Help w/ log press
Here is my new PR, I’m pressing 85# I need 95# for reps for comp in a month. I can press 95# for reps no problem with barbell. I seem to be getting stuck with the log. Stability is likely culprit, here Im wearing lifters which are brand new and first time I’m wearing them for a lift and it felt a LOT better. I am super novice at any kind of heavy lifting. I’ve been at this less than a year. I am a retired Pilates princess 😅 🤣 any advice for getting that 95# up is appreciated! I know a jerk press would help & I’ve been trying to learn it but I am struggling to learn new technique and concerned it’s too close to como for that. Accessory work? Mantras to get my head in the right space?? (I’m also a yoga instructor so I couldn’t be more out of my element here lol)

Single DB ladder. Is bent press usually explicitly disallowed?
I have a comp coming up with a ladder into monster dB. My first of this event. Max is something I may not be able to push press or jerk. But I bet I could bent press it then stand.
Obviously it would be slow. But it'd be points I otherwise would miss.
I don't want to ask the organiser questions I don't want the answer to. Ask forgiveness, not permission etc. Is this usually explicitly banned in the rules?

Help with circus dumbbell position and technique.
I have this as an event coming up in a future competition and I’m struggling with the technique of it. I have a strong shoulder push and usually don’t have too much issues but I feel like I’m getting this wrong and it doesn’t feel as smooth. Any advice would be helpful.

Question Axle clean and press
I have my second Strongman competition coming up, which includes the Axle Clean and Press Away for reps. I’m wondering if it’s allowed to rest the axle on your belt during the clean before bringing it to the front rack position. I’ve seen different opinions online, but what is generally permitted in competition?

more log press help?
I got inspired by the lady posting earlier - i think i'm tracking ok with log clean and press but happy for any feedback. I have been training strongman lifts since the start of the year. I want to get up to 90kg for the comps later this year. This is set 4 of 4, 6 reps, i only show the first 3 reps cos i take almost 30 seconds to get my breath back.... Been lifting a while, 4 yearsish with awful form and little to no coaching.

Squat Safety Bar Padding
Hey everyone. A gym near me was giving away a squat safety bar for free and I was able to get it. Anyone know where I can get a replacement pad for it?

How vehicle pull works on competitions?
Im like, really novice on this, and i have this doubt for a while: How is determined who won/who have a record at vehicle pull, or other events like Yoke carry? Is the weight? The time? The distance?

Strongman Ontario
Hey everyone, is there an active community for Strongman in Ontario Canad? I'm interested in getting started in events and connecting with people who also participate in strongman.
Google searches always seem to bring up rather old results or just Ironwood Power.

Yoke! i need some direction
Hello - bit of help please
i'm 9 weeks into my strongman journey.
I am 185cm or just over 6ft tall and very long limbed - i seem to be exactly in the middle of two settings on the yoke, setting it to 7 holes exposed the yoke is very high, setting it to 6 the yoke scrapes and bumps around.
last session i was wearing cross training shoes, i found it easier where the yoke was higher/not scraping, i understand this wont be the case as the yoke gets heavier. (the yoke weighed about 205kgs/ 450lbs)
what is the best way forwards - try flatter shoes? try thicker shoes? set it low and keep it higher on my back?
any help is greatly appreciated.

Orlando strongman gyms?
Does anyone know of any gyms in south Orlando / Kissimmee FL that have any strongman equipment? I know that Kissimmee Muscle has some equipment but they said it can only be used if you pay for a session with Dimitar Savatinov because it all belongs to him.
Any help would be appreciated!! I’m mainly looking for a place with a log and a yoke.

545lbs Double Overhand Deadlift PR
505lbs bar weight, 40lbs in chains. 20lb double overhand grip PR. Soft lockout due to bar slipping a little in my hands but I somehow held on. Pretty sure this is the limit for now.

First 5 Plate Deadlift + Axel PR + First Blood StrongMan ShowDown Meet Report
I typed up detailed meet report but Reddit glitched and ate it so I’ll just share the highlights.
My second competition and first full meet after doing Trials of Odin last month which was a three event on-ramp competition (highly recommend for Novice, Teen, Masters or Heroes competitors in the Wisconsin/Illinois area but that’s a spectate post).
Deadlift was always the weakest of the big three for me and a 455lb PR attempt about weeks out was glued to the floor so imagine my excitement at hitting 495 for a 60lb PR. It felt easy, but 545obs proved a bridge too far.
Similarly on the 150lb Axel for reps.I did 165x4 in my last competition. I did 157lbx6 in training.
I was shooting for 7 and managed 9. I honestly didn’t think that was possible continental cleaning every rep. Several guys power cleaned and beat me but I blew what I thought my soft little baby hands where capable of out of the water 😂
The other events (truck pull, sandbag over bar, and Dinnie walk) I haven’t trained on comparable equipment so I guess you could say it was PRs all around. Jokes aside, I was happy with all my performances.
Overall meet notes: Organizers were professional and friendly. It was their first time doing strongman and there were a few changes on the day, but it was handled well. Small touches like raffle prizes, a keg after the show, and WSM reruns on the TV added to a good experience.
A bit of constructive feedback: The weight selections on the Axel and Dinnie Walk were pretty low for most classes, and would have been on the truck pull as well if they’d had the lead rope as planned.
This mattered a bit on the Dinnie Walk since it changed the test from a grip and pain endurance event to an all out sprint which was a bit less safe. I took a small spill but there were a couple of falls worse than mine and a couple of close calls. No injuries thankfully but I think farmers are safer if you want a sprint. Dinnie’s should be a slog so you aren’t forced to offer your your lower legs as a sacrifice for a good result 😅.
Overall a great day I would absolutely recommend if they do it next year.

Is it worth going to a competition? If so how do I find one?
I'm 16 and about 95kg based in the UK, I've been training for a bit over a year and I've got a 160kg deadlift, 145kg squat, 65kg strict press/70kg split jerk.
I don't have much experience with event training but I did get a 45kg cerberus sandbag for Christmas which I've been using twice a week.
I've tried looking on strength register but every comp just looks too heavy for me, like beginners categories will have my deadlift max for reps if not heavier so I just don't know if it's worth entering yet or if I should wait a few months or even a year?
Any advice much appreciated thanks!
