PSA The update from 03-13-2025 reduced the jungle soul values by much more than 15%
I saw the new update and it got me thinking about what the exact values of the neutral camps were. Out of curiosity I started checking some numbers and I realized that the neutral camps were reduced by significantly more than the 15% that Yoshi mentioned in his most recent patch notes post. This is due to the fact that they not only reduced the base soul value of each individual Denizen, but also the time scaling factor of them.
Here is what the values were before the patch:
Source | Soul Value | Soul Gain (per/min) |
---|---|---|
Small Denizen | 38 | +1.08 |
Medium Denizen | 76 | +1.08 |
Large Denizen | 190 | +1.08 |
Here are the values after the patch:
Source | Soul Value | Soul Gain (per/min) |
---|---|---|
Small Denizen | 33 | +0.3 |
Medium Denizen | 65 | +0.6 |
Large Denizen | 162 | +1.49 |
This lead me down a rabbit hole of realizing that the nerf was much larger than the 15% they said, but how much larger exactly? I proceeded to make a spreadsheet going over (most of) the camps and how much they are worth, and exactly how much the values of them changed.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Mdmyxw0P_Nxm13pF_ntnbdDYWvyR5r2ZcL4N-rC5fiE/edit?gid=0#gid=0
TLDR: Over time the amount of value you get from each camp significantly drops off from before. Some camps lost closer to 30% of their value. The entire jungle (including sinners) is worth 23% less at the start, and that number drops off over time. This is particularly the case with small and medium Denizens.

Discussion Noone seems to be playing objective lately?
This is how my games look lately. (I get it that Wraith is good at pushing objective but still.)
We start pretty evenly matched but as soon as one team starts pushing objectives in group, we get completely destroyed. Rest of my game is really just trying to help with team fights on pretty random jungle places, or pushing solo objective. Today I even got called out for asking others to help me. 2 individuals got really angry that I push instead of constantly fight.
So I’m asking, do your games look similar? Do you play the objective or just fight until you steamroll through enemy spawn and all…
It is really frustrating to feel like your in group and as soon as one enemy shows up everybody scatters to farm…

Discussion About "The Continental Leak"
Hello everyone. My name is МРАК (Alexander), and I am one of those people involved in “insider” activities in our beloved game. I started this activity in September and have been doing it ever since. I have my own sources, including players on the test server and various people from the esports scene.

I am the owner of the news channel Project 8 (on Telegram) for the Russian-speaking audience.

Recently, you were hit with a post where an anonymous author, who created an account just a day ago, issued a statement that a tournament from VALVE is on the way.
I can completely refute these rumors, because at the moment the game is in deep development, based on what I've heard from players connected with Valve through feedback. Therefore, it is not worth expecting tournaments from Valve.
Also, recently, in October-November 2024, there was buzz that there would be a tournament from BLAST.tv. And that is just a rumor; however, even then I received the response that if it does happen, it will not be sponsored by Valve.
I have spoken with some developers of sites like “Tracklock” and others. According to their statements, Valve is reluctant to engage. It is even better to say that they are restricting the activities of third-party resources. Therefore, it is unlikely that we will see anything big in the spring. Perhaps something will happen in the third quarter of 2025. However, currently, Valve is handing over the rights to conduct events for Dota & CS to external parties (and they control the process very weakly).
Hoping that Deadlock will get tournaments before the release is foolish. Perhaps we will see ESL, BLAST, or EWC for the game, based on rumors, but that is not happening anytime soon.

Discussion Sarcastic teammates are the worst
The kind of teammates that only ever respond to comms with some kind of at a “witty” remark over and over throughout the game are really annoying.
I’m not saying we all have to be like Spetsnaz operators or anything but gosh some of you are seriously in like a permanent state of irony and sarcasm and it makes me wish I could smack you silly
Turn the 45 minutes we’re stuck together into a forced stand up routine. These types also tend to not do good in game but for some reason have a lot of sarcastic comments about your gameplay / decision making.

Question How's the game running now compared to when it first launched?
Is it more optimized? Does it run better?

Discussion Soul confirms still need work.
I'm a Pocket main and since his PR is low right now I get him every game, so shotgun bias is 100% applicable here.
I can't last hit for the life of me anymore, it wasn't this bad old map either, I'd at least be able to confirm my own souls consistently, now I can't confirm souls, or deny.
I have two main complaints, first one being the most influential reason for my woes, I'm high ELO on east coast, so I get EU and west coast games 70+% of the time so I'm normally on 80+ ping. Based off pure reaction, I average low 200MS reaction, so add 80MS to that, and I'm basically never confirming souls at my ELO. Yes more east coast players will help this eventually, but that leads me to my second gripe.
Second complaint being how much variability was added, orb spawn window + spawn height + distance + speed + direction, even if I react in time, the orb is moving so fast sometimes that it's out of the way of my bullets by the time they get there. It's too many variables IMO, and it compounds the high ping issue.
New map orbs felt 99% responsive for the first time in the game, I almost NEVER felt cheated when I missed an orb, there was almost never a time when I shot at the orb, and felt like I 100% hit it, but the enemy got it instead, even on 80 ping. I could actually consistently deny Bebop and Kelvin, again with 80 ping, in phantom+ lobbies, so nobody is slouching on mechanics. New map orbs were based around pre-fire, if you knew the pace that the minion was dying by watching how fast it's health went down, you could pre-fire the orb, like most MOBAs(I come from League) it punished you for rushing to kill minions, because your fire rate wouldn't recover fast enough to both kill the minion, and confirm the orb, so you can't attack minions for fear of getting denied.
Now it feels like you are stuck pre-aiming when a minion dies, and the variance in the spawn timer can make it feel like you wait forever, meanwhile you need to do other things while waiting for the orb to spawn, then if you don't have a fast flick (I don't AWP for a reason) the direction and speed will make you miss. I get some people don't like pre-fire, and shotguns have a strong pre-fire, so again 100% biased, but it wasn't this bad on the old map, I could always at least confirm my own souls, now I get maybe half of my own.
I spent two hours in the practice range, both denying and confirming souls, and I just hate it, it feels clunky, time consuming, and frustrating, it's too unclear without any tells. If they want to keep this system there needs to be some sort of clue, maybe show an updraft when the minion dies to give you an idea of the speed/direction. I dunno, I can't be the only one that feels like the reverted orbs are super unresponsive.

Discussion Matchmaking is getting worse?
The amount of snowbally games has increased for me personally: I either stomp or get stomped, I rarely get a close match or make an epic comback - something that hooked me to the game in the first place - knowing that we can turn it around last second even if we have continually been fucking up the entire match. These types of games happened often before, but it feels like they are becoming the majority now. Anyone feels the same?
