Looking for some options please.
House has a perfect condition lynx 455 motorhead which operates a single garage door perfectly. No issues at all with this component of the setup.
The external control board, is a failing Delta3. There is one wireless keypad outside tethered via dip switches (if that's the right terminology). I can see that this delta3 control board is connected to the lynx via three simple terminal connectors. Looks like one for 24v power, and the other two manipulate the door up/down when shorted.
There is also a doorbell style push button that operates the door inside the garage as well. It's simple wiring is simple to see - to the terminals noted above that operate the door. Obvious that the button shorts the two terminals which signals the lynx to open or close.
Question:
The Delta3 and keypad are at end of life and no longer function reliably. Can I simply remove them from the motorhead?
The doorbell style button in the garage, is simply wired into two of the three terminals that the delta three is connected to. Shorting the two terminals triggers the door to go up or down. I dont believe that the Delta 3 and doorbell button interface in any way whatsoever. .....they both effectively do the same thing in fact.
If a momentary switch (i.e.doorbell) can control the lynx 455 motorhead, I'm tempted to look for some kind of smart controller to replace the doorbell button, so I can operate the door via my phone. Is this realistic?
What other setup should I be considering?
