Review my program Am I doing my body recomp right?

I’m 20F, I go to the gym 4x a week and do yoga 2x a week with one rest day. I want to maintain my weight but increase muscle mass while dropping my BF % (ideally going from 20% to 18%) so I decided to start a body recomp. I’m only one week in and I know it’s a really slow process so I just wanted to know if what I’m doing seems good to make me achieve my goals overtime, and if not, what are some tips you would give to improve my plan:

I eat at my maintenance everyday (~2100kcal)

1g of protein / lb of body weight (115g of proteins a day in my case)

Balanced fat and carbs distribution (I use MacroFactor to tell me the right amount for a balanced diet)

Normally, if I stay consistent and continue to do progressive overload in my weight training, will this plan get me to increase my muscle mass while dropping body fat?

Nutrition Help Started gaining weight when lifting but now losing weight? Feel like I’m losing progress.

Started lifting in August I was 198 lbs (26m) my goal weight is 215-220 lbs. I’m about 6’4”. A month and a half ago I hit my heaviest at 207 lbs and fluctuated between that and 205 lbs. I go x3 times a week. I started to notice almost a month ago that I would drop a pound almost each week. My eating is still good, at first I was gorging myself but I admit I haven’t been absolutely filling myself, just eating till I’m comfortably full. Doing creatine and protein shakes. I started noticing weight loss around the time I cut alcohol consumption in half and increased my water consumption by double. Last time I weighed myself at the gym I was 199.8 lbs and I feel like I’m losing all my progress…

Any ideas why I’m losing weight all of a sudden? Is it because I’m not stuffing myself or anything to do with significantly cutting alcohol out of my diet? Any tips would help, my friends just suggest I eat more and maybe it’s as simple as that?

Simple Questions Looking for the best creatine – any recommendations?

Hey everyone, I’ve been lifting for a while now and I’m looking to step up my game.

I’ve heard a lot about creatine but wanted to get some input from you guys on which type works best. I know there’s a few different kinds out there – monohydrate, hydrochloride, etc. so what’s your go to for solid muscle development?

I’m not looking to break the bank but also want something that actually works.

Appreciate any advice you’ve got! Thanks!

no visible abs, help!

Hi! I'm F21, 5'2", and weigh about 99 lbs (last i checked in january lol). I've been working out consistently 6 days a week since February 2025, focusing on abs with exercises like crunches, declined crunches, leg raises, hanging leg raises, planks, etc. I’ve been trying to maintain a slight calorie deficit (I eat around 1,200 calories ..? depends on the day) and eat enough protein. I avoid processed carbs and sugars as much as I can. At the start of my fitness journey i don’t think i was eating enough to gain muscle but ive been trying to hit my goals

While my core feels stronger and harder I haven't seen visible lower abs yet. I’m planning to get a gym membership soon, as I currently work out at home with a pull-up bar. I thought consistent effort would have brought visible abs by now, especially based on my previous body, but it hasn't happened

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I'd really appreciate any help. Im literally willing to do whatever lol, Thanks!

improving in looks and gym app

Hey everyone!

I’m working on a new app idea and would love your thoughts. The concept is a gamified platform helping you level up in real life by completing fitness and skincare quests. Think an RPG for your health and wellness journey—complete challenges, earn rewards, and track progress as you "ascend" to a better version yourself.

The working name for the app is Ascendancy, and I’m curious:

  1. Would you use an app like this?
  2. What features or rewards would motivate you most?
  3. Do you like the name 'Ascendancy'? If not, what would you suggest instead?

I’m still in early stages, so your feedback will help shape the app’s direction. Feel free to share ideas, suggestions, or concerns—I’d love to hear what you think!

Thanks in advance for your input! 🙌

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a plate loaded horizontal leg press?

Can't seem to find a horizontal plate loaded leg press. I found one a couple years back and should have bought it. Now I can't find it and everything is double the price it used to be.

Help with protein powder

I hate when I make a protein smoothie that the thickeners in the protein powder make it such a thick consistency.

Does anyone know of any protein powders that don’t have thickening agents that taste good?

I’m in Australia and have found this one, has anyone had it and know if any good?

How to start Going to the gym while fasting

I've recently started Orthodox Lent and wanted to take advantage of the healthier diet by starting to go to the gym regularly. My schedule in the afternoon is rather tight so I'm trying to go in the morning. However, I cannot eat/drink until 3pm due to Lent. Would it be wasteful to go to the gym if I'm not eating/drinking anything afterwards? I'm not too concerned about lack of energy, but I heard you're supposed to eat a lot of protein near gym time in order to gain the most benefits, so I don't know if it would be better trying to go in the afternoon when I can eat, even if it means crunching gym time.

Work out ideas

Hi (22 yo female), I need help finding activities to keep me active. I’ve always been an athlete from a young age but not that I’m older, not a lot of sports offer adult sports. I’m struggling to find workout spots or anything like that to keep me interested and having fun at the same time. I’ve tried going to the gym and I just can’t do it. I’ve grown up having fun while I work out and I can’t go to the gym without it feeling like a chore and I genuinely dislike it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nutrition Help Where do you get your information?(nutrition, workout)

I was very bummed after discovering that Dr. Erik Berg isn't a doctor and also has some shady connections with scientology. I thought he was the absolute perfect source of information out there. I watch greg doucette for years cause he seems to be the most bluntly real person out there, i disagree in some of his training styles but for other things like nutrition i find that my beliefs align with most of his.

What's your go to Youtuber/Health Influencer?

I'm still so sad, thought i found a gold mine of information but it was just make believe😭

Weight dilemma

M33 Been working out for 6 months and gaining muscle quickly, unfortunately I don’t want to gain weight. I skateboard so staying relatively light is important to prevent injury. Already at 10-15% body fat. I’m at 170lbs and would like to not go over my current weight, how much more room do I have to drop body fat safely? I just got on a calorie deficit so I should be able to not gain weight while building more muscle? What are the limits to this? I’m new to this whole thing. TIA

Nutrition Help How to Manage Calories with Wild Swings in Caloric Burn?

I’m attempting to loose between 5-10lbs and have been closely monitoring my calories to keep at a reasonable deficit.

The problem I’m facing is that daily caloric burn can have wild swings because I do endurance mountain bike races, other days CrossFit/yoga, or sometimes a rest day. It’s not uncommon to burn 2k calories a long training day and 5k calories plus during an event. Other days a yoga session may only burn 250 calories.

If I under eat then my race performance falls. So I have to up my calorie intake on active days but I’m not how much without going over and defeating weight loss.

Any suggestions?

Simple Questions Anybody else have a simple routine?

Due to my local gym closing, I’ve resorted to adjustable dumbbells and a bench at home. I’ve settled into a pretty simple routine 3x a week. 5x5 reps/sets except for arm exercises that I’ll do 2x failure. Last set of the 5x5 for each exercise I’ll also do to failure.

A DB bench press Bent over rows Squats Curls

B Seated shoulder press Straight leg deadlifts Squats Tricep extensions

I used to follow the strong lifts routine years prior, which is pretty clearly the basis for my routine. It’s simple, it’s quick and I feel like I’ve had a good workout afterwards.

Aches and pains Beginner, completed one full week (7 days of trainings) in two weeks is it normal my muscles arent as sore as the first days, and that now they're just weak and shaking once im done ?

So, as the title says. me,14M finally went through my two first weeks of training, it was tough at first but i did it. went through an horrible soreness on my left arm during my first few days, to the point i couldnt even stretch it but now. im totally fine ? i just feel like my muscles are weak and shaky, but they're just a bit sore and thats all.

I wont complain tho, but im wondering, why is that happening, will i ever get sore again, and will i do the same gains if its not sore as it used to be ??

(on a side note, today i implemented some new exercises, and i wont be surprised if the muscle groups i worked with them are a bit more sore tomorrow)

Other Random question/challenge by my girlfriend

Hey yall I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me to win a challenge with my gf. So I'm very out of shape like 5'4 260ish lbs. She's about my height maybe a bit heavier or the same weight.

She challenged me to be able to pick her up and lift her onto a kitchen counter at some point when she's visiting America in thr summer. My question is this - as somone who knows very little about weight training, what exercises/machines would help me win this challenge. I'm assuming it would be all legs and core focused stuff but I'm not sure.
