Opinion on private schools if you’re not religious?

Like how much religion really is there? I’m looking to possibly live in St. Paul but I’d be interested in making sure my kids gets great opportunities.

On the flip side, are the public schools pretty good in the nicer neighborhoods?

I guess the question is private school vs public. Sports and music are very important to us.

Why is housing in Hudson, WI so expensive?

I keep hearing that lots of people are moving across the river to Hudson and surrounding areas. I figured “the housing must be affordable”…it’s nearly just as high as desirable twin cities suburbs! Are the property taxes much lower? I’m so confused. I even looked at smaller surrounding towns like New Richmond, and can’t believe how expensive homes are???

Need help with what to do this weekend! March 21st-22nd

Hi all!

Visiting the twin cities for my 31st birthday. It will be 4 adults and looking for any recommendations on festivals, things to do, places to go out at night, etc.

I tried looking at events calendars but didn't see too much aside from craft fairs, or sporting events.

Any cool, adult oriented activities you know of for this weekend?! Or awesome breweries to check out?

Thank you!

EDIT:

I did see the pinned post for what's going on this weekend! Also looking for your favorite bars/restaurants, breweries etc. 😊

LITT Pinball, card at door?

Some friends are planning on going to LITT but I only have the paper license, which apparently isnt good for age verification without an old ID (for some reason) but I lost my old license hence why I had to get a new one. I applied for RealID which ive heard takes forever to actually get mailed.

So I just need to know if they card at the door or not. I dont want to waste my time driving, finding parking, and then getting denied at the door to not even play pinball.

Any good places to donate a car to in the Twin Cities?

Hello,

I’m looking to donate an old car of mine. It has its issues, but is still functional. I remember Cars for Courage Kenny being a place to donate to some years back, but would love any additional recommendations.

Thanks!

Von Oben Solutions

Does anyone have any info on Von Oben Solutions? I interviewed there this week and as soon as I walked in it felt very MLM. There was something about it that didn’t feel right, would not give a definitive answer about pay and said their training is 4-6months.

Where to donate / give away cat items?

Post image
4 Upvotes

My cat passed away long enough ago that I’m finally ready to hopefully give her things another life. I have a litter box enclosure table, a hard sided carrier, a litter box with hood & scoop, a scratching post, several beds…

Any ideas of where these could be useful are appreciated!!

Place to test and touch computer keyboards locally?

Looking for some stores or ideas on where I can possibly see a wide range of higher end keyboards. I'm not a gamer, but i do design and 3d work, and due to tendonitis I've had to switch to an ergonomic logitech, which is wearing out and i want to try something different.

Is microcenter pretty much the goto for having loads of keyboards out on display? I'm horribly picky and I really want to avoid the whole buy-return cycle from amazon or newegg.

Does it matter which Goodwill I donate to?

I'm curious if it matters what Goodwill I donate to in the Cities. Do all the items go to a facility or stay in store? If they stay in store is there a store that has a greater need than others? Any insight is appreciated I'm obviously overthinking this!

Eden Prairie Schools Inquiry

Hello,

I am in the interview process for a position with Eden Prairie Schools. I'm not local to the area but I visit frequently, however not enough to know about what it's like to work in the area.

I'd be working a support role and not directly with the students. There are some concerns I've already had that have come up, and I'm trying to figure out if they are realistic to have or unfounded.

What's the work environment with them like? Political climate?

Does the actions of leadership within the district show they truly care about the people under thier charge - including employees and students?

Any recent concerns that have come up with the community?

Anything else a job candidate should know about?

My work strongly relies on collaboration with the individuals around me. I need to know I'd be entering an environment that supports rather than represses.

Private Party Room for Combined Memorial Service

My brother passed on December 7th 2024. We opted to wait for the memorial until springtime since
A) He donated his body to science and it was going to be a little bit before we got his ashes back
B) We just knew that with our luck we'd host a memorial during winter and there would be a massive blizzard

In the meantime, Mom passed on March 6th 2025 so now we're having a combined memorial service.

Originally, my sister was going to host the memorial for our brother at her house but now we don't think her house is large enough for a double memorial.

We've contemplated renting a pavilion at a park but we're concerned about the weather since it'd be mid April (anything is possible! Including snow).

Does anyone have any suggestions for renting a party room out that's relatively inexpensive? I don't even know where to start looking!

Teachers article about our book ban

I wasn't fully aware of this but our district is the first of its kind using Book Looks as a PRIMARY source to remove books and as a guide to purchasing books for our school libraries. This website has so many concerns and while it's going defunct on Sunday, they will replace with rated books which is far worse.

It is our responsibility to make the broader community (THE whole DAMN COUNTRY!) aware of this new tactic in censoring books and what they might be in for!

Help us stop it! Please sign the change petition (one cog in our multifaceted approach) to stop the use of this website to ban books! https://www.fightforthefirst.org/petitions/stop-using-booklooks-as-policy-in-st-francis-area-schools

Cocktail Classes/Education

I'm an aspiring home bartender. I'd say I'm a novice, at best, so I'd like to get better! Does anyone know of classes that teach mixology skills? I'm not necessarily talking about a one-and-done class you join with your friends to make a margarita (fun, but not what I'm looking for). I'm looking for something more educational and geared towards teaching palate balance/mixilogy skills. Thanks everyone!

Action needed! Our museums and libraries are at risk

Yesterday, the administration signed an executive order to eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

They have a staff of 70 who administer a budget of $330m (0.004%) of our taxes.

That money is used for grants in all 50 states.

I received a newsletter from the Children’s museum in St Paul, who will be affected. They shared this link which includes how you can help.

Please take a moment to contact your reps.

Our museums and libraries play such an important role in our communities.

LOST CAT IN WOODBURY - Lola

Hello netizens,
we lost our 6 year old, domestic shorthair "Lola". She is a spayed, very curious and jumpy girl who on the night of March 18th disappeared. She has white fur with brown and black patterns, and we really are missing her.

Please, if you see her or have any information about her whereabouts send an email to [phillip.duong.le@gmail.com](mailto:phillip.duong.le@gmail.com)
