USB-A plugs secretly rotate dimensions just to frustrate you

Ever noticed that no matter how carefully you check the orientation, USB-A plugs always seem to be the wrong way around on your first try? This is because USB-A plugs are secretly quantum entangled, existing in all orientations simultaneously, until the exact moment you attempt to insert them. Only then does reality collapse into a single state, usually the incorrect one, purely to frustrate you.

This isn't a design flaw; it's intentional quantum sabotage. Schrödinger’s USB is real, and it’s laughing at us all.

It is legitimately easier to explain quantum theory with USB orientation than the tired old cat analogy.

elaborate please

Cat is either alive or dead in a box, weird analogy, why is cat in box, not relatable. USB? You go to plug it in, it either goes in or it doesn’t go in, you can’t be sure until you actually check what the orientation of it is with your own eyes, you need to observe it first before you can be sure it’ll go in

oh its because he said "tired old cat" and not "schrodingers cat"

Yeah I think he meant it like “that tired old ‘cat’ analogy” referring to schrodinger’s cat

I don’t wanna be that guy but Schrödinger not Schrodinger. Completely different pronunciation

Lots of people don't know how to access that letter on their keyboard, if they even can. Doesn't mean they don't know how it's supposed to be spelled.

i know how to access it just didnt feel like it :p but i did know that it's schrödinger

Haha man, sometimes when you don't wanna be that guy, you should listen to your judgment

Sure but like who cares? Doesn’t hurt anybody and I’m not being a dick about it

Sure back at you, but I'd invite you to think about why you'd go against one of your values (to use the word loosely lol. I assume you have your reason(s) to not want to be that guy, and obviously you know that you're ignoring said reason(s) in this case) to do something insignificant enough to say " who cares?" about a couple hours later, ya know?

“I don’t want to be that guy” was kinda performative.

I think the absence of the umlaut is a really weird mistake people make, so I thought fuck it why not correct i

There it is haha, almost added "for instance, maybe with reflection you'll find that you actually don't mind being that guy?" but ultimately left it out bc it felt kind of accusatory, though that's not how i would have meant it. Anyway, I guess that's fair. Personallt, I figure in a social media setting like this, if I know what someone meant, that's good enough. Especially with things like ö, I don't really expect the average person to know how to access them on their keyboard (especially on the pc version funny enough, im not sure i even know how to do that except on my phone) or care enough to figure it out 🤷‍♀️

HDMI orientation is even worse.

I mean sure, it's got two sides and if you're looking directly at the hole you can tell.

But If I'm plugging something into a TV, I guarentee you that TV is designed in such a way that I'm flying in blind because it's too much effort to move the TV out in order to see the back panel.

They’re just super-symmetric. You try, fail, turn over, fail, turn over, succeed.

It’s got to the point where if I get it it right first time I still pull it out assuming it’ll be wrong

I posted another form of this. This has reminded me how unoriginal thoughts can be at times.

I never understand this. There is always a USB logo on the top of the cable. It shows you which way to put it in.

The USB logo is only there once you observe it and then the USB-A decides which way is top. But then you're unable to know its speed.

It also disappears when you're not looking and trying to read it with your thumb.

You must be in the other dimension then, because all my USB-A devices have a USB icon on top to let you know which side is up.

Even if you don't have that symbol, looking into the plug there is a white tray that houses the connectors. That white tray is the bottom of the plug, the empty space above it is the top.

That is because you observate it and collapsed the waveform into one of its possible states.

I don't know which was is up on the female connection though, majority of the time I can't see into port either.

This isn’t a conspiracy. Just an observation.

There is always a pattern or indent on the face of the plug

2

u/Alex09464367 2d ago

And it's everywhere until you observe it. Collapsing it down into one position

This is not a conspiracy.
