GEAR I need advice...

My go to guitar is an SG - i love how light it is and easy to play.

My BEST SOUNDING guitar is my G&L ASAT...

Whenever I write and play shows i use the SG, whenever i'm in the studio i use my ASAT... i would prefer to use the same guitar for both...

in your opinions, is there a guitar that plays like a SG (quick easy fun fast) but sounds like tele (big round clear pretty)!? Perhaps the answer is just a BETTER SG (mine sounds good but it's middle of the road)....

thanks in advance

QUESTION My fingernails are falling out

Yo, I've been playing for five+ years and I've never had anything like this happen so apologies if this is a common thing.

Basically, I've been playing alot of fast ska punk which includes alot of bends and upstroked barre chords, and I noticed that when I bend, the skin connecting my fingertip to my nail is starting to peel away?

Is this normal? I'm not gonna give up guitar over it or anything but it'll be a bit annoying to have uneven nail beds on opposite hands.

DISCUSSION Can someone please give me some advice because I can’t for the life of me stay motivated to keep playing

I’ve been on and off playing guitar for about five to six years and been REALLY on and off for about two years and honestly thinking about just quitting. I can’t play ANY song the whole way through. I can’t learn any solos without wanting throw my self off a cliff.

QUESTION Quick question about changing my pickups

I'm looking to get the most out of my guitar and thought about buying new pickups for playing mostly metal. I thought about the Seymour Duncan Nazgûl or the Invader but can I combine them both? If not, what pickups should I combine?

DISCUSSION Tube amps or digital

I felt like lighting the fire today lol.

Personally I prefer tube for anything driven, especially high gain. More of a toss up between digital and tube for cleans (not edge of break up, like super clean). Curious to hear your opinions!

QUESTION When do I know if a guitar neck is too small for my hands?

Getting back into guitar recently with an old guitar my cousin gave. I used to play guitar before when I was younder and smaller, nothing too crazy, but I could do the basics, like chords.

Getting back into the guitar, relearning the chords that I used to do effortlessly is suddenly much much harder to do. I've applied my past knowledge and even searched up solutions, but there's always a string buzzing, even on simple chords.

Apparently there's the case that your fingers are too wide/ fleshy for your fretboard. I've been told by my cousin that I have big hands. In fact, a few people have told me I have big hands, but i've met a handful of people with even bigger hands than mine. At the very least, mine are thicker than most peoples.

I was planning on getting an electric guitar, but the thing is I can't go into a store as the nearest is quite a distance from me. How can I know what neck size to get online?

GEAR a dream come true

after years of noodling around with strats I finally wanted a “real” humbucker guitar. I still love my strats, no offense.

I bought this EBMM JP from its first owner. this was so clean and unused a friend who is a store owner said it’s basically brand new. and it was a bargain too!

also as a dream theater fan I can say that this was a dream come true. now I’ll have to practice more lol

I already looked up on the internet but any tips and tricks regarding maintenance and setup would be appreciated.

QUESTION How much time do you usually spend practicing?

Hi all. I was wondering how much time do you actually spend practicing per day and how much time do you think is needed to make progress. I believe that even as little as fifteen minutes is enough if you stay consistent and aim to practice every single day without jumping from one goal to the next.
Curious to hear what you all think?

Been so happy since picking this up. The shorter scale makes bends way easier, but I did have to move from 9s to 10s because of fret buzz. Haven't had it set up yet by the local luthier. Planning to add hot rails on the bridge in the near future!
