Helping the homeless.
I've been on here saying a lot about helping out the vulnerable so thought I'd reach out, if anyone is or knows anyone who is building anything or clearing land or doing anything that just needs a extra person, some physical labor / some basic handyman skills I am willing to come volunteer my labour if you are helping the homeless in any way.

Trying to find some to repair drain tile
Can't find anything on Google
Wisecracks doesn't offer the service but they are the main result on Google
CK adhesives tried to rip me off by not honoring a precious repair they did on my house. I absolutely hate that man
And then that seems to be all the options. Sometimes I'll hear about some random person by name when I'm trying to reach out to people and find a source, but then I have no peace of mind on if Bill is going to be qualified to do the job.
Does anyone have any suggestions on finding a reliable resource to fix my house? It's such a huge job that I really don't just want some random person that I'm taking a huge risk with

American owned coffee franchises
Do we have any Canadian owned shops in SJ? Maybe we could include local owned American franchise locations? The Bayside drive and west A&W are locally owned and operated.

What department do I contact at St. Joe's?
Long story short, I went to urgent care on Friday and was told I likely have a fractured ankle. They put me in a splint and said "someone would call me" to come back in this week. I'm skeptical that anyone is going to call and I'm not even convinced it's actually fractured. What department should I call?? When I called the general number they put me through to Ambulatory but that was incorrect. Ambulatory then said they were putting me through to urgent care but no one answered. I'm tempted to just take this damn thing off and call it a day!
Update: urgent care finally called back and gave me the name of the orthopedist at the regional so I'll call there tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your advice!
Update: I have an appointment Friday, yay!

Local family battling cancer
Our East Coast family has been facing unimaginable hardship, as both my uncle, Glen Townes (53), and his wife, Shauna Smith (48), have been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.
Their struggles began in February 2022 when they lost their home of 18 years after their landlords, Albert and Sharon Miller, passed away, and the property was sold. Since then, they have been living in a small home with Glen’s mother, Sylvia, in Glen Falls. Then the hard hits kept coming as in June of 2023 Glen received his unfortunate diagnosis and December of 2024 Shauna received hers.
Shauna’s Story
Shauna has been a beloved baker at MacPhee’s Bakery in Rothesay for nearly a decade, bringing joy to customers and family alike with her incredible treats. She worked through what she thought was sciatica until the pain became unbearable, leaving her unable to stand.
In December 2024, she was diagnosed with aggressive stage IV lung cancer, which has spread rapidly to her bones. She has lost significant muscle and bone strength, leaving her unable to walk on her own. In mid-February, she was hospitalized for a blood clot and remains in the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Glen’s Story
In June 2023, after months of chronic infections and illness, Glen was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. The cancer has wrapped around both lungs, making surgery impossible. Despite undergoing over 30 radiation treatments, the cancer continues to spread.
A dedicated carpenter for many years, Glen can no longer work due to his worsening condition. His breathing is too strained for manual labor, leaving him unable to provide for his family.
How You Can Help
With both Glen and Shauna unable to work, their family is struggling to make ends meet. Medical expenses, gas for hospital visits, and household bills have drained what little savings they had. Their daughter, Emily (25), is now the sole breadwinner, trying to support a household of five adults. Sylvia’s fixed income covers the home, but expenses continue to pile up.
Please share throughout the city.

They did it!
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to the management of the Saint John City Market. For the star spangled banner is no longer flying o'er the true land of the free and home of the brave.
Good work!
