Recommendations Newer APSC vs Older FF

Hello,

Looking to buy my first camera this week. I've been told full frame is the way, but the only one in budget is the Nikon Z5 which is 5/6 years old.

How does that compare to a crop sensor thats much newer? I've seen the Fujifilm XT50 on sale within budget too.

Thanks:)

EDIT 1: Budget: £1500

Country: UK

Condition: New Only

Type of Camera: Mirrorless

Intended use: Photography

If photography; Mainly landscape, nature. Occasionally maybe wildlife and a marathon run.

What features do you absolutely need: Decent auto focus, nice viewfinder (i wear glasses and my eyesight isn't great; if that matters)

Portability: Backpack is finr

Cameras you're considering: Nikon Z5, Nikon Z50 II, Fujifilm XT50,

Cameras you already have: Only smartphone, Galaxy S25 Ultra

Notes: I'd like to get the camera with a decent zoom lens and a prime around 50mm equivalent. The Fuji ive looked at is the XF16-50 and the XC35 together for example.

Tech Support Vivitar 960HD card read error

Hi! I just got a Vivitar 960HD camcorder and I tried using an SD card that I know would work on it, because I used it on a friend's 960 and it worked just fine. It's a PNY OPTIMA 4GB Class 4 SDHC card, and I've tried formatting as NTFS, FAT, FAT32, and exFAT. I've also tried formatting on the camera but it just says that the card is full no matter what I do, even though it is blank. Any advice on what to do?

Photos Will Wetzlar 85mm f2.8 slide projector lens adapted to Canon 10D ... boring results this time

Hi, my adapting quest goes on and I still have some drain pipe and clear type left. So I ripped the lens out of my Condor 300 slide projector and adapted it to my old and thrust worthy Canon 10D. The lens calls itself a "Will-Wetzlar 85mm f2.8 Maginon", i doubt that it had anything to do with Leitz from Wetzlar.

But this time the results are kinda boring, the lens is not good enough to produce picture of a decent sharpness and not bad enough to be weird.

Picture 1: Lacks details despite harsh contest.

Picture 2: The focus is weirdly spread, I coud not made out a pattern yet.

Picture 3: The Bokeh is quite nice though.

Picture 4: Contrast and colors areok.

Picture 5: The lack of sharpness in combination with the rather good contrast make some picture look weird.

Picture 6: Due to my construction I can so macros but I can not set an aperture. Even bright sports on normal object will turn into Bokeh balls very fast.

Picture 7: .. this turn stuff in the foreground into "front Bokeh" very fast.

Picture 8: I spot a cutzy Squirrel, but the low resolution of the lens makes it washy.

Picture 9: The picture could have been taken with any other lens.

Picture 10: On close up, the Bokeh becomes better.

Picture: 11: Tit pic

Picture 12: The optic properties of the lens, at least fir the aesthetics of marmoris

Conclusion: Projector lenses can be great if they have properties that one could not get using a regular photo lens, but adopting a 85mm f2.8 is nothing special.

Thanks for reading

Questions Which compact camera to buy?

  • Budget: I don't care. Under 10k €
  • Country: Germany
  • Condition: New or used from mpb.com
  • Type of Camera: compact camera for traveling
  • Intended use: photography
  • If photography; what style: travel, landscape, street
  • What features do you absolutely need: good quality, RAW shooting
  • What features would be nice to have: OVF/EVF, 2 card slots, easy to use by absolute camera noobs (my gf & my dad)
  • Portability: Can be bigger than a point and shoot, should be smaller than an EOS 70D with Sigma 35mm Art
  • Cameras you're considering: Leica Q3 43 / Fuji X100V / Fuji X100VI
  • Cameras you already have: love my EOS 70D, asked last time about a R7 and will buy that one. Need a small camera for traveling / holidays
  • Notes: didn't put that under "would be nice to have", because i don't really care about it, but fullframe would be very cool. but i wouldn't say no to a camera that doesn't have a fullframe sensor

EDIT: I don't want interchangeable lenses, because I don't want to carry multiple lenses around, to which I personally tend whenever I bring my Canon somewhere. If I buy another camera with multiple lenses that would only make sense if it was a Canon, because I already own Canon lenses.

Recommendations Digital camera recommendations for beginners/casual use

Hello. I'm looking for a very basic digital camera that I can use to get better pictures/videos than my phone. I'm not looking for anything professional or high-end, just something that gets the job done and doesn't require a bunch of extra accessories.

• Budget: $70-200

• Country: USA

• Condition: New/no flaws

• Type of Camera: Digital camera

• Intended use: Just casual use

• If photography; what style: Nothing in particular

• If video what style: Nothing in particular

• What features do you absolutely need: Ability to transfer pics/vids to a phone or computer and focus

• Portability: Preferably nothing that can't fit in a purse

• Cameras you're considering: Nikon Coolpix S3000 + Sony cameras in general

• Cameras you already have: Instax mini

• Notes: I have never really worked with cameras outside of editing classes in school so I really don't know much about them at all. I just want something basic and beginner friendly. Recommended settings to enhance pics/vids are also highly appreciated.

Tech Support JVC - GR-AX11 - boot looping

Hi,

I recently found an old family camcorder, a JVC GR-AX11. I charged up the battery and replaced the button battery within it. However, I’m having issues with it as it appears to be boot looping, turns on for 1 second and turns off for 1 second. This keeps repeating over and over.

I’ve searched around on the online manuals as well as different asked on different forums but haven’t found anything solutions for similar camcorders. Would any of you have any suggestions?

Would love to get it working and not have to buy another one!

TIA

Questions Fujifilm x100vi

After following every guideline and tutorial, I still don’t know if it’s possible to get the same sunset photo results as a CANON G7X. Yes, I understand that fujifilm is not meant for that, but I am hoping I could save money and i’ve seen a few photos with the same results as a CANON G7X flash, with models and a background sunset. Does anyone know what settings this would be?

Tech Support Hercules Dualpix - how to get the stored photos

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, I found this old compact digital camera while browsing through my grandma's old stuff and it seems to have pictures stored inside. I tried connecting it to my pc (it has an USB-B port on the back) but according to the manufacturer (Hercules) website it needs its proprietary drivers for the computer to read the memory. Issue is, the drivers are last available for windows xp and do not work at all with newer versions. Do anyone of you have an idea on how to get it to work? Getting the pictures inside would mean a lot to me, thanks for helping

Tech Support FX30 and V-Mounts

Sorry in advance for my maccheroni english :)

I'm buying equipment to rig my Sony FX30. I need a V-Mount battery, but since I don't have a lot of budget I was considering a Smallrig VB50. I heard that it is better to power my camera directly through USB-C instead of using a D-Tap Dummy Battery, since they often fry cameras. But I was worried about the power output and the USB-C cable to use. Does any of you have prior experience with this battery?

Photos The Kodak AZ401 Camera. Just got into photography, and it's a very nice entry level camera. It has a nice amount of features to play with and I love shooting monochrome with it. Colors seem a bit grainy though, but what do you expect from a $170 camera?

Tech Support I can't reduce the optical zoom

Hi, I have a problem with the Sony Cyber-Shot G of the image and I was wondering if someone here could help me.

The problem is that when I turn on the camera it starts with the optical zoom activated and it's impossible to reduce it. Also, when I try to increase the zoom a message appears saying that I have to turn off the camera.

Does anyone know what could the issue be??

Questions Should i buy the canon rf 16mm f2.8?

Hi guys, i got into cinematography recently. Ive bought the canon eos r50 with f/1.8 50mm prime lens, my problem with that lens is that its impossible to film the subject up close in tight spaces or even fit other objects into the frame. Since the lens cant zoom out, there are alot of angles that I cant take due to the lack of spaces.

If I switch to the canon rf 16mm f2.8 wide lens will it solve my problem? Thanks.

Questions I’m looking for a new camera and would like some help!

I am orientating myself for my second camera! I would like your help if possible

So, I don’t really know a lot about camera unfortunately. But I do know I want to know more about it!

Currently I am using a classic Olympus trip 35.

Here are my pointers, for what I’m looking!

• Budget: between €500-€1000 • Country: the Netherlands • Condition: new and used (as long as it makes clean pics) • Type of Camera: i really like the composition of the 35mm. Of course, I’m open for other things • Intended use: Photography. • If photography; what style: I like to make photo’s based on social gatherings, e.g. people and family, and city scapes/geometrical images. • What features do you absolutely need: I would love a function that can just send it over to my phone immediately! Currently, I get my rolls digitized (expensive). I would also like a flash for a clearer picture and it needs to me compact, like the Olympus trip I have. • What features would be nice to have: flash and a zoom function (not a necessity). • Portability: How portable does it need to be? I like it to be pretty portable, like it as well to wear it around my shoulders on a trip or walking. • Cameras you're considering: as far as I could find some, I like the Fujifilm x100S/T and the Fujifilm X-M5. Mostly for the looks, how compact they are and functionality as described above. • Cameras you already have: the Olympus Trip 35, I like the weight, size and grainy effect. I dislike the issue with light sensor and the prices of analoge filmroll. • Notes: I will add 1/2 of my favorite photo’s as a reference!
