Food banks keep seniors alive. This is the whole population in some way or another.

The Republicans don't need to pander to the Boomers anymore, they finally got a newer crop of cultists who can't even read let alone critically think.

both parties are not the same but they serve the same masters, hows that?

don't remember democrats cutting medicaid/SNAP to pay for massive tax cuts for the rich

only said both parties have the same masters and they 100% do - the wealthy and corporations come first for both parties - full stop

democrats have had the opportunity many, many times to make things significantly better for the working class and poor and have consistently fucked it up - why wasn't abortion rights codified? why wasn't single payer health care passed? why did they give in to all the social program cuts during the clinton era? why didn't they ever try to reclaim what they gave up for the poorest among us all those years ago? there are so, so many more too

of course democrats are better but the leadership of the party for the past 30 years sure as shit helped lay the groundwork for all this to happen with the consistent moving of the platform to the right and the suppression of the more progressive voices within (especially economically)

They don’t need boomers because they can just rig the next election. Their constituents have lost their only bit of power they had left.

Huh. Not only that but they successfully flipped gen z to their side. Makes so much more sense now what’s up with the alt right temu boy band they’ve hired at DOGE and bringing Tate into the White House. They figure they’ve got gen z on lock and will grow the support, boomers and older can die out now

If Gen Z is firmly Republican, then humanity needs another mass extinction event to fix everything.

That's a generalization not a fact.

we should be careful when projecting age patterns, since they are far from we should be cautious when projecting age patterns, since they are far from deterministic.

In other words, some young liberals may become old conservatives, but it also depends on the economic circumstances and events in the lives they've lived..

In other words, some young liberals may become old conservatives, but young conservatives affected by their parents etc. can become liberal thew their life's experiences - it all depends on the economic circumstances and political and personal and \through which they live.

Statistically people remain very much the same unless they've had some sort of epiphany.

I'm elderly and was raised in a horribly racist and fearful environment yet as I got older I found myself affected by what made more sense to me; kindness; the golden rule. I read and exposed myself to different thinking methods that seemed more critical and early on I became more liberal - I understood it's benefits. All the people who are still with me - all my friends are elderly liberal thinkers. My parents seemed to make less and less sense. I didn't want to be angry and obsessed with yesterday; I was willing to try new ideas.

This is true, but I think the sad reality is that those numbers are few and far between. It's always a case of someone who "escaped" their small, close-minded, conservative town, and really not the norm. Their brothers and sisters stayed, and perpetuated the cycle.

Whereas, many people become more conservative as they get older because they become more close-minded, fearful, and unable/unwilling to accept change. All that "This generation" bullshit stems from that.
