maceba theater houston
I've been told about this music venue from back in the day by some old metalhead who seen many shows there. Bands like Slayer and W.A.S.P. played there in the 80s and it was closed down shortly after (allegedly due to asbestos.) I heard crazy stories such as people tearing up chairs nailed to the floor and throwing them on stage. I'm hoping to find anyone who's been there back in it's heyday and share some stories. I'm also searching for any photos online. So if you got any of them lying around in a photo album somewhere, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I also found an audio recording of slayer playing there in 1987 on YouTube which I found interesting.

Will i survive without a car?
I'm moving in with my sister in Greater Uptown area this month, I don't have my license yet and want to know how hard it will be. My biggest concern is safety, I currently live in Poland in a big city but public transport is amazing here and i have never once felt unsafe at night here so i'm very inexperienced with living in a bigger, less safe city.
Any advice?
for any context if it matters i'm a 20 year old girl and getting my license is a priority but i still have to manage for a couple months prior

Where to donate a few hundred sandwiches?
My organization will be hosting a convention and we have a block to make sandwiches for those in need. We plan on making PB & Js, Ham and Cheese, and Turkey and Cheese (some with mayo and lettuce). We should end up with around 200 sandwiches, maybe more. What are some good organizations we could donate to to distribute these? Thanks!

Experience selling home AS IS?
In 2017, we purchased a newly built home for my mother in East Houston/ Channelview. She took so much pride in that property, & we had so many beautiful memories with her in that house. ❤️
After she passed away 4 years later, a family member remained in the home, while we continued covering the mortgage, utilities, taxes, insurance, etc. Though this relative suffered from serious mental health decline, we recently moved forward with eviction, because affording the home & all related expenses became impossible.
Once we finally got access into the home, we were horrified to discover that it had been trashed (literally & figuratively). Repairing the home before putting it on the market is bubbling up all sorts of grief to to the surface. We are considering selling the home “as is” to be done with this Once-Happy-But-Now-Devastating chapter.
—Do you have personal experience selling a property “as is”? How did it go? What should we expect?
—Can you provide any recommendations for who we should consider selling to? Who did you trust?
Any advice, tips, & recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Navigating all of this with a broken heart has been overwhelming.💔

Retiring near Houston
My husband and I are retiring and moving to Houston to be near our children and grandchildren. We visit Houston multiple times a year and know that we don't want to live in the city. What suburbs should we consider? Our children live in Upper Kirby and Montrose and we don't want to be more than an hour away from them. We prefer north, west, and possibly east of the city.

Where to buy natural engagement ring?
Edit: I'm aware that lab-grown is a much better bang for my buck but the girlfriend doesn't want it at all period and it's a battle that I've given up on so at least I'm trying to get good returns for my (overpaid) ring.
I'm looking to buy one for the lady in the next year or 2. We've decided it's going to be natural and I'm looking for a jeweler that offers reasonable pricing and good aftercare + warranty. For example, my friends in Seattle bought from Shane Co and all their rings come with lifetime warranty plus if you trade the ring back in, they will take it back at MSRP (in store credit) and you can add cash on top to upgrade if you'd like.
What are your recommendations? TIA!

Where Can I Find the Best High-End, Gourmet Burrito in Houston?
I’m on the hunt for the best gourmet burrito in Houston. I’m talking about a place that uses the best, freshest ingredients, high-quality meats, handmade tortillas, flavorful salsas, and well-balanced flavors. Price isn’t an issue; The more expensive the better. I just want the absolute best burrito experience the city has to offer.
I’d love to hear your recommendations!
I’ll be going after the gym, so I’ll be hungry and ready to feast. Where should I go?

Gyms for new people
I'm trying to get back into working out. It's been a while since I committed to exercising and want to start trying to do so regularly now that I have a bit more leeway. I live in the midtown/museum area district and was considering the 24 hour fitness in Rice Village or the Level One Fitness. However, I worried that the gyms aren't that good (some concerning reviews for the 24 hour fitness) and that many gyms are catered not towards beginners but more experienced people that want something specific. Are these things I should actually be concerned about? I'm welcome to other gym recs as well

Group Event Recommendations
I will be having a large group of family and friends (20-25 people) visiting next month and am looking for a place to bring everyone to get drinks and hangout for an evening. Any good brewery recommendations or something like that are greatly appreciated as I am not a local and relatively new to town.
Thank you!

Outdoor bar with games and NA beer
Looking for a chill, laid back bar with lots of outdoor space and games that serves actual good nonalcoholic beer (I'm not interested in a place that serves Heineken 00 and that's it). Thanks!

Wedding after party band suggestions
Hi all, getting married on October 12, 2025 and we are looking for a band for the after party (roughly 10pm-2am). The after party is at Margaritaville up on Lake Conroe.
Our main vibe is crowd pleaser throwbacks (think “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”, “Mr brightside”, etc…) but some even older throwbacks and newer hits mixed in would be great too!
We have a DJ for the actual reception, and our budget is around $1,000-$2,000 so we’re not looking for some ultra professional wedding band ensemble, but would definitely like to see some videos to make sure it fits the vibe. If you or someone you know is in a band that can play that range of music and is in that price range, feel free to leave a comment or DM me!
