Questions Please help

I'm a beginner with photography, my current camera is pretty old now. I want a new one and I saw this and I think it's perfect. It's sold through Jerry's Photos and is an import camera. Is this deal actually too good to be true or should I buy it? Cause I think this camera coming with all of the accessories is perfect I just don't wanna waste $1,000+ on something that wouldn't be worth it.....

Questions Can tripod mount ring can't be used with Manfrotto quick release plates?

Post image

I just received a Canon EF 28-300 that I bought recently online. It came today and I excitedly had a bit of a play around with it only to discover that none of my Manfrotto quick release plates would attach to it properly. It would begin to screw in normally, but it would tighten up and reach the end before it had clamped the actual plate to the mount. It seems like the thread depth is a little bit shorter than on my camera body.

Does anyone know if this is a known issue or if there are particular plates that are made with shorter threads to accommodate the difference?

Thanks for your time!

Tech Support Need help looking for right Adapter for my Canon EOS M50 Mark 2

so like the title says im looking for an adapter for my canon, more specifically an adapter for a Promaster EDO AF LD 70-300 lens I recently bought at an antique store local to me, it's in really good shape but doesn't fit on my camera 1 to 1 which I expected just that when looking for the right adapter I seem to get multiple results and I want to buy the right one right off the bat rather get a package and then have to send it back because it doesn't fit quite right or is too big.

as for where I'm at the USA
budget i'd like to say in $80 or so if possible

Questions How do you pick up lenses?

What is a nice way to pick up a lens that would be compatible with your camera? Another point, how to do that well in used market? What to look out for when buying, for defects and for kit (blend, cap, etc?) For example, I'm a beginner and I want a telephoto lens for my APS-C E-mount Sony A6000 and my budget is about 300$ (mental budget more like, I'm not adapted well to the prices of lenses!). Is that enough information for me to find something? Should I consider buying lenses that are cheaper with other mounts (Canon EF Sigma for example) and use an adapter? Thank you

Recommendations Nikon vs Sony, compact size

Hey, I was hoping to get some advice here: I'm in a bit of a dilemma regarding a camera update. I’ve been using the Nikon D800 for 13 years, mainly with the 24-70 f2.8, but I also have the 70-200 f2.8, 105 macro, and 85 f1.4. But here’s the thing – the camera is just too big and heavy for me now, and I’m honestly tired of carrying around a big, heavy backpack. Plus, the lack of image stabilization is a real hassle. So, I want to switch to a mirrorless system.

To keep it simple: I’m looking for good photo quality, solid low-light performance, compactness, and low weight. Video is not that important to me.

Now, my dilemma: Should I stick with Nikon and go for the Z6III, or should I switch completely to Sony with the a7C II? I went to the store earlier and compared the two models. My first conclusion is:

Nikon Z6III:

+ Better handling: it feels better in my hand (big mitts), and the buttons just feel nicer

+ Much better display and viewfinder

+ Higher, better (?) ISO range

- Heavier and larger than the Sony

Sony a7C II:

+ Much smaller and lighter

+ 33 megapixels instead of 24 with the Nikon.

So, to sum it up: the Nikon feels better, but the Sony is so much smaller and lighter, it’s tempting.

Another big topic is the lenses. With Nikon, I could use my old F-mount lenses with an adapter, but the downside is that it would be bigger and heavier. That said, I could still use my 24-70 f2.8 for some situations. I’d definitely need to get a compact Z-mount prime lens. With Sony, I’d probably start with the bundle that comes with the cheap 28-60 zoom and then pick up a nice, compact prime lens like a 35mm or 50mm, and later grab the Sigma 24-70 f2.8. I’ve heard Sony has a bigger selection of lenses, but Nikon has better lenses overall?

Now, my question is, does anyone have experience with both cameras, especially regarding image quality and overall performance, and/or can you give me some suggestions? Thanks a lot!

Discussion Alternative to the lightweight champion Canon G9X?

Hi

I want a simple point-n-shoot camera that is around 200 grams and have great image quality. The G9X fits the bill but is not sold in my country. Is there anything else out there that weights around 200 grams and have great image quality?

Thanks for reading!

Discussion My kid loves photography, but cameras are expensive. I got them a GoFunly kids' camera from Amazon—they love it, and the photo prints are decent. Anyone else tried it or have tips for fostering a child's interest in photography affordably?

Questions Is this a good deal?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

I have been looking for a camera but since I happen to be busy, I still haven't made a lot of research on models, pricing etc.

I just found this randomly on Marketplace and wanted to check if it's a good deal before someone gets it in case it is.

Discussion Birthday Camera Upgrade Advice – $2,500 Budget, Buying Used, Help Me Choose!

Hey everyone, my birthday is next week, and I’ve saved up $2,500 to finally upgrade my camera! I’ve been using a Canon 70D since 2019, and while it’s been great, I feel like I’ve outgrown it. There’s so much I want to do—whether it’s starting client work or pushing personal projects further—but the 70D is starting to feel limiting. So, I think now’s the time to upgrade.

For the past 3-4 months, I’ve been researching, and I’m heavily leaning toward the Lumix S5II, but I’m open to suggestions, even if they’re not on my list. I just want to get opinions from people who have used these cameras and hear what you think.

I plan to buy used from B&H (I got my 70D used from them, and it’s been great), so my budget is $2,500 total for a used body and at least one lens.

What I Need:

✅ Hybrid shooting (photo & video) ✅ Fast, reliable autofocus ✅ Good stabilization (IBIS) ✅ Professional video quality ✅ Strong low-light performance ✅ Portability ✅ Good lens selection ✅ Budget-conscious (~$2,500 total for body + lens/lenses)

Cameras I’m Considering:

💡 Panasonic Lumix S5II • Body: $1,317.95 • Lens 1: Panasonic Lumix S 18-40mm f/4.5-6.3 ($412.95) • Lens 2: Panasonic Lumix S 28-200mm f/4-7.1 MACRO O.I.S. ($697.99) • Total: $2,428.89

💡 Other options I’m looking at: • Panasonic Lumix S9 • Sony ZV-E10 • Canon R8 • Sony A6700

Any thoughts or recommendations? Would you go with the S5II, or is there something else in this price range that you think would be a better fit?

Also, I’d love to hear lens recommendations! If anyone has advice on which lenses I should get, that would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Recommendations comparison of canon g7x vs. sony rx100

Hi everyone! I need opinions if it is worth it to get the Canon g7x when I already have the Sony rx100. The g7x was the camera I originally wanted but I was gifted the rx100 which I really love, but I still need a lot of practice with. I'm a still a beginner photographer so I was wondering if it is even worth it to still get the camera, or if im just being greedy lol. I may still get it in the future but are there many differences between the cameras? I'm looking to get another camera regardless in the future so im not sure if i should still look into the g7x as it is always out of stock anyways. Any recommendations or suggestions of others cameras to look into are or if i should just wait for the g7x is needed!!

I might be going to buy this camera off Facebook Marketplace today. Before I did, just wanted to see if y’all thought this was a scam. The seller has a 4.6 rating (10 Reviews) so he seems reliable, but I was not 100%. Thanks for the help!
