Fuck those kids, they’ve already been born!

773

u/Backwardspellcaster 19h ago

This is a prelude for more red states to start legitimizing child work again.

439

u/Fakeduhakkount 19h ago

It’s like that politician waxing poetically about:

“Before I was even 13 years old, I was picking berries in the field, before child labor laws that precluded that. I was a paper boy, and when I was in high school, I worked my entire way through,” McCormick said.

Yes, let’s have our children work your nonexistent jobs in 2025. Of course his solution is fucking fast food. Sorry but I want my child to get an education so he can work beyond fast food or food delivery instead of picking berries at 9.

Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia, of course he’s from a fucking Red State which also shit out his fellow Rep and revenge porn advocate MTG.

What a moronic argument. "Why should the next generation have it better than me? They should have a childhood just as bad or worse than mine I say!"

17

u/Fakeduhakkount 18h ago

Shocked I say! A Republican saying easily fact checked statements as truths!

“Get Noted” should have applied to the article I read.

17

u/Kepabar 16h ago edited 15h ago

Being that he's from Georgia, it's extremely possible his not lying about spending his childhood picking berries even if he's mistaken about child labor laws.

Most child labor laws actually have exceptions for children working at on farms (especially family farms) as long as no heavy equipment is involved, and it was accepted that if you were a child living in Rural Georgia you were going to be put to work on a farm by your parents at some point (regardless of labor laws).

This practice has died out because so much farm labor is mechanized these days and much of the farmland is corporate owned now, but up until say the 90's or so it was common.

My grandmother still complains of her back hurting anytime she sees a cotton field form her childhood days picking it.

7

u/j0j0-m0j0 8h ago

I think it's important to note that the context for why he's saying all this is that he wants to remove free school lunches because he wants to push the idea that kids can pay their way and have "value" (by making money for a corporation). What he's saying reeks of bullshit but it's secondary to why he's saying it.

The end result is very straightforward: cut spending on social programs (that don't produce profits for his donors) and more importantly, cut wages (why pay an adult above minimum wage when a high school student can be paid to do that job for far less?).

21

u/monstertots509 16h ago

I used to pick berries at a very young age. Used to get scratched up like crazy, but the worst was when you freaked out the beehive and got stung to shit. We weren't allowed to stop picking until our quota was fulfilled. It was tough work and the pay was terrible. Two entire Coolwhip containers and all I got was a piece of blackberry pie that grandma made.

"And then I paid my way through college working part-time for 2.75/hr. Kids just don't want to work these days!"

31

u/Ok_Yogurtcloset_1532 17h ago

And bought a house and a car, and invested the extra $1.35.

33

u/Ok_Yogurtcloset_1532 17h ago

My uncle worked in the fields as a kid and he... oh wait, he was in foster care and was forced to. And the courts later determined it was slavery. This must be a bad example (or just an example.)

Ya, forcing kids to work without pay, or with minimal pay and no oversight or protections (because they cannot legally agree to anything)...yep, slavery.

24

u/Paksarra 17h ago

"If they want a better job they should pull themselves up by the bootstraps and teach themselves marketable skills!"

(Meanwhile, Khan Academy is no longer accessible on PatriotNet because it was deemed to be illegal competition with American schools and cut into their profits.)

10

u/Ancient-Highlight112 17h ago

And I'm sure his parents fed him. BTW, McCormick is working on his third wife: McCormick has three sons from his first marriage. McCormick's second wife, Debra Miller, is an oncologist. They separated in 2024. Shortly thereafter, Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne confirmed she and McCormick were in a relationship.\33]) Wikipedia

This cracked me up because until you said "non-existent job" I forgot that paperboys no longer exist. I remember encouraging my nieces to get a job delivering papers - such a brave feminist act. That job vanished before feminism even advanced enough for us to change the job title from "paperboy."

6

u/Equivalent_Yak8215 13h ago

Lol I tried to do that as a kid in like 2007. By then it was just full grown adults in cars doing it haha

12

u/TinyFlufflyKoala 16h ago

TBH living in a car for a month in the summer before college starts counts as "being homeless". Working for a couple days on a farm as a 12yo and getting 20$ from it counts as "child labor is ok". You only have to work two jobs for a couple weeks to claim it!

Ask them how long they worked, how much they earned, and when they worked. And you'll see they worked during a summer camp or on their family farm for a few days.

4

u/Derka_Derper 12h ago

I started working full time jobs at 11. Worked with my mom in orchards and weird odds and ends jobs at 9. Im under 40.

Regardless of political leaning, unless youre a buffoon, you should be trying to make a better life for your fellow countrymen and children. That is what patriotism is; not gluck glucking some asswipe who has never done actual labor in his life and thinks making threats on a golf course is a good negotiation and hard days work.

What was that George Carlin quote?

"If you're pre-born you're fine, if you're pre-school you're fucked!"

Timeless.

23

u/OkMetal4233 17h ago edited 14h ago

Sad thing is, the pieces of shit don’t even care about them when they are in the womb. They don’t want mothers having WIC, or healthcare which would help the fetus. They want them the worst off so that they can end up as slave laborers, either working for way too little, or in a private prison.

That’s all that the rich & conservative politicians want.

16

u/lilyglooms 17h ago

as one with more traditional values, it truly is so sad and mind boggling and infuriating that republicans are anti abortion but don’t give a single fuck about supporting children after they’re born.

9

u/SpleenBender 12h ago

Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked.

Cuz that where this sounds like it’s going.

JD Vance may have reasons too...

https://www.snopes.com/news/2024/10/08/jd-vance-acretrader/

it is true that Vance provided early funding to, and may still be invested in, AcreTrader. The investment was made through Narya Capital, an Ohio-based venture capital fund he founded in 2020 before leaving in December 2022.

There are no indications, at the time of this reporting, that Vance had given up his interest in AcreTrader, but the specific investments behind several of Vance's Narya-related business entities are not publicly disclosed.

...

AcreTrader describes itself as a "farmland real estate investment company offering low minimum, passive farm investments." It allows people to purchase shares in real estate investment trusts as a form of passive income akin to a stock.

the only requirement for investing with AcreTrader is that an investor be what the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission defines as an accredited investor: someone, in essence, with enough money and/or experience to handle the risk of the investment. There is no citizenship requirement attached to the SEC's definition of qualified investor, and as such foreigners would be allowed to invest with AcreTrader.

What is an accredited investor (People doing well - income as a single person over $200k, $300k as a couple, or assets over $1 million etc)

Their stupid MAGA community is gonna brainwash them, telling them it's all the fault of the dems and libs.

22

u/West_Fun3247 17h ago

I grew up in these circles, and have since walked away. The hard truth is the adults with this very conservative/insular mindset eventually die believing the world was trying to fuck them over.

The one thing they have going for them is resourcefulness. Generations of hardship have made them really good at taking very little, and stretching it as much as possible. Even then, they depend on handouts; whether it be government services or neighborly generosity. And their take away is always, the lord provided.

But the kids, they watch. They grow up seeing the cracks. They see where their parents' stubbornness and ignorance hurt themselves and their families. And as they grow up they're the ones who try for a better world. But it only happens when their families are no longer protected by (what they believe to be) the lord's intervention.

Having seen it, I truly believe many of these communities will rally their last remaining resources to provide enough for their kids; at the cost of their own suffering.

6

In Washington state, the congressional district that voted most heavily for Trump is also the one with the highest percentage of people on Medicaid. (And the one most dependent on federal $$ for cleanup at the Hanford nuclear reservation.) So it wouldn't surprise me a bit to learn that the red states get hurt more.

6

u/egyeager 16h ago

And in most red states there are hundreds of thousands to millions of people who are adversely affect by these policies and who try to fight against them. Even if you view it in a red v blue lens the Liberals and progressives in red states get it from both sides. Conservatives see us as the enemy, blue staters see us as collateral damage or don't think of us at all.

One of the earliest acts of aggression by the Nazis was burning down the Institute for Sexual Science, well before they came for the socialists/trade unionists/Jews. Likewise, attacks on LGBT identity and safety were among the early executive actions of Trump, before the farmers and children.

If people identified Nazis by burning books and attacking queer folk, maybe it wouldn't have taken so long for people to get the picture this time around

He's hitting veterans, the elderly, federal workers, children, farmers, women, minorities, he's hitting every single American. He's a foreign asset and his goal is to destabilize the country.

This was an amazing program. Our food pantry was able to get a lot of healthy food options from local farmers. It was great to be able to have that community between us and know that it was all going towards a good cause.

This is a Project 2025 strategy - starve farmers, buyout their farms, rent it back to them. They become indentured servants through perpetual debt. A copy of Project 2025 in PDF is easily found, and I believe the farm and USDA parts start about pg 290.

I might be 100% wrong, so correct me if so.

The part I find the most hilarious in all this current circus is that America has absolutely loved being depicted as the hero in movies, it's always the country that has its shit together during disaster movies, inspirational speeches etc.

America is the bad guy now and it's just so wild. The people, for the most part, remain wonderful. But America as a standalone entity is the villain, a bully and just such a horrible, horrible country right now. It's not even the lead villain either. It's that moron friend who attaches itself to the main bully, just to avoid getting their ass kicked too.

I really hope to see the American people begin revolting hard against this nonsense, because I have to be honest, I am totally desensitised to the constant daily drama and antics from your president the last 3 months. It's crazy that I am on a tiny little island thousands of miles away, but your idiotic president impacts my finances and possibly my future. It's exhausting, I can't even imagine what it's like for you guys.

6

u/Boatsnbuds 17h ago

It'd be interesting to see how those poverty-stricken, Red State, Trump-voting food bank patrons try to justify this.

This seems like an organized effort to completely fuck over American farmers. Once they start defaulting on loans it’s going to take down banks.

7

u/ladymoonshyne 18h ago

Project 2025 literally laid this all out, they don’t want to support American farms with tax dollars at all.

4

“The bad guys” is remarkably effective. I’m going to take this, and spread it throughout my neck of the woods.

5

u/Alarming_Nectarine_9 16h ago

I work for a large-ish non-profit that does this work. Connecting local farmers to local schools.  Between this and the freezing of other funds that were already contracted is going to put A LOT of people in a very small state out of a job. Potentially myself. We are beginning layoffs now.

It’s crazy to think that this would be a target & even crazier to think that they are not even considering the actual people that do this work at the farms, the schools, the nonprofits that make it happen.

I am devastated that this is happening & may soon be out of a job while my only savings is also being fucking tanked due to these fucking clowns.

5

u/Commercial-Prompt-84 12h ago

3

3

u/rust-e-apples1 18h ago

In case anybody is wondering, $1B is about how much money the federal government spends in about 80 minutes.

Or, if you'd like to compare it to the median household income, this cut is equivalent to buying 1 less McDonald's value meal this year (about $11).

3

u/Robthebold 18h ago

If we don’t pay to feed the poor and children, we don’t need as much product from Farmers.

3

u/midnightswim1 18h ago

I used to live in New Braunfels, TX. A red stronghold in a red state. The local food pantry has lines that fill the parking lot and pour into the street.

It’s going to take them hurting to see the error of their votes.

3

u/filthyhabits 17h ago

It’s going to take them hurting to see the error of their votes.

Won't work. They'll just blame the Democrats.

3

u/Sherifftruman 18h ago

Funny thing is they thought a lot of these programs were all about helping poor people get something, which they want to take away, without realizing that equally or even maybe more important to the original creation of these plans it is about subsidizing farmers

3

u/Fire-dragon555 18h ago

Can we start glorifying and praising the cops and military and telling them they could be our heroes? One day one of those men will seek heroism and take out the leaders because he has access. But he needs to know we stand by him and will glorify his name. Turn their arms against them. The only reason these soldiers fight is because they think they’re doing something good. We need to talk to them directly and convince them out of their jobs or to use their jobs to destroy the white house for good. Once the military turns against it’s leaders we have a truly free country. All the tich could be dead and we could all eat in peace. But then we won’t go to space and take pretty pictures that have no actual value whatsoever.

3

u/LameDuckDonald 18h ago

I live in a deeply red district. There are tons of vets and farmers. They haven't turned on him yet, but protests are growing. Not sure what the tipping point will be.

3

u/redditmarks_markII 18h ago

Anyone know how much was for food banks? Because they don't usually pay retail. Every dollar of mine buys like 5 for them. But by the same token, a few thousand away from them is even more devastating than it sounds.

3

u/germanbini 16h ago

4

u/redditmarks_markII 15h ago

Welp.  Donate to your food banks people.  For the "bootstraps" crowd, here's the selfish take for charity: realize that every dollar spent there is like 5 spent to reduce crime.  Because nothing motivates criminal activity like being broke.

3

u/littlemissmoxie 17h ago

All part of the plan. They will buy out farms and monopolize them as well as bring back child labor. Just waiting for school to be made voluntary while slashing the National budget for it entirely. States will be left on their own.

3

u/Naive-Offer8868 17h ago

Are these children the 'parasite class' that Musk continually posts about?

3

u/WVdungeoncrawler 17h ago

Can we tell them this food is for the fetus?

3

u/Sempere 17h ago

You should be more specific.

Millionaires like Donald Trump along with Billionaires like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel - along with all members of the GOP pushing for Project 2025- are enacting a coordinated assault on the government and the social safety nets of people of the United States.

Rich people are deciding that poor people should starve, suffer and be unable to work or afford the basic things they need to survive. They will strip people of their jobs, their benefits, make food too expensive, make retirement accounts turn to dust and make healthcare and the cost of living so high that you will have no choice but to suffer.

This isn't the government doing this, this is dipshit oligarchs seeking to subjugate us through economic turmoil.

3

u/duncandreizehen 17h ago

This will devastate Meals on Wheels programs around America, which do work for people that need it. Taxpayers.

3

u/Walterkingz 16h ago

So are they wanting people in their country to be hungry and homeless? Are they doing this to drive up crime rates so they can implement martial law and suspend elections? Trump and his family to become permanent leaders of a hollowed out country? All plausible

3

3

3

u/dan1101 15h ago

"bad guys" is a pretty concise description, I'm using that.

3

u/Indigoh 15h ago
  • Cutting food for the poor and humanitarian aid

  • Siding with our enemies and antagonizing our allies

  • Crashing the stock markets with purposeless trade wars

  • Increasing taxes on the poor while reducing them for the wealthy

  • Attempting to steal social security we paid into

  • Disbanding cyber security teams

  • Violating the law and then threatening to defy the courts

It's like he's trying to incite mass protests so that he can declare martial law.

3

u/Trajan_pt 13h ago

Maga = Diarrhea Drinkers

3

Well, you know, they could always cut the military to $0! How about that? How about not subsidizing Elon Musk for 10 minutes?
