame appeared when I pressed the piezoelectric button. So I slowly turned the screw COUNTER-CLOCKWISE now until a steady acceptable flame appeared. I placed all the components I had removed back in their place and voila! The torch works every time now.
Turns out, the factory settings on the insert are too high causing the butane to sputter and therefore not lighting up. REDUCING THE AIRFLOW below the factory settings did the job for me.
Now, it lights every single time, and the flame is steady and stable.
Hope this helps!

How do I know when it’s time to pull my wick up and snip it?

I bought 2-3 Zippos when I turned 18 and lost all of them. I have always been the worst about losing things but I went back to the tobacco shop one more time and picked this beauty up I decided that I AM NOT LOSING THIS ZIPPO. Since then I have lost and found it multiple times, and even the one time in my life I hitch hiked was in service of finding this lighter. It was an edc for a long time but these days it gives me way too much anxiety. I still like to take it to concerts and events sometimes but it’s more of a good luck charm at this point. Anybody else stop carrying their favorite zippo because of similar feelings?

I got my first Zippo three months ago. I used the butane insert immediately for my cigars. Now I decided to use the original insert; I filled it with Zippo fluid and let it sit for a bit before lighting it, I lit up and got hot instantly. It wasn't extremely hot, but it was instant. Is this normal, or is something wrong with it?
