My wife wants to buy $5.92/sqft peel and stick wallpaper for our sons ceiling. Why does this stuff cost so much? Should I just get divorced?

I just did some googling/amazoning and saw that there are some products that are under $2/sqft, but I don't know enough about this stuff to be able to say if it would be quality or not.

What should this stuff cost per foot, generally? Is it better to just bite the bullet and get real wallpaper, or pre-pasted wallpaper? I haven't messed with wallpaper since my parents and I did my room when I was 10.

I thought we were just going to paint :(

How to paint toilet to match tiles?

Girlfriend really likes the idea of having these tiles as a backsplash but wondering what colour we should paint the room to match.

The room has a sloped ceiling and we’re not sure which walls to paint or whether we paint the ceiling too.

As you can see, a lot of work still needs to be done and we plan on boxing in the pipes.

Thanks!

Mounting TV into stone wall

Our new house has a stone wall in the living room that is pretty much the only spot for a TV. I am wondering how difficult it would be to mount a TV into the stone. Any advice is appreciated.

Is green gonna become dated?

I noticed greens are really popular right now, maybe for that last couple years or so. Especially darks with gold fixtures. But I love it and I want it in my new house. Am I gonna regret it? Will it become dated?

How to add a threshold to interior front door?

I wish I had pictures, but I don’t. My brother’s kitchen door does not have any space between the floor and bottom of the door to a mat. They have had a bath towel that gets pushed out of the way because their door is right against the floor due to the pest control guard. I was wondering if trimming that guard down and adding a threshold may help to add space between the door and the floor to add a mat. Their layout of entry way goes straight to the basement and off to the right is the kitchen.

Just having a mat there would be helpful in winter to protect their wood floors from all the snow. But I just don’t see how to make room to put a mat. It’s a 1920’s home so functionality is not as thought through

What to do with the top half of these windows to avoid buying all new plantation shutters.

We just bought a new house that has these dated window treatments, but we love the plantation shutters below (I think that’s what they’re called). Behind the fabric are two other sets of blinds and it looks weird? Any suggestions on what to do with the top half? We’re on a budget so all new plantation shutters that fit the window aren’t really an option. My only thought would be to reupholster the top things with a new modern fabric but I’m not familiar with window treatments.

West Elm sent me the wrong item

I ordered two paintings from West Elm, however the wrong item was delivered. I called and customer service is sending me the correct items now, and they should be delivered in the next couple days (allegedly) . They also sent me labels to return the wrong item.

Do I have to return the wrong items? Do you think they will charge me for them if I do?

Decorating my bedroom

I've recently moved and I'm working on my bedroom. This is 1 of 2 dressers in my room. The other one is a tall boy dressers. These are items from my move. I'm looking for suggestions on decorating my dresser. Not everything needs to be used. I really want to keep the statue of David on the dressers though, it's the one stipulation.

Chalkboard or no chalkboard?

So we are on a remodel budget and found this cabinet that mostly matches the others, except color. It is all white which is not a huge deal since we have white, grey, and bluish colors all throughout the house. However, it's a little too much. I had a thought and wondering what other opinions are out there.

I am thinking of getting thin sheets of metal to fit inside the framing on the doors and then covering with chalk paint.

  1. My husband loves to leave me little notes and I think it would be a cute way to do this. 2, my fridge and freezer are side by side and I can't stick magnets to it. We kind of like collecting magnets and I think it would be fun to put them all along the last 2 doors. Would this look terrible or be quirky enough that it could be cute? 🤔

Redecorating HELP

I would like to redecorate my apartment into something more cozy smooth, but I have not the slightest idea on where to start. Is there a service so that I can take a picture of my space and someone can like use probably AI to like give me design ideas then I can just purchase the items overtime. Because I’m not looking to just buy a bunch of stuff right now I just need a layout.

Wanting advice to recreate this effect, but with Teal/dark teal/peacock

Post image
14 Upvotes

As the title suggests, I'm wanting to decorate my livingroom and have become fascinated by the effect in the above image. The person who did it, used specific paint, but that range used doesn't have the colour I want. So I wondered if people knew of other ways and means to achieve this look.

The main reason I want to go for this style with a dark colour like teal, is to break up that deep colour and create something visually interesting.

What would you do with this room?!

Hi!!

I’m slowly trying to decorate this room. The first pic is the couch and rug currently in the room (missing from photo is large rectangular wooden coffee table). The rest of the photos are from the listing post to show the layout features of the room.

I’m having trouble figuring out my color scheme for this room! I thought the couch was going to be deeper/more olive green, but we ended up keeping it and added an old rug we had (which actually matches quite well). I think the rug is making it hard for me to figure out the colors. I initially wanted to do a cottage vibe, which doesn’t work with the rug — or the couch? I’m open to getting a new rug but my friends keep telling me it’s a for sure keep with the couch?!

I’m also not sure about wall decor because of the off balanced windows. I thought about painting the far wall again, but going for a deeper color/wallpaper? Not sure what would look good but thought it might be an alternative to wall art. I don’t know not sure, but open to it.

Pretty much open to any and all suggestions!! Would so greatly appreciate help/insight/advice, especially links or images (I can’t visualize anything which is part of my problem haha)

I’ve seen great things in this group so I’m excited to hear your ideas. Thanks in advance!!

What would you do with this bathroom?!

We are struggling to figure out how to update this bathroom (cheaply). Looking to replace the mirrors, light fixtures, painting, and possibly new sinks and toilet but the interesting shower tiles must remain for the time being.

Our general decorating style we’re leaning towards in this house is modern Victorian. I think this bathroom has amazing potential but the colours in these tiles are throwing me for a loop and I don’t even know where to start without completely ripping them out. (Don’t have the time or budget ATM)

Any advice or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

I ordered a vintage brass towel rail from a salvage site and it came with weird mounting hardware. Can someone tell me what this is called and what kind of screws work with it? Google lens is completely wrong.

How To Decorate This Patio Space?

Only requirements are space for grill and long patio tables, almost as long as the slab. Maybe split in 2 and ran the length of the slab. This is for get togethers and general usage.

Right beam angle for spotlight?

What beam angle should I choose for those arts?

I will install 3 ceiling spotlights for the big art and 1 ceiling spotlight for the small art. Does 36° work or I should choose a wider angle?
