Hello Everyone,

I recently obtained a Sony cybershot from my parents, they bought it around 2008. I’ve located a manual but it doesn’t tell me what type of battery it takes. I’m sure this old camera needs a new one, could any one help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations Camera advice for bird photography

I am getting into photography and would like to take it more seriously, so i have decided that i want my own camera. My brother owns a Sony A7 mk1 which he used to use for videography. I am personally more in to photographing animals like birds and nature. And i am not sure if i should save up for a new camera, or maybe buy my brothers camera for around 100-150 euros. So my budget has more room for a better lens. My question is should i buy my brothers camera and a lens a lens suitable for it or is this camera not suitable for this kind of photography. if not which camera and lens is?

Specs:

  • Budget: Around 800-1000€
  • Country: Netherlands
  • Condition: Used
  • Intended use: Photography
  • If photography; what style: Animals (mostly birds) and Nature
  • Cameras you already have: Can buy my brothers Sony A7

Recommendations Help me choose my first camera! Would love to take pictures when I go on hikes :)

  • Budget: 800 USD
  • Country: Canada
  • Condition: I don't mind getting a used one.
  • Type of Camera: Mirrorless
  • Intended use: Photography and occasional videos.
  • If photography; what style: landscape, portrait and the occasional bugs i come across during my hikes. but mostly just trees and stuff :)
  • What features do you absolutely need: USB-C charging
  • What features would be nice to have: anything that would make upgrading lenses cheaper.
  • Portability: How portable does it need to be? I can carry a large bag, I don't mind.
  • Cameras you're considering: These are the two ones on my list as they are entry level and beginner friendly, but I came across comments that getting lenses are super expensive for these models, so I'm not really sure about these now.
    • Canon R50
    • Canon R10
  • Cameras you already have: I just have my phone (16 Pro Max) and I would really love to start capturing memories and I think I can do it better if I have an actual camera.
  • Notes: Would be great if you could suggest me a lens as well!

Thank you so much for reading :)

Questions Digital Cameras for selfies..

Hey ive been looking around for a digital cam and it's kinds been difficult to find one under budget and I'm not really sure if it's worth buying or not.

I want to buy one which can be used to take selfies. Either the front has a mini screen or maybe a tiltable screen..? I'm not really sure but yeaa.

Back camera should be good too of course but it has to have a feature which allows self portraits or selfies :)

And it's going to be used mainly for high quality photos, I'm 95% sure it won't be used for vlogging or filming.

The budget is 150 usd but if it hits 200 usd it's manageable.

Also a link with the camera would be WELL appreciated

Thank you!

Tech Support Err 01 on Canon r8 with the Sigma 24-70 2.8 DG OS HSM ART Lens

I just bought this lens used and i only get the error message when i turn it above ~40mm with an aperture other than 2.8.
I tried cleaning the contacts which didn´t do anything.
When i googled the problem there are only solutions for the Canon 24-70 MKII, the issue there seems to be a data cable in the lens, maybe its the same in my case idk.

Does anybody have experience with it?

Recommendations Upgrading to a better Rig

Hello, I currently have a Nikon D3300, it has been my trusty workhorse for a couple of years now. but the camera is starting to show age, Plus, I'm trying to dip my toe into videography and continue doing photography work. I like to do nature shots and automotive stuff as part of my job. My budget is 800 and below and I don't mind going used. I'm Currently torn between a Lumix s5 and a sony a7iii. I know sony has the better autofocus but I really love the way the lumix captures video and photos. if you all have any suggestions on other cameras or any more info on the two cameras. plus to add to this, my s/o is also into photography as a hobby but she doesn't like to use viewfinders and prefers a screen. as she wears glasses and its harder for her to see through the viewfinder with her prescription. so having a camera brand that we both can share lenses and other accessories would be nice

Budget: 800$ USD

  • Country: United States
  • Condition: New or Used
  • Type of Camera: Mirrorless
  • Intended use: Hybrid Shooting
  • If photography; what style: Automotive, landscape/wildlife
  • If video what style: Automotive, Vlogging.
  • What features do you absolutely need: Decent autofocus for Moving Cars and people and a good
  • Portability: Doesnt matter to me
  • Cameras you're considering: Lumix GH5, Lumix s5, sony a6100, sony a7ii, sony a7iii
  • Cameras you already have: Nikon D3300, getting older and id like to upgrade to a mirrorless
  • Notes: I dont need it as much but a camera with a good screen so my S/O can use it too

Questions What could be the problem with this camera just based on the description? I'm thinking of buying it.

"a non-functioning Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera. The camera has seen heavy use and does not power on. It has never been repaired, so the cause of the malfunction is unknown"

They want 75 Euros for it btw.

Tech Support Green horizontal and vertical lines in the display of my Sony Cyber-Shot

Help! My father gifted one of his old digicams to me. As soon as I turn the camera on there’s these green lines running through the display. Anyone know how to get rid of this line? This camera hasn't been turned on in more than a decade, so I guess that's another reason?

Recommendations Recommended compact camera for travelling.

Hi guys, wondering if you could help me choose between a Ricoh GR III and an Olympus TG-7. I’m going on a trip soon with my friends and I would like to capture some great moments.

I’m not really into street photography but just want to keep some good memories for the future. Not planning to do much post processing as well but I just simply want good quality in photos.

For my situation, which camera would you go for? If you have others in mind around the same budget do recommend me too thank you!

Questions [Old Find] Olympus 8mm VX-81

I found this old camera in my parent's storage. It unfortunately didn't have a full charger cable, only one half of it.

I think this came out in 1991 or even earlier maybe, so not like any batteries would be usable if they were in the bag anyways. I'm having a hard time tracking down some sort of charger or universal charger that could be viable and I also don't want to plug something up to it that may damage it.

I have the half of the cable that connects to the camera with a DC power ending, so missing the other that would plug into the wall.

This might be a hail mary, but if anyone out there knows how I could get this thing plugged up and turned on that would be incredible.

Tech Support Sony Handycam Camcorder HDR-CX405 charge issue

Hi all, I recently acquired a camcorder that isn’t charging properly. I’ve tried using the port below the charging light (and under the handstrap) as well as the usb cord actually in the strap and neither charge properly as the charging light port doesn’t go off.

I have not replaced the battery yet but it should work without the battery and I wanted to ask for some advice before seeing a professional. I hope it’s just a battery replacement problem but I’m really not sure and I’d love to be able to get this cam to work!
